Prowler Workout too Easy

What are you a cyborg? As fit as you clearly are, you’re not so fit that you cannot be exhausted by sprints/tabata intervals/prowlers whatever! You just have to keep adding weight/resistance until its difficult enough. Regardless how aerobically fit someone is, right around 40-45 seconds if you work hard enough you tie up due to lactic acid build up. Everyone does. Its a physiological fact. I’m ready to get shot down here, but could it be that you don’t know how to push yourself mentally and your perceived exertion is out of whack? Sorry.

There’s no magic to prowler work. It’s simply a matter of choosing the right load for the effect you want.

So looking at your prior posts you’re 18 (19 at the absolute oldest), you’ve been training for a year and a half tops, and you (allegedly) have the endurance of an Olympian combined with the strength of your average college athlete.

I think the image sums up my response.

one time a buddy of mine and another guy were doing a conditioning workout in a rugby field. we were just sort of putting together combos of sprints, pushups, squat jumps, pull ups and whatever else. about 2/3 of the way through, me and my buddy were both on our hands and knees, begging for it to be over. the other guy was just like “i think i’m doing this wrong”… after that comment, i paid more attention to what he was doing. on the sprints, he was going 70% at best, and was half-repping every pushup, chin, jump, etc.

now i’m not saying i’m a conditioning legend, but at least one thing i do know is how to go all out and make sure i’m demolished.

Im not saying its easy but i want to progress and its just too easy. Im not saying I can’t make it harder cause i can. I could sprint and after that gets easy do upperbody conditioning then maybe run long distinces and i bet it would be very hard but im trying to make PROWLER WORKOUT Harder.

I been training more than that. I used to run 5.30 mile time freshman year(skinny). Now i could do 5.55ish last time i ran it. Would not say olympian status but above average for sure. I talking about overall with me being 186 pounds at like 5-6. what video do you want first of the lifts? Oh yea did I tell you i could box jump about 35-40 inch box.

yea maybe but not so much. I mean my cns is not in freak mode but I try to try. I feel like i cant physically push myself more with anarobic sprints including prowler. I could add pushups etc and it might(will)make it harder but really how much? Ill end up just messing up my weight training progress. I used to be fat couple years back and built a makeshift prowler and I used to puke so I know what pushing yourself is. Now I am in way better shape.

thats the thing I cant run faster with sprints(prowler) which makes it too easy which is why it gets more easy after a while. I used to feel it when I first started to sprint but I got in shape very fast.

try starting it off with one extremely lactate-inducing set (ex. when doing 30m sprints of plate pushes, the first one would be a 60m ‘there-and-back’ one, just to start off the pain train), or either increasing resistance, shortening the rest intervals, or increasing the time under tension.

if you’re not able to get demolished, start playing rugby league-- it’s the most horrible conditioning-related thing i’ve done. Rugby league in the United States - Wikipedia

Regardless of how “in shape” you get, it’s not possible to reach a level where you can’t make your workouts hard enough. In fact the fitter you are the harder you can push yourself, if you know how. I do tabata intervals on a bike and when I get to the point when I can contemplate doing a 9th I whack up the resistance a couple of notches and I’m back to being “fucked” again.

Maybe you need to train with someone with a bit more experience to show you how to manipulate your variables a bit (eg distance, resistance, rest interval). I know if I had you for 10 minutes I would be able to get you exhausted, no problem.

get a training partner

sprinting by yourself even with a stop watch always feels like a max effort

sprints with someone chasing or passing you puts it in perspective.

if the prowler is ‘too easy’

shorten the rest cycles

push for yardage do 50 bw squats repeat 4 or 5x no rest.

bw squats don’t really work for me I need something that explosive like going from prowler and then some ropes then tabata cleans or whatnot but I was just trying to make the prowler itself hard.

Unfortunately I live in the Uk otherwise I would be glad to. And it’s not the sort of thing I could just write down because I would need to see you working out to get an idea of the intensity you train at. But I’m sure there must be someone local to you who might be able to help you or do what a previous poster said and train with a rugby league team, those guys are seriously fit, they’ll be able to run the legs off you. Good Luck

You seem to be in phenomenal shape/condition…your quest to join an elite unit shouldn’t be a problem, maybe just train more in the pool
