Power Rack Equipment Thread

What Power Rack do you use? What companies produce good racks? What Bars do you use? What bench did you purchase?
Website links and pictures are great!

I just bought a 2X2 rack from elite fts. It’s the only one I could find with the 1 inch hole spacing in the bench area.

I’m really leaning heavily toward just shelling out the money for one of those bad boys for the garage. Much more functional than a car.

It’s either Elite (the best) or New York Barbell (heard some good things), depending on how much I want to spend.

Personally, I am going with NYBB. I think elitefts is overpriced. I don’t care what brand is on the rack.

Went with the Body Solid power rack for me.

I got mine at Palmetto Fitness. I believe they are the supplier for Elitefts. The racks are commercial grade. They’ll last a lifetime in a home environment.

It’s not just about the brand. If you care about hole spacing, using bands, doing pin pulls (elitefts pins are better built for that), you might want to consider getting the elitefts one.

If I was going to go through all the trouble of setting up my own gym, I’d make sure the rack had all the features that I wanted. (then again, these features might not be important to you)

I got one of the NyBarbell racks, and it has done good by me. I would rather have an elite one, but with a family etc, I had to go with the more cost effective.

I am looking at

Can a 180 power rack stand wear and tear? Has anyone purchased a power rack from a local retailer or resller?

if you’re going to invest in a home gym just go all the way and dont skimp.

i’d go with the elitefts shit considering everything you can do with it…

pullup attachments, dip attachments, band placement etc etc. it’s perfect if you load it up with accessories. You really don’t need shit else.

if you’re going to skimp you might as well just get a squat stand, sawhorses, and some bumper plates and call it a day.

Hey Nate, thats an amazing power rack, What came with it, and how much did you get it for. (If you don’t mind me asking).

I had to be cost conscious but still wanted a good rack. I also had problems with ceiling height in my neighborhood.

I’m regretting it a bit now, because it doesn’t have a cable lat/row system, but it’s only one step down since I can put the bar in the top hook and do my pull-ups that way.

However, I think a powertec cage is ideal and should have waited until I had the money for that.

I have the same one as NateDogg.

I like the Texas power bar. Just a goo overall barbell. I think Ivanko makes a very high quality barbell. However, it flexes too much for my liking.

I paid $264 for it from Play It Again Sports in July 2004. It was originally more, but because I was buying other stuff (300lb Olympic barbell set, weight tree, flat bench), they gave me quite a few discounts on everything.

I bought the basic power rack that you see in the photo with the pins and chin-up bar. I could have added a lat/row/triceps attachment for another $200, but I didn’t want to spend the money on it since I can do plenty of stuff without it.

It’s not as fancy as Elite or some of the others (weight holders on the side or band and j-hooks or 1-inch spacing), but it has worked great for me and whoever has trained with me for the last 2+ years that I’ve owned it. It’s pretty sturdy and has handled 400lbs of weight (not dropped, of course).

I have a NYBB one in my home. It works just fine. For a shorter person its not great for rackpulls as the bottom pin is just below knee. Cost me $299 shipped. Then I bought 300lb oly weight set at Champs for $99!!! and a plate tree for $50. I would have bought a second weight set but I went with buying individual 45’s instead.

same as natt dog

i like it

I like that rack. You can adjust the height of the pins and you can take the weight out from the front. Like if you want to do Rom DL or something.

We have a similar rack in our gym, and that’s why I go there.

That, and the fact that other gyms in the area don’t even have a squat rack or power cage or anything. :frowning:
