This is the first belt I have ever used. I decided to start competing for my schools club team. I bought a 10mm belt, just wondering the correct way to get this thing loostened up. I know that time is one of the issues with breaking something in, just like a baseball glove.
I also got knee wraps. I was wondering if most of you go by preference or if there is a specific way to do these.
Some people will recommend soaking it in a bucket of water or backing over it with a truck. I personally cannot vouch for these methods.
What I did is can roll it up as tight as you can one way for 24hours and then roll it up tight the other way for the next 24. Other than that just deadlift and squat in the thing. It’ll take time like you said.
In my opinion, is the only way to properly break one in. It’s not going to be ineffective when not ‘broken in’, and by taking your time breaking it in you can ensure it keeps its shape and lasts you a very long time.
put the belt in the floor doubled over; tip of belt and buckle meet. Take your foot and step on the belt where it bends. Literally stand on it (not all your weight) and roll it under your feet. Roll the belt back and forth all the way from one end to the other. Then flip it over and repeat. This will basically bend the belt back and forth the equivalent of “a shit load of times”. That fucker will limber up. The more you do it the more limber it gets.
Hope this helps. I’ve done 2 13mm belts this way and they are butter but support like I-Beams.

I was gonna say just wear the fucker, but, I like this better.
I just got my first real belt as well, from EFS. It looks to have a plastic inner layer in between 2 leather layers. Is this common for belts? Can’t really see how this could ever truly get broken in.

They will break in. I have a 13mm that I bought when EFS first came out with their belts, when it arrived I could barely fasten it. Now it is still stiff as hell, but what I would consider broken in and I can put it on and take it off very easily.

thanks, makes feel better.
Used it for squats today and it is easier to take on and off now, after a couple workouts of sweat and body heat, along with some extra off day “massaging”.
