Are you doing any scandinavina junior comps this year? how old are you now? just wondering since I will be doing i think scandinavian juniors or something like that next year :P
You are thinking about the Nordic championships?
http://hem.passagen.se/nordicpowerliftingfed/

Im a senior this year, i turn 24, so I won`t be competing at any more of those ;)At least not as a junior, and im not strong enough to get elected for this competition as a senior.
But I have been with the team as a coach twice so I hope to travel with the team on later occasions as well

This year the competition is in Norway, looking forward to that
cheeta wrote:
OW it makes me sad you wont be a junior much longer haha  But yeah thats the one i was talking about, I wish i had discoverd power lifting sooner then maybe I would have been ready to go to that one… but next year i probably will be doing that one or the junior worlds. My coach hasnt decite. So will you be attending the one in norway this april?
Hey, don`t get cheeky and call me old
I ones was young and promising too, hehe.

It`s never to late to start with powerlifting, keep focusing like you are now and you will reach the top level in the IPF
You definitely have the right mind set.

Yes, I have been picked out to coach on this championship also
To bad you didn`t make it to this one. I think it will be a pretty good contest.

You don`t do single bench meets, do you?
I have coached at two bench press world championships. Loads of fun
Hope to lift at a bench press WC in the near future. If i do somewhere between 485-515 i will probably be in the race for a place on the team

Thanks a lot
Good luck with your workouts as well
To bad about that biceps tear
Any new plans for competing? (I might have overlooked this info in your training log. If that the case; sorry)

I hope to speed up things after this 8 week start-up program.
The load will increase with 20% in both squat and deadlift. The bench will probably stay the same, maybe I will ad another day of benching.

Yes as a matter of fact. In the last couple of months, I’m trying hard to get my act in gear, and have found two comps near my house this year. First one is in April, about 8wks from now. I’ve realized I really don’t know a hell of a lot about competative weight lifting, so, I’ll be looking forward to following your log.

Thank you for those kind words
I can`t claim that I know that much, but our national head coach is extremely talented. And he knows all there is to know about powerlifting. I train with him a couple of times a month and has taken his classes so I hope that I know somethings about powerlifting.
I am the one of the youngest coaches in Norway and currently i train between 15-20 people, all year round.

This weekend we went to a youth competition i England.
My guy,15 year old, lifted 375 - 292 - 430 (lost balance on the top with 452) = 1097 lbs total @ 213 bw. A new personal best with 49 pounds (5 weeks old pr).

I realize that young guys like him will increase just by looking at a weight, so its not that impressive, but still I am happy

Last year another apprentice took silver at the European masters championship. So I feel confident with my work these days.
Hopefully reading on this site will give me some good ideas for the future.

A little update:

Fractured my hand for some reason, so i haven`t been able to train since Tuesday…

Went to Newcastle, England, on friday on a youth competition.
I went as a coach along with 3 other and 8 lifters. They all made new personal bests. Great Success

A little bit of work i did during the contest on saturday:

Front squat:
242 3x3

Benchpress:
198 1x5 *hand was to sore to lift any more.

Sumo deadlift:
441 2x1
441 1x2
*haven`t done any sumo for over 3 years. Without belt on and very light. Maybe I will switch.

Just a short workout, spent most the time coaching today

Front squat:
220 x 5
264 x 3

Squat:
264 3 x 3
*high bar

Bench press:
198 x 6
253 x 1 x 2
286 x 1
297 x 1

Bench press w/dumbbells and hammer grip:
88 x 8
99 x 5

Lat pulldown:
220 x 8
154 x 20
220 x 8

Sumo deadlift:
220 x 3
308 x 2
375 x 2
441 x 1 x 2

Film from the deadlift:

First is 375 x 2, then the two attempts on 441. Last is 397 pause squat, executed by a club mate.

Cheeta, he probably means “bench only” which is simply just a single lift bench meet after the 3 lift.

Are you going to the 2009 IPF Jr/Sjr Worlds in Brazil?
cheeta wrote:
excuse my english but what is a single bench meet? :stuck_out_tongue:

do you always pull sumo??
hows the weater down ther?

keep up the good work, so you meeting me at the junior worlds next year? lol
No,it was a full meet

I pulled sumo at two competitions in 2003. After that i have only lifted regular.

Hehe, not as a lifter, that`s for sure. But maybe as a coach
Where is the worlds next year?

Don`t know yet. I am a senior lifter now and would have to lift 308-364 pounds more total to qualify
But I might travel there as a coach.

Great looking training Prolapsus, and cool video.

