Promoters Kill Me- Anabolic Pump

Ok, so there’s been alot of hype about some new supplement called Anabolic Pump. Thousands of promoters across pretty much EVERY bodybuilding/fitness messageboard are spending hours day and night talking about this thing like it’s the next big thing. I’m sick and tired of hearing from them about it. I want to hear actuall no-bull-shit reviews about it.

Apparently you take this shit 15 minuts before a carb meal, and it ensures that all of the carbs are forced into your muscle. I guess it’s supposed to be like PWO, at every carb meal. I’m not 100% sure because most descriptions just say “GET BIGGER AND LEANER AT THE SAME TIME”, so it’s really hard to get a read on this stuff.

So does anyone here, with more than 1 post, have any knowledge on this stuff? Any experience?

Thanks a bunch.

It contains corosolic acid which, much like lipoic acid, can stimulate insulin receptors and mess with fat cells.

There aren’t a lot of data on it, but it has potential for diabetics. I’d rather use lipoic acid, but of course novelty helps move product.

Thanks for the response. I guess it’s new so not that many people have experience with it. I’d like to hear more.

Yes, I’ve used it. I also used the beta version of it “yellow gold” when they were testing it.

What supposedly makes the active in this product superior to lipoic acid is that whereas lipoic acid makes insulin more effective at shuttling nutrient into cells, it does so for both adipose and muscle. According to the studies I’ve seen, the active in Anabolic Pump causes nutrients to be preferentially shuttled into muscles cells and slows/blocks intake into adipose tissue.

I’m not associated with the company and cannot vouch for the accuracy of the medical studies they cite. However, since taking YG/AP I’ve watched my muscles grow and my waist shrink.

Take my anecdotal observations for what they’re worth.

I’ve been using lipoic acid for years and it’s had little effect on my weight and body composition.

I started using Yellow Gold, the beta version of AP in November and the results were great. The first thing I noticed, aside from feeling hypo was its anti-inflammatory effect. The first few days it cleared puffiness from my eyes and face. It also helped chronic inflammation in my right elbow.

Weight loss occurred first in my face- then in my extremities. I ate low glycemic carbs with each dose, but I didn’t go over board. I noticed some pumps. My muscles looked fuller and more defined.

After the first month my pants became looser fitting. I’m now starting to notice some vascularity. Strength has been pretty good, but that was not the most prominent effect for me.

After using AP for about eight weeks my doctor gave be a body composition test. I had lost 7 pounds and gained 5 of lean body mass.

There a few products that I’ve become attached to. I’ve cycled Alpha Male for years (first TRIBEX). I’ve just started using Rez-V, and will probably continue. AP will become another regular in my regime.

I wouldn’t judge it before trying it.

Not to be a dick or anything. But the two above posters had a collective total post count of 15. With most of them having to do with supplements.

Anyone else. I DO plan on trying this myself. I will try and log it for everyone to see. But that will be in March, so for now I’m going to “research”, aka ask questions, as much as possible. For 50 bucks a bottle, I better be putting more than placebo pills in my gut.

any safety concerns dave?

The fact is that the vast majority of people who read forums like this rarely if ever post. In most cases, the people that do post frequently are a vocal minority and don’t hold the same views on many topics as everyone else.

So, while I have no input on this product, it makes semse to weigh the views given by posters outside the normal clique.

I know I’m not Dave, and I most deffinately don’t care. The true thing that bugs me is that they say this supplement can be/should be mixed with pretty much everything. It has no “draw backs” per se.

Which leads me to belive it’s just another “stack this with 30 products and hopefully you’ll notice something” placebo supplements. Most effective supplements/drugs can’t be mixed with lots of stuff, nor can they be used forever.

I’ve been a T-Nation member since 2003. My few posts consist of questions that were answered. I’ve had nothing to contribute to this forum.

Regardless of what other people say, you can only judge through your own experience. Supplements are expensive and people should be wary of the them. It’s easy to blow a substantial amount of money for nothing.

I hope this works for you too.

Best of luck.

Good point, I guess.

Like lipoic acid, corosolic acid stimulates glucose uptake into both fat and muscle, and it looks as though stimulation of the insulin receptor is the effector. The paradoxical ability to inhibit adipocyte differentiation (again, like lipoic acid) is fascinating. It should be noted that all of this is in vitro.

Other than glucose uptake we don’t know of any other nutrient interactions. Hell, we don’t know much of anything at this point.

Nothing overtly, but we don’t really know anything about it.

Hopefully this could be a novel treatment for type II diabetes, but so far it looks exactly like ALA.

If anyone wants more information about Lipoic Acid, here’s a Barrticle: http://www.T-Nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1004313

here is some science behind it:

How Anabolic Pump Works

I would just like to preface this by stating this is not the official write-up by any means, just a little diddy I wrote to satiate the masses.

How Does Anabolic Pump Work To Build Muscle?

Before we delve into this, we should first distinguish how the GLUT group of isoforms operates as it pertains to glucose regulation. There have been 5 functional GLUTs identified, with the GLUT4 isoform being the major-insulin responsive glucose transporter predominantly restricted to striated muscle and adipose. For this first segment, we will focus mainly on striated muscle.

