hmmm, interesting points . . . as being half Irish, I have one very important reason for disliking progressives . . . prohibition! If they did it once, they’ll do it again . . .
they already try top prohibit salt, smoking, red meat, msg, trans-fat, and on and on . . all in the name of “knowing what’s best for you” . . .
Leave me to my steaks, cigars, rum and whatever else I wish to consume or enjoy . . .
Progressives can just progress themselves right out of my way . . . .
So what you’re saying is that you want the government and other people to stay out of your personal life, even if the intrusive laws that they propose are “for your own good?”
Hmmm…
I understand what you are saying mike but Id rather make those choices for my own good. I myself dont smoke, dip, hardly drink, and try to stay away from msg, trans fat, and the other uglies. But Id rather that be on my own choice. If Mr.Doe wants to smoke or eat some delicious chicken fried bacon(yes there actually such a thing. Ridiculous), then let him be.
We won’t let gays get married. It’s for your own (“society’s”) good.
We won’t let you take AAS legally. It’s for your own good.
We won’t let you consume Marijuana, one of the few drugs yet to even be able to cause an overdose. It’s for your own good.
The government has an interesting view of “for your own good”.
