damn X how much do you spend a month on steaks? Do you stock up from Costco or something?
I took your advice and switched over to beef rather than chicken for the last month and I’ve definitely noticed some strength increases (and a little size too I would venture to say)
thanks for the info Prof X

His salary comes in the form of prime cut beef. Direct deposited into the freezer.
ohhh like those stride gum commercials where everyone gets paid with sticks of gum?

Or that senator candidate in Utah who wants to pay her doctor with chickens…

Costco is the shit. I’ve been eating filet mignon almost every day now for the past 2 months.
X2. Boneless ribeye’s for $5.99, a huge whole cooked chicken for $4.99, 3 dozen eggs for $2.99. And it’s walking distance from my house.
no fruits or veggies? Or do you just not feel the importance of listing them?
I realize needing as many calories as you do, consuming tons of veggies would be difficult.

I eat according to a caloric need. I do not count calories. I do not count out specific amounts of protein. I am also not an idiot so when I write that I do not count them it does not mean that I have no concept of what I am eating. It means I do not need to be that specific BECAUSE I know the human body better than most of you…and what I know with absolute certainty is that there are so many variables involved with gaining even one pound of muscle that anyone trying to literally calculate out every single step of the way will likely hold themselves back rather than get ahead of everyone else.

This, right here, is the nugget you guys need to get out of this thread. No need for anymore questions and comments.
Eating small children is very much underrated and I absolutely condone it… especially when out in the field in places like Timbuktu.

I can’t speak for X, but there are times when I have gone months eating nothing but basically meat. Everyone’s body/system is different, but people would be surprised by the things that we have been told we “need” that we really don’t.

Sorry, gotta disagree there. Yes, I’m sure you did “fine” for months without fruits/veggies, but lots of people do “fine” eating shit food for years, it will catch up to you.
That being said, I’m sure there are some genetics at play, take for example Eskimos, they didn’t exactly evolve eating citrus fruits

I’ve always maintained that saturated fat, such as found in beef, is the best source of fat for raising testosterone levels (better than other fats).
On that note, if I ever get my hands on a couple acres of land, I’m gonna get some cows - about one or two cows a year should keep me going
For PX, he’ll need at least 2 cows a year (including the bones)
more like 2 cows a week.

Pardon me, but how can you tell me about what works for me and is ok for my body? I made no generalizations and spoke for nobody else, but myself.

Nope. I’m just one of those people who do just fine eating like that. I am obviously not Ron Coleman, but his body is the same way.

You just threw “fruits and veggies” out there. Could you tell me what is IN the “fruits and veggies” that would make them necessary and irreplaceable?
There is usually broccoli in the rice if that makes everyone feel better.
I had a buddy when I used to work at a gym in LA, who would routinely go on his ‘get big’ diets. Every 2-3 hours, he’d have steak, white rice, and hot sauce. Never saw him down a single fruit or vegetable, and the guy was a beast. Also, if you ever get a chance to read some of the ‘older’ bodybuilding accounts (of the 50’s and 60’s), those guys lived on meat. They talk about Harold Poole barely being able to afford his 3-4 steaks a day habit -lol.
Now obviously we know a bit more these days about avoiding excessive levels of saturdated fats out of concern for overall health, but for the most part, the hormone boosting properties of high meat protein intake (+ creatine and various vitamins) should not be ignored.

Agreed.
I do not eat a lot of fruit. I am also not against it. How is it some of these guys think “fruits and veggies” are no more necessary than fiber and caloric intake?
What magic is in these fruits and veggies that the rest of us are missing?

True - and fruits and vegetables contain lots of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals, so I agree with JF about them being a necessary part of a balanced, healthy diet.
Now, as far as bodybuilding purposes go, then it doesn’t matter. If all you eat is meat and rice, you’ll certainly build big muscles, so when it comes to gaining LBM, who gives a fuck?
However, for overall health and wellness, I think fruits and vegetables are vitally important.
I think it;s just a matter of the FDA/Mainstream Media, and what people have been fed since they were younger. Once you get to the point of actually understanding the effect that different food and nutrients have INSIDE your body (hormone levels etc), things shift into a much clearer picture. I’ve seen so many people drain the oil off of their natural peanut butter, thinking that they were being smart -lol.

Good stuff X. I have made the transition to less lean meats such as steaks and pork over the last few months. Not only am I seeing results in the mirror faster, but it sure as hell tastes better than ‘chicken and brown rice.’
Now I just need to get a bigger freezer to store dead animals…

so you think we DON’T need as much vitamins and minerals as the FDA says?

That’s what I was trying to get at by saying we are told we “need” a lot of things that don’t necessarily hold true.
Just a quick scan of this thread shows you, me and X are probably more developed than the guys arguing that we are wrong, yet they continue to wonder why they don’t progress.
I am beginning to remember exactly what prompted me to go on a hiatus from posting on this site.
Edit: And I commend X and Stu for being on here so long and being able to put up with the know-it-all “sheeple” that pop up in just about every thread where someone who has made more progress and has more experience tries to give a little insight.
