Pro Bodybuilding's Tipping Point?

have you seen the pictures of Lee Priest when he was 17? The dude’s got a better physique at 17 than most people can achieve in a lifetime.

I think it’s fair to say someone with genetics as good as that could blow up from even the tiniest steroid cycle.

Preist at 17 would have been worshiped as a god in the lollypop kingdom.

I think it’s fair to say that most pros who understand the ‘game’, and the inherent risks involved, would ideally want to get away with as little as they truly needed. That’s not to say that they’re not willing to do whatever’s necessary for an advantage of course, but I don’t think any of them want to seriously endanger their lives anymore than they really have to.

While it may seem kinda cool for the average gym rat, or wanna be to constantly brag to his buddies, or online about how much gear he’s using (cuz he’s so damn harcore yo! -lol), I would think that once you have the potential for this to be your career, and possibly provide for your family, you get a better perspective.

If Yates could make the gains he needed using half of what some others may have been using, then what possible reason would there be to match them? At the highest levels of this sport (and most I would think), genetics are going to come into play, no question.

You are absolutely right. Why waste more $$ and increase the risk of side effects and potential health risk later, if you can achieve what you need with lower amounts. Like you said, if someone is looking at it as a career longevity is key.

already stated---- w/ Haney taking it a level not seen, although how big was the myth? then guy’s like dorian just beating folks form the 90’s who would have won if dorian wasn’t just so massive. i think looking at the evolution of legs and how focus shifted on body parts other than chest and biceps played a role in the growth culture of bodybuilding.

as time progressed the way we mass communicate and receive messages and info. shifted, i think the entire world became more- now, go big, immediate gratification focused…even training ideology shifts caused a shift in aesthetics. add science, gear, nutrition and $$$$ and we’re where we are now. sure freaks like ronnie were high volume guys but truthfully that guy could eat, take his drugs, and do yoga and be bigger than 98% of us!

that he only used insulin once… Im starting to see why you named yourself brickhead
LMFAO!!!
Yes, very funny that a guy has a problem with something in print.

Brick didn’t say he believed him, so is your beef that you don’t even think he wrote it?
Exactly.

Instead of speaking with me reasonably on things Mr. Red Tyrant doesn’t agree with or believe, he prefers to do otherwise.

Dont take walkway too serious. Pretty sure he just uses T-Nation to insult others lack of knowledge of PEDs for never going to drug school.

Back on topic, one of the things I noticed looking back over the years was the change in leg development. With Platz being the obvious exception, it always seemed to me like the golden era boys intentionally had kept thigh grow in check. Not saying these guys had small legs by any means nothing really to the same over development of chest/back/arms etc.

Yet his knowledge isn’t up to par and he lacks an open mind. Too bad

that means a lot coming from a guy who thinks that drugs act the same way in bovines as they do in humans… just because I pointed out your idiocy does not mean that my knowledge “is not up to par”

absolutes are not something that you “have an open mind about”

Apology accepted.

How is ludicrous if I repeat what’s written? You could’ve simply asked, “What issue did Dorian write that in?”

And although I don’t remember the exact issue, I am sure it is in one of the last four, definitely in the past third or quarter year.

Am I the one who claims insulin doesn’t lend to muscle growth, or is it Dorian. Anyway, repeating something someone wrote or said isn’t a claim.

Having personal experience with dishonest and lazy bodybuilders and knowing of others’ experiences whom I have no reason to disbelieve isn’t a claim either. I apologize for breaking it that perhaps many of your beloved idols or the scene you so deeply love are laden with a fair share of degeneracy.

You could have simply said something like, “I haven’t had that kind of experience or read any stories like that. Care to share? Maybe you can PM me if you don’t want to air dirty laundry all around this forum.”

No, that probably would be a respectable way of talking to another man and wouldn’t be as satisfying as rudely confronting me. Do you do this in real life every time you’re dissatisfied or disagree with what people say sometimes?

Strange - I liked you at first.

when people make outrageous claims (E.G. “many bodybuilders are pathological liars” and refuse to back them up, yes.

So you think I should point people out, names and all, on a public forum.

you made a claim, I think you should back it up… is that weird?