There are three sites of regulation of intracellular glucose uptake in skeletal muscle: glucose delivery to the skeletal muscle cells, surface membrane permeability to glucose (i.e., glucose transport), and flux through intracellular metabolism. The site most pertinent to Anabolic Pump, is the second mentioned. GLUT4, dormant within vesicles of adipose and striated muscle cells, translocates to the plasma membrane of cells in the presence of Insulin as a result of Insulin activating protein cascades. Anabolic Pump exponentially increases the amount of GLUT4 translocation in skeletal muscle cells, causing the membrane to be supraphysiologically permeable to glucose. Thereby greatly increasing the amount of glycogen stored within muscle cell mitochondria.

This process is being undertaken by two mechanisms; the first being PPAR Gamma 2 modulation, which will be discussed below, and a second unknown mechanism.

How Does Anabolic Pump Induce Fat Loss?

Where Anabolic Pump gets very interesting however, is by inhibiting this same insulin-reactive cascading process in adipocytes. In order to understand this, just as above, we must define a key process inherent within Anabolic Pump?s effects. In this case, we must distinguish the PPAR family, specifically PPAR Gamma 2 and its role in the regulation of adipocyte cells. PPAR Gamma 2 is believed to modulate genes within adipose cells that are responsible for the regulation of certain lipid-binding proteins, proteins that bind to fat, basically. Anabolic Pump is inhibiting PPAR Gamma 2 within adipose cells by two mechanisms which, at this point, are unknown.

In much simpler terms, Anabolic Pump preventing inherent survival traits within Adipose cells to bind to FFAs and circulating blood lipids. This prevents the chronic accumulation of adipose cells by removing their survival mechanism. As a result, lipoylsis is induced and FFAs are metabolized into the bloodstream to used as fuel. Conveniently, striated muscle cells will be ‘super-charged’ so to speak with glycogen, and with a proper diet and training routine these FFAs will most likely not be re-deposited.

I have more than 15 posts on here and have been around since 2003 so i am not a “lurker”, “troll”, or any other derogatory word used online. I am also using this product and noticing an increase in muscle and a loss in fat. This change is a gradual one though and you wont have miracle results on this. IME thoug, it is doing what it is saying. Hope this helps

This is a great discussion. I like that people arent rushing to judgement, without first experiencing the product first hand for themselves. Thats how it should be, and also when I first saw the original post, the first person that came to mind was Dave Barr, we need some feedback from Dave, then well know what were dealing with hear. I, personally, have not tried it, and probably wont, but Ill keep reading about it, and maybe someday, because of the great feedback from people who have, I may change my mind. Thanks

This stuff sounds very cool. I’ll order it with some Matt Furey books.

I will very gladly be a guinea pig for my fellow T-men. First I have to find $50!

I think this would be a nice way to finish off my bulk, since I’ve only been using Spike and various protein powders thus far.

LMAO, the product page on BB.com says, “200% safe and healthy.”

Sure, the advertising is blown up and the hype machine is in full effect but i challenge you to find a supp co that doesnt do this.

I have been a loyal supporter of Biotest and have used just about every supp they have put on the market. Some worked and some didnt. Thats the way it will be for everyone and i dont hold those that didnt work against them. but they arent the only company that makes good supps or discovers new herbal extracts that translate to our goals.

For me, Anabolic Pumo is working and I like it. That might not be anyone else’s experience. I can actually tell it has an effect when you take it without carbs. you do start to get the hypoglycemic feeling.
So, before everyone jumps on the “too good to be true” bandwagon, give this a chance. Granted it will never be as good as the ads make it seem but then again what is (besides the PHs).

Anabolic Pump is by far the best supplement I have ever used. No other supplement even comes close. I have been using AP for 3 weeks and the results so far have really impressed me.

I am eating around 5000 calories each day and on some days up to 400 grams of carbs per day and I am fairly rapidly putting on size, yet staying very lean and possibly even getting a bit leaner. I’m even more vascular than before I started eating in a caloric surplus! It really does make your food more anabolic. Take it 15 min before a meal that contains at least 60 grams of complex carbs, then eat the meal and holy shit. I got a pump 5 minutes after eating the meal. Muscles felt unbelievably full. Is an unbelievable nutrient partitioning agent (as far as carbs go).

I used to use glucophage for this reason and would get a similar feeling after meals, but AP blows metformin out of the water. USP Labs is one of the better companies out there (as far as their products). Every product I’ve tried from them has been solid. They teamed up with (Nandi) Karl Mallman (Hoffman) and I am a big fan of Nandi RIP. This may sound like an advertisement, but i’ve been posting here for a while, I have 300 something posts so I have no affiliation with them. I am just very impressed by this compound, as I wasn’t expecting anything, I was very skeptical. It’s not a miracle supplement, but provided you got a solid diet, I think you will be thoroughly impressed.

I know a lot of people on here question everything and will say i’m full of shit, blah, blah, blah but try it yourself and see if it works for you. Maybe I just responded extremely well to it, maybe you will too, maybe you won’t see a thing. I don’t know. Theres only one way to find out.

I’d like to thank everyone for jumping in on this. I plan on getting some real soon.
