The burger lasts for 5 mins and you’re hungry after

Chciken breast can make 2 or 3 meals…

Frozen veggies at kroger are a buck a bag
Its def not cheaper to eat unhealthy

Walmart has frozen fish 5 bucks a bag

So 10 bucks gets you a bag of fish 2 bags of veggies and a pound of chicken breast

Potentially 3 days of food for the price of 1 pizza

…trust me, I feel you.

I am only eating like that now because apparently women speak to me more when I do it and like to see me naked.

Unfortunately, the planet is against me and no shirt weather is running away quickly. Damned Earth is ruining it for everybody.
I gave them an honest effort but it just wasn’t worth it lol. I choose a plate of lean ground beef on a spinach salad with tomatoes instead.

LOL…spoken like someone who is NOT choking these fuckers down every few hours.

LOL

Yes, I want them to taste good…REAL good.
Lolwut? Do you know how much food you can fit in a crock pot?

I can fit a whole turkey in mine…I fill it with fish, chicken, and burger patties once a week. And let it roll overnight.

You know slow cookers make everything taste be
tter right?

Lime juice and hot sauce on chicken in a slow cooker…tastes…real…good

I don’t like hot sauce…and I am betting you can’t cook as good as me.

She grabbed the fork and lifted one slice of chicken breast to her lips. After 20 seconds of holding it her mouth and feeling the texture she says, “the floor is wet”. I said, “then I guess it IS that good, huh?”
You should stop messib with the old bitches at the church picnics lol

Nah. You might be right. But cooking MY food is a world fifferent than dressing up a meal for my gf. I do care about how that looks and tastes.

Pizza is THE most overpriced food in America.
Almost 5$ for a specialty slice did wonders for my health!

It really is all in choices…

And what YOU choose to do.

I think you guys should get out a little more. I am not being condescending either. In poorer neighborhoods, the cost of many of these foods is more…especially in areas where the people are less likely to have their own transportation.

I have compared the meat at a grocery store in South Houston (random “save mart”) to that of more upscale and “regular” grocery stores in middle class neighborhoods and the freshness and price is very different.

I doubt most of the people eating fast food are even eating “3 meals a day”. They may eat twice but load up on those meals.

It would take a whole lifestyle change for someone like that and not just a switch to cooking chicken.
No doubt. I’m sure the farmer’s markets are mostly located in the more upscale or gentrified sections of most cities. In the poorer areas, I’ve heard stories that convenience stores are often the only option besides fast food. I’d be hard pressed to get any kind of meal from a convenience store. Not that I’m above ever eating junk food, but living on junk food almost exclusively is another story. I’ve seen adults do it, too… Eating a candy bar, large bag of chips, and a mega-size fountain Coke for “lunch.” But I don’t buy that all of them are so poor as to have no other option. I think laziness and apathy plays a role in some of these cases, just like it does for those who claim they have no time to exercise but who still watch 30 hours of TV a week.

In poor communities, it is more about “the cycle of abuse”. That is why Good Times never got out the damned ghetto…that locked in mentality.

It isn’t that it is impossible…it is that they see so few people LIKE THEM doing it that they feel no need to change or lack the knowledge of how to.

Hell, I do this regularly and it still took years for me to figure what I could get away with and what I couldn’t.

It takes a GOAL ORIENTED mentality to start with…and look how few even have that on this website.

Every other newb in the beginner’s forum is claiming they “just want to get in shape”.

What does that mean?

You ask them to have a specific goal and they get offended.

They are locked in too. They are just “skinny fat” instead of obese.

Also, what is really fascinating is the larger number of “muscular” people in lower class neighborhoods despite the dietary shortcomings. I mean, there are people here who have been training for years who still aren’t as developed as people I see just walking across the street n my old neighborhood.

Dude, quit playing. The truth is, it’s beef. I would really have to see some research about all of the true clinical health benefits seen DIRECTLY from making sure all of your beef intake is “free range”. My guess is, most of the people who care that much about that are NOT eating as much beef as I can when gaining. No one cares what they eat if it isn’t producing any physical effects that warrant the concern.
Finally.

