Last couple of sessions looked good. Nice and heavy. :+1:t2: I hear you on 15 lb jumps. Hard to imagine making jumps like that from where you are but us little guys can dream I guess. :joy:

Your younger, you have more time to get there.

You’re complaining about not getting where you want? Let’s compare notes and you’ll see how good you got it.

Hey Cav , the important thing is that neither of us is content with our current strength level and are striving for better. Being too strong would be like having a car that is too fast or a girlfriend that is too pretty, or is it the other way around?

This is true. We’re always pushing for more.

What type of cancer? Probably doesn’t matter. You are older now so it will be difficult. That may be my excuse, not yours. I had chemotherapy and radiation on my brain as I had a tumor on my frontal lobe. The frontal lobe is where motivation comes to play and I am sure that has had a negative influence on my exercise. You have concrete goals. That is needed. When you do come back it will be the most rewarding feeling that you have beat those demons. I’m pulling for you bro.

Thanks for the support. I would encourage you to start a workout log. Don’t think about what you did in the past. Only think about your next training session that is based on your last session, which is logged. You have looked death straight in the eye and your still here.

Hey Bam, do you feel its better to the singles on the conventional deads and the volume work in with the RDLs?

I remember a guy that used to train in the strongman gym i trained at, he completed at the world powerlifting championships 20 years ago (unfortunately his wife passed away in her 40s and he went a bit of the rails, never seen much of him after that). Anyho, interestingly he would do squats on a Monday, several increasingly heavy singles followed by a single set of leg presses to failure. Hes deadlift day was the same, singles on the deads followed by a single set of pulldowns to failure. Hes bench was singles, followed by a a single set of incline DB presses and a set of triceps extensions. Thats literally all he did. I asked him one day did he ever add volume work in and he laughed at me…he said i aint got time for that shite!! Lol. (He was a diver that searched for and retrieved bodies for the authorities). I later found out he’d been to the US to train for a few weeks with captain Kirk kawasaki, hence the low volume.

@hit_sirloin i started doing reps with a old DL program from T-nation but now I only do singles and focus on accessory work. My hamstrings are my weakness so it’s RDL’s. I had a rule to never do a max DL in the gym. Then I saw the USAPL (IPF) national record in SHW masters 2b, that I was only 30lbs from. I started doing max lifts and it set back my progress. The exception to not doing reps is on occasion I do a DL challenge I read about here. 315 for 60reps in 30 minutes, then started adding some weight. The first time I did it my lungs hurt, then I learned to pace myself. Have not done that one since the cancer,

Thanks, that was 475 in the video. Today was a good day.

Yeah, high rep deads are a killer for sure. Though 315 for 60 reps…pufffff, even physiologically gearing yourself up for that would a task in itself…now am curious lol

Give it a go. Just pace yourself. I threw down a small plate at the front of the platform after every 10 reps, so I did not lose track.

May well do Bam, a wee different kind of a challenge now and then does no harm. Good idea with the plate, i was thinking 3-5 rep clusters. Cheers
