I am a 20 yr old college student, and want to know how to ensure I do the least possible damage to my body from drinking. I drink probably 1-2x a week, anywhere from 4-12 drinks (beers). I know the best option would be to drink 1-2 beers, and just stop there. But let’s face it, that’s just unrealistic.
How can I protect my body the best way possible while still drinking? Any techniques, suggestions? Or even supplements?
The liver metabolizes almost every toxin that goes into your system. There is no way around this. The toxin psilocybin is the only drug I know of that doesn’t damage the liver. However, a mistake in identifying where this toxin is can lead to complete liver failure.
To my knowledge milk thistle is not meant to help while drinking but the days and weeks after, or before. Some recent studies have shown black coffee can aide in reversing the effects of cirrhosis (what you don’t want to happen). Obviously, do your best to not drink shitty beer, higher quality alcohol the better.
In my opinion, and there is alot of controversy here, top shelf vodka is the way to go. Drink a full glass of water for every drink. Try to avoid salty foods, and you may even consider a light calcium supp (Tums) or calcium containing foods throughout the endeavor. These will help neutralize some of the excess stomach acid produced. Eating a high fat meal, even just a peanut butter sandwhich, will help slow the absorbtion, although the effects here are minimal (~10%). Creatine before bed may help with water retention…when your severly dehydrated.
I’m half awake right now, so sorry if this is unclear or hard to read. Bottom line: 4-12 drinks is alot, its hard on your liver, no matter what.
Great Advice, No Acetaminophen, No Hydrocodon, its probably wise to stay away from all pharmaceuticals while drinking.
Never drink (heavily) on training days.
I can’t emphasize this enough. Probably have to experience it to understand.

So there’s NO way to help your liver at all? Then why do alot of users take milk thistle and things of this nature? Any suggestions?[/quote]
I must say I’m little surprise you’re taking precautions at your age. Others may argue you shouldn’t drink or drink much if you really want to protect yourself but hey, it just ain’t practical.
Anyway, I believe periodic juice fast is helpful in giving your body a break and help the main elimination channels such as bowls, liver and kidney to rejuvenate. I have some personal experiences with “liver formula” that’s on the market. My grand mother always had pain in her entire waist area for few years and no doctor can explain why. My buddy who’s a naturalist detected that her liver was toxic and suggested her taking the liver formula. After about 3 - 4 weeks, her pain was completely gone. He explained that the pain was a reflex to the toxin in her liver. After seeing the effect I took it too, and I personally liked the result.
I’m little reluctant to say what formula it is because it makes me look like a damn sales man. So if you want to know, PM me I’ll tell you the formula.
There was an article on here a while ago which included a comment about how a quality whey protein supplement was the best “detoxifier/cleanser” around simply because it supplies your body with the quality ingredients it needs to do what it does. You should look into that.
