Whole foods stimulate the digestive system. The body releases enzymes, HCL acid, and ahost of other things to help with the digestion process. If there is nothing to digest the system will get lazy and when you do consume real food it might be digested less then optimally. Check out the MRP diet and I believe TC shares his experiences using only MRPs.
Hi everyone! I just want to point out that this is my first post here at T-Mag and I want to give you all props.
O.K. now to my reply.
Ed, what do you mean by living off of protein shakes? Are you saying that you plan to get most or all of your protein from shakes? That sounds pretty extreme to me don't you think?
Your last sentence “The fact is there is no documentated reason to support this ridiculius notion.” seems to show that you would not be opened to facts or opinions if they are not in line with your opinion.
Well I am not either agreeing or disagreeing with your conclusions but I do have some comments and addtional questions.
I have only been strenghth training for the past 7 months 3.5 months calesthenics i.e. pushups pull/chin/sit ups and the last 3.5 months free weights. Without any protein shakes I have gotten pretty good results. Example: 3.5 months ago I could preacher curl 40lbs10 now I can do 110lb10.
I just recently bought some protein shake mix for the purpose of having some form of protein available after my workout if I cannot quickly find some natural source of protein. You know how the daily grind can screw up your schedule.
What are you trying to accomplish with protein shakes that you cannot accomplish with natural foods. In my situation it will save me time.
Well my last question is, Do you really want to live off of protein shakes?
people know me in school because each and every day i have my protein bottle with me. I practically never leave the house without one. I even sneak it into the library. You know why because i can’t cook and don’t want to eat garbage out there in the streets. Yeah i could buy a sandwhich and pay a damn fortune for it. I save the food for when i have time to cook and time to eat like every other non-training human i know. laters pk
even after you yelling, (not saying it was bad, but it still didn’t work) you still only got very little relative responses to your question. I didn’t see anything in your question pertaining to vitamins, minerals and fats. Your question was based on food v.s. protein shake’s amino acid pool in the body. maybe you should have capitalized other parts of your question. (sorry i have no answer your looking for, but i hate it when people answer a question that wasn’t asked in the first place.)
If your body only needed protien and amino acids to exist then you would be fine, but whole food has plenty of things that are not in your shake. Science has tried to come up with the ‘perfict pill’ so that we don’t have to eat - just take a pill a day and all of your nutrients and calories are taken care of. They haven’t done it yet, because all of the vitamins and minerals etc that the body needs to function have not been identified yet. If you live off of protein shakes you are not getting as-yet-unidentified-but-necessary vitamins and minerals.
Also, if your body adapts to only one food source and then you suddenly change it - such as when you go out to dinner with your grandmother - you may get a very bad gut reaction... if you get my drift.
All I got to say is one thing.
Have you ever sat on the pot after a day of eating nothing but mrp’s…I would spend more money on crap paper then on my mag-10 cycle.
Let’s also talk MONEY. It’ll probably be much more economical to eat more FOOD than base the entirety of your diet on MRPs’, protein shakes and various other supplements. And you’ll need those “various other supplements” as was mentioned in previous threads. Cuz, you just can’t receive all the benefits of pure food by consuming only protein shakes.
I would choose, anyday/anytime, a good old big juicy steak over a protein drink! Oh, how easy! And fruit (with digestive enzymes besides the fiber) and vegetables! Good, old food!
Oh, and since Ed here hasn't visited and responded on his own thread, me thinks he's gone. Or, he could prove me wrong...:-)
I am just tired of hearing you “need whole food proteins.” I get supplements for free so for me it is cheaper and in my opinion just as good.
If subsisting only on protein shakes is your idea of “good nutrition”, go for it. Real food is way to important to me, and shakes are only a convenience food.
