Making small problems progressively worse until no solution remains since 1912
moving forward not back

But what if moving back is the correct direction?
Besides, I don’t think progressivism refers to literal movement. It refers to the “advance of society” with government directing it – so progress is whatever the state declares it to be.
Progressivism: a political attitude favoring or advocating changes or reform.
We are all progressives.

I guess it could be , but I do think there is a mind set in politics that is back wards . Moral majority is one that comes to mind

I’m not sure that’s quite right, but the progressive label sure does smack of a Hegelian Zeitgeist idea, where we are (or ought to be) moving forward toward some pre-determined “end” (perfection).
I find that especially funny, because the crowd otherwise tends to be dogmatic materialists (even if they aren’t self-aware enough to realize it). It’s the same crowd that made it un-PC in the anthropology world to distinguish between advanced and primitive cultures, barbarian and civilized.
I think a motiavation to all voters should be vote out non progressive thinkers , not nessarily the definition that has morphed about

Your totally right, why can’t I trade my life in 2010 for one in 1912? I feel ripped off.

life expectancy was less than 52 , I would be dead. Life is so much more complicated than it was during Bush Admin. and it will only get more complicated . We need to think ahead and work for the future , there is no going back even if you change your strategy

But if you were one to live high on the hog as you are now you would see how less free you are today. Why do you think old people are always so bitchy?

Because they are old, about to die, and life is leaving them behind and there is nothing they can do about it?
Hmmm, most old people I know cannot wait to die.

The term “progessive” has indeed morphed into a synonym for “liberal” which I do not think is correct. For example, I think a free market economy is way more progressive than a socialist economy. Look what’s happened in former planned economies such as Russia. Even China has made several market reforms. Progress.
Providing an appropriate regulatory environment for small businesses to grow is progressive.
Teaching science, not fairy tales, is progressive.
Staying out of people’s personal lives is progressive.
hmmm, interesting points . . . as being half Irish, I have one very important reason for disliking progressives . . . prohibition! If they did it once, they’ll do it again . . .
they already try top prohibit salt, smoking, red meat, msg, trans-fat, and on and on . . all in the name of “knowing what’s best for you” . . .
Leave me to my steaks, cigars, rum and whatever else I wish to consume or enjoy . . .
Progressives can just progress themselves right out of my way . . . .

I totally agree with that

So what you’re saying is that you want the government and other people to stay out of your personal life, even if the intrusive laws that they propose are “for your own good?”
Hmmm…