I’ve pretty much had it up to here [points to eyeballs] with the bullshit that all regular store bought beef is hardly anything more than a toxic waste dump.
if you are fat, it’s your fault. 1 out of every 10000000000000000 cases it’s genetic for the rest: Stop making stupid fucking excuses

It’s the water!

But I do actually agree with that, the kids at my job in the Bronx put most of my gym members to shame.

Yeah people might not like it but grease builds muscle better than chicken breasts.

I dunno that some of you are really in tune with ‘lower class’ family feeding practices. Basically, if you actually have to feed a family(not just yourself) you’re looking at really unlean ground beef chuck, canned veggies, and a pick of w/e starchy carb source is on sale, or if you have some extra prep time available, a bag of potatoes to make into either baked potatoes, homemade fries, etc.

Is that the unhealthiest of meals ever? No. But 75/25 beef is pretty bad, and if you want a bulk price comparable to going to McDonalds and buying 100 chicken nuggets because the 20 pieces are on sale for 3 dollars each, that’s what you have to do.

I actually had a huge post written up as a followup to this but this thread isn’t really the place to discuss it in that length, especially because at the core of the debate I agree that people make too many excuses. SOME of those excuses do have some validity though, the cost of proper diet in this country is fucking bonkers. I don’t even read the diet threads on this site anymore because it’s always the same shit(free range grass fed buffalo/bison/mythical creature meat, cook with oil that costs 20 dollars a bottle for 1 weeks worth, occasional salmon you caught yourself on your fishing trip to the pacific, supplement with most expensive protein/serving item on the site 3 times per day, but hey at least the rice I’m telling you to eat is cheap!) Sure those things are taken to an extreme, we know that’s not required to have a healthy diet, but it’s ridiculous the difference in price between like, vegetable oil and olive oil.

^Yep.

eating clean is not that damned cheap. I have seen Olive Oil for 20 bucks a bottle and there is no way in hell some poor kid who can’t afford lunch is going to grab that instead of Crisco which is 5 oil drums for 3 bucks.

That is WHY fried chicken is such a staple in communities like that…it’s freaking cheap, feeds everyone and tastes delicious.

Also this:

is spot on. Mind you, this is most often coming from people who you would not want to look anything like.

Maybe because i also suck at cooking them, when i do they usually end up really dry and i have to end up blending them with water or egg whites to get it down lol so i just stopped haha but hot sauce and lemmon doesnt sound too bad now that i think about it…

ok fo;;ow these simple steps mang

BOIL the chickecken breasts for about 30 minutes…it should be tender and easy to tear apart with forks

drain the chicken

put chicken back in whatever you boiled it in…pour in hot sauce and lime juice…I like lime more than lemon but whatevers

cover and simmer for a lil bit

if you want chop up a tomato, onions, olives…ya know, whatever

throw on some shredded pepper jack cheese let it melt

put it all in a tortilla if you have them.

or put it in some rice or mashed potatoes

Boiling chicken is the easiest way to get tender chicken…

I don’t like plain chicken breast either but I found a few simple marinades that work wonders on the flavors and have been eating chicken tenderloins (bought a shit ton when they were on sale for 1.99 and froze it) for 1-2 meals a day for a few weeks now.

Now I’m pretty new to all the cooking stuff but these are damn simple

Honey Barb-Q marinade:
1.5 cups ketchup
2 tablespoons worchester sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon lemon
mix it all together and add as much hot sauce as you’d like for flavoring.

Honey Mustard marinade:
1/2 Cup dijon mustard
1/2 cup white wine vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 clove of garlic (minced)

With each of these marinade the chicken for minimum 1 hour. I’ve found they work well with around a pound and a half of chicken but you can prob do as much as 2lbs
On the grill I do tenderloins for about 4-5 minutes per side, brushing on sauce after flips.
Extremely simple and actually just finished grilling up a batch at 11pm, in almost complete darkness, since it was the first time the rain let up today. They heat up well in the microwave and stay nice and juicy and tender.

@Pweedith im going to give them a try

And Rock thats awesome thats why i ahet them is because when i cook them theyre are disgustingly dry lol. Im giving that a try it sounds good, what sort of hot sauce?

2 apples + VERY cold water  that will make you feel satisfied for at least 4 hours, its not very healthy to do ths all the time, but for emergency weight loss its ok i think.
