Powerlifting Results And Goals

Hello everyone, This is my first time posting a message on this forum so I thought I would tell you alittle about myself. I am 5-5 and 200 pounds with about 14% bodyfat at 16 years old. My best lifts are:

Squat: 340
Bench Press: 260
Deadlift: 475

All of these lifts were in the 194 pound weight class. I know my squat looks weak and I was actually sitting at a 440 squat before the season started, but at the 1st tournament of the year I missed my opener (415) all 3 attempts and instead of my coach standing by my side he told me how emberassed he was for me to have bombed out on my squat and that if I didnt get my squat under control I would be kicked off the team.

With that being said I had to basically start from scratch and find a comfortable form that allowed me to go ass to the floor and then build my confidence on the squat back up. I have never used steroids or suits to get the upperhand in training or tournaments.

In the 2005-2006 State Powerlifting Tournament I took 5th place in the 194 pound junior varsity weight class with a 1020 total (320 squat, 240 bench, and 460 deadlift). I was 20 pounds away from taking 4th place considering I was the only person in my weight class that lifted all natural (no steroids or suits).

My current goals for the start of next powerlifting season are:

Weight Class: 220
Squat: 405
Bench Press: 300
Deadlift: 510
Total: 1215

Get in equipment.

Even cheap stuff will provide nice support.

Get some knee wraps and wrist wraps (more optional).

Knee wraps give good rebound out of the hole of ass to grass squats.

If the competition is using equipment then you should be too.

that isn’t to say you should focus all of your training on gear.

You want to just be plain ole’ strong but be able to use the gear when you need them to be a champion.

There’s a pretty small learning curve on the less heavy duty shit.

Get comfortable in it, practice without it most of the time, put it on and dominate.

And your goals look doable.

Stay strong, get stronger.

Ghost22, Thanks for the advice but here in Michigan they have banned the used of suits for all tournaments. But this is something that will actually help me in tournaments because like I said in my prevous post everyone in my weight class except me used suits, so I wont have a hard time adjusting to not using suits because I never use them.

you lift for the highschool?

im pretty sure it dosnt matter what state you in you not allowed to use steriods. I mean some people might think they bc there strong but maybe they bust there butts to get what they wanted so dont jump on the steriod wagon.

could be wrong though maybe some states support the use of steriods
