Pre-Workout Advice Needed

Normally I take half a scoop of whey pre workout, but today for some reason I couldnt. So I instead drank a glass of skimmed milk and 2 bananas. So is milk a good pre workout ? And should I prefer fat free skimmed milk pre workout or whole milk? And what should be the gap between pre workout and workout if I’m taking milk? Thanks.
