Proscar/Propecia

I was about to start 3 consecutive 2 on 2 off Mag-10 cycles, and I finally got around to asking my dermatologist for a perscription for propecia (my hairline has been receeding for the past year, and I’ve been using minoxidil to try to stop it). Anyway, I wasn’t even thinking about the fact that it probably wasn’t covered by my insurance, so needless to say, I was shocked when I had to pay $60 for a months supply. I want to switch over to proscar, since it’s much cheaper, but I wanted to see which sites people here recommended buying from. I found an overseas pharmacy that had 28 or 30 proscar for around $52. Where do you guys get your proscar?

I get generic proscar (Fincar)from www.drugsrus.org. It’s finasteride made by an Indian pharmaceutical company. It’s legit, I’ve been buying from them for a few years and I always receive my goods in a timely manner. I used proscar before and didn’t see any difference once I changed over to the generic brand. I think it’s like 60 5mg pills for like $45, plus shipping which is pretty cheap.

I hesitate to buy from mailorder sources, but that’s just me. If I were you, I would ask your derm or GP if they would prescribe Proscar. If you seem old enough, many doctors will understand. Then you’ll only have to make a co-payment (Proscar is covered by insurance), you will get it the cheapest possible way (through insurance) and you can be assured it is the real thing.

I saw my derm yesterday and asked about him giving me a script for proscar. He didn’t even know what it was, so I told him that it contained the same ingredient as propecia, but it comes in 5mg tabs instead of 1mg, and it is marketed for a different purpose. I told him that I could not afford to pay $60/mo for the propecia, so if I could get the proscar, I’d just quarter up the tabs and use that instead. He said that he had to see if the PDR indicated that proscar could be used for MPB, which it did not, so he wouldn’t give me the perscription. Didn’t hurt to give it a shot though. I guess I’ll have to do the mailorder thing.