Will begin training for full again next week. Have to start eating again…

*stop the bar about 1 inch of the floor between reps.

Triceps:

Comment:
Form felt horrid! But it was not all that bad

Todays workout:

Chins:
1x3
1x2bw+66 lbs
5x3
bw+33 lbs
3x5*supinated grip

Close grip bench press:
154 x 5*
220 x 5*
264 x 3*
308 x 1 x 2
264 x 6*
264 x 3*
*feet in the air. Not the best of days, I will aim for a close grip bench of 353 lbs this year. That should be possible.

Front squat:
154 x 10 x 2 lol…

Biceps: 1 set

Comment:
Acking back and had only about 30 min to train.
cheeta wrote:
Yo neighbour, checking up on you  30 minutes to train? never fun to be pressed for time. GLad you made the most of it though, cant wait to see you throw those 353 in the close grip sometime soon!!! how much is that in KG?
Hi there Cheeta, nice of you to stop by

My back is really acting out these days, so cooling of with the training because of school work is not all that bad these days. Think I need the break. Although I know coming back is hard mentally! Strength is really suffering during these brakes. Specially with the little amount of training i currently have in me. I see all these people push pressing the weights I use in the squats and that is NOT cool

I will find time to train soon. And I am thinking high-reps-squatting is long overdue. So if i grow a pair, I will give that a shot
Bound to help my leg development, and general conditioning

353 lbs should be 160 kg if I am correct
I have doubled 150 kg in the clos grip, so its not that far of. …

Todays “workout”:

Squat:
220 x3
242 x3
264 x3
286 x3
308 x3
*high bar no belt.
Pause squat:
264 x3x2
*belt on these. I don`t breath right without belt…

Close grip Bench press w/feet in the air:
198 x8
220 x5
264 x3

Bench press:
242 x3
286 x1
308 x1
330 x1*heavy as fuck!

Bench press w/feet in air:
198 x8x3

That`s it :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously depressing workout today :frowning:
Back in 2005 I was unable to bench press even the bar without great pain. The pain was located in the chest/shoulder/biceps :stuck_out_tongue:
Never found out what I really was. Not it seems to be back…

Hoping for fast recovery this time.

Todays workout:

Benchpress:
204 x 6
242 x 5superset with flies: 27 lbs dumbbells x 8
253 x 5 x3
superset with flies: 27 lbs dumbbells x 8 x 3
*the pain in the chest got better with the flies actually. Feels kinda like my chest is gonna tear :frowning:

Frontsquat:
198 x 3
220 x 3

Squat:
220 x 15
220 x 10
220 x 8
*High bar, no belt. Really easy, but I have no stamina.

Js-rows:
132 x 10 x5
*actually felt these real good. My back is having a hard time with any type of row… :frowning:

Dips:
Bw+22 lbs: 3x10
bw x 10
*damn, this was an all time low!

Biceps: 5 sets

Comment:
1 week of the 5-day a week bench press program.

Hmm…this kind of annoys me.

In the United States you are only an “IPF” lifter if you WIN nationals in your division. So if you compete in USAPL, the United States sub organization to IPF, you are an USAPL lifter. You are only an IPF lifter if you win your respective division. Obviously with your lifts at your weight you didn’t win your division.

It misrepresents IPF. You would not ever qualify for IPF with those lifts let alone win nationals in whatever country you are from. With that being said…I don’t mean you any disrespect, I support all USAPL/IFP or sub leagues of IPF lifters.

It just kind of saying you are in the NBA Allstar game when you are just sitting bench in the NBA.

Keep up the good work and goodluck…Best wishes

When I was 15 I had no coach or spotters and totaled 1102 in a USAPL Nationals…AT 148 LBS or 67.5 KGS, but that is the record too…so yea keep pushing your guy…i could have hit 1200 if i wasn’t lazy

I am just pointing out that I am not a WPO lifter or APF lifter or whatever. I lift under IPF rules. No tripple canvas suits or mile high squats or soft bars etc.
And most importantly no use of any kind of drug!

All nations represented at the IPF world championship represents IPF. Of course not all IPF lifters qualify for the worlds. Don`t really see how you can misinterpret this…

WOW!
That`s really strong. Sounds almost like Russian results!
What do you do now then? age, weight? You must surely be, in your terms, an IPF lifter.

I will definitively not push my guy at this age! He trains with high repetitions and with a minimum amount of equipment training. Hopefully he will be good enough for the national juniors team within the next 2-3 years, then he will be coach by a more experienced trainer.
