Proof that Diet Soda Causes Obesity

And then there’s this…

and this too.

I love fat people

If you look closely that kid has what looks to be a regular coke in his glass…I think it is obvious they filled the glass up with diet coke by accident, that explains everything and now I have someone to blame for the obesity epidemic!!!

What is really pathetic about that picture is the audacity the kids parents have in letting their kids eat their crap. Most people KNOW what healthy eating is… but still choose to be nutritional jackasses when it comes down to eating right.[/quote]

I honestly think that amounts to a form of child abuse.

honestly that comic fucking suits this picture so well - i mean that woman is eating atleast 1000mg of sodium plus god knows how many empty calories … that diet coke is only going to do one thing - make that meal a bit less less enjoyable …

How do you know thats a woman? Could just as easily be a man needed a ‘bro’…

Fat people rule…

at eating lots of crappy food, making excuses, and in general being a burden on society. What’s not to love about that?!!

fat people are just lazy and dont have a clue. If they wanted to be ripped and get into shape they could but there weak and have no drive! Its really sad and pathetic

Put down your f*cking hamburger and go to the gym thats the oly advice to give them!

But hey they dont bother me so if there happy thats all that matters. I guess I shouldnt be bashing them…

we live in a society (western society) of extremes, from what you see on the street and in the media you would believe that the only two possibilities in body compensation are being a 300 lb obese fatass or an anorexic 100 lb stick with no energy

the real issue is that there are VERY few people in the middle

I know most of you dont have a subscription to Dr David Williams natural health newsletter but the headline on his latest monthly newsletter would fit perfectly with how people should view their health. It reads “Health is Your Personal Responsability” and then goes into a wide array of simple dietary and lifestyle choices to enhance or improve your health. Most of it being common sense and logical, but most fat people dont have any of either since the messages that are being sent from their brain are being blocked by their fat cells telling them to eat massive amounts of food.

The whole discussion about “prejudice” and “hating” fat people is really quite laughable.

If you disfigure your body, don’t be surprised if people look at you in disgust. If you are a cutter and your face is covered in scars, that’s sad but don’t be surprised that people are disgusted by it. If you purposefully burn yourself with cigarettes, that’s sad but don’t be surprised that people are disgusted by it.

When I look at this picture I am saddened and disgusted that someone would willfully disfigure their own body like that.

Whats the big deal? If people want to eat crap and be fat, let them. They’re free to do that just like I’m free to eat clean and lift.

To me its an issue of respect (or lack thereof)
Hey if being fat is what makes ya happy, power to ya. But realize at the same time, all the negative connations associated with it.

‘Fat chicks need love too… but they got to pay.’ - Quagmire

I’ve been very big, but I was active and My size was for a reason (football). Even then however 90% of my diet was clean foods, just WAY too much.

My problem with morbidly obese people is that they generally either won’t admit there is a problem, or believe they truly have tried before and cannot lose the weight.

The infuriating thing about the diet soda, is that you are willing to get a double quarter pounder with cheese, french fries, 2 apple pies and wash it down with a diet soda, cause the diet soda helps you save calories…Holy shit are you serious!

Our nation (US) has become lazy, stupid, and is losing it’s grip as THE super power of the world. Im not saying it is because of obesity but it is a huge factor. It’s another aspect where people think they can do whatever they like and fuck the consequences, someone else will fix it for me.

That’s what upsets me. Not the fact that you are obese, but what being obese to that point stands for, while having the audacity to think that a Diet soda is enough of a try at self control.

i think some of you are missing the boat on the study linking diet soda to obesity. There is a debate that drinking diet soda in general is a symptom of a much larger problem of bad dietary habits, and the study did show that was true for soda drinkers in general. However, what this study also showed was that for every can of diet soda that someone drank they were about 10% more likely to become obese over there counterpart who drank an equal amount of regular soda. So despite getting more calories from soft drinks, the regular soda drinkers are less likely to put on weight. That is a rather profound finding.

taken from webmd:
For regular soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:
26% for up to 1/2 can each day
30.4% for 1/2 to one can each day
32.8% for 1 to 2 cans each day
47.2% for more than 2 cans each day.

For diet soft-drink drinkers, the risk of becoming overweight or obese was:
36.5% for up to 1/2 can each day
37.5% for 1/2 to one can each day
54.5% for 1 to 2 cans each day
57.1% for more than 2 cans each day.

For each can of diet soft drink consumed each day, a person’s risk of obesity went up 41%.

this could be due to several reasons. perhaps people that drink diet feel that they can have more calories else where. maybe people who drink diet create other metabolic issues because there body expects calories and are given none. I dont have an answer, however, this study was enough for me to cut diet soda’s out of my weekly cheat meal.

Interesting find. But for people to say “Diet Coke makes you fat” and for it to be all over the news is very false. It all comes down to the individual and there dietary habits

Isnt this an never ending question.

i think we all agree that its not good to drink diet sodas.

BUT i also dont see why so many people have a problem with people using ½-1 can of diet soda to get rid of the cravings ?

Also besides that study koffea posted i would assume that choosing diet cokes for you cheat meal only would take some of the calories away ?

Some Diet Sodas are better than others,

Enjoy
