Powerlifting Meet Vid

There were only 2 lifters in the 165 open men’s division and I came out ahead. I did get best lifter for the light weight lifters though.

To do BA, you need to be hitting at least 450 in the 165 class

I just got back from the 2005 Longhorn Open.

Here is a video of my final squat.

I weighed in at 163.3 pounds (75kg weight class). The squat is 237.5k or 523.59 pounds.

I benched 165kg or 363.8 pounds and deadlifted 232.5 kg or 512.57 pounds for a 635kg total.

whats your raw lifts??

This training cycle I squatted 335 for a triple (w/ belt), benched 245 for a triple (paused), and deadlifted 455 for a triple (w/ belt).

Great numbers. You got a 600 squat in you no problem.[/quote]

I agree, once the setup and descent are shored up.

Good liftin’

Awesome job! I would love to see the deadlift video if they taped it.

On a side note, I was wondering why powerlifters space their hands so wide. Is this just more natural for the lifter or better for strength? (forgive the ignorance)

I am assuming you are referring to the bench press. I take the maximum grip allowable - 81 cm finger to finger (pointer). If you look at my humerus (upper arm) angle with respect to the horizontal plane it is near horizontal. That puts me in a more mechanically advantageous position. That plus the arch make the bench press into a ‘partial’ bench press.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a video of the deadlift. My camera that my girlfriend was using ran out of battery power.

I’d have to agree, my walkouts are not the best. I train them once I start using gear. Nevertheless, they are extremely uncomfortable for me.

I misread that. I thought it said 512 bench but it was DL. Still great job.

Nice work brother; looks solid!

Stay strong
