I was wondering if anyone has tossed a scoop of Power Drive in with their PWO Surge drink, to combine CNS recovery with muscular recovery benefits (I may have read that Thib did this, but I’m not sure at all). I can’t think of an exact reason not to. The absorption of the Power Drive shouldn’t be too slowed down from the carbs and protein in the Surge, correct?
Also, has anyone else noticed an almost fishy aftertaste with the Power Drive mixed in water? I tried it on its own once and thought I noticed it, but I could’ve been mistaken.
I think you would be better served using your Power Drive pre workout and Surge (and Creatine if possible) post workout. Power Drive would potentially help your workout and Surge of course would kickstart the recovery process after.
But thanks man. I may end up trying it for a few workouts anywho, just to self-guinea pig it. But I’ll probably stick with Power Drive pre-WO like it was originally intended.
Quite simply I’m pretty good at recovering in terms of muscle repair, so doing workouts with higher reps and lower intensities is fine & I progress well & grow etc. But with heavier lifting my CNS gets burned out too quick and it can mean having to postpone workouts or back off a little in the gym (also I walk into stuff, open doors into my face, drop plates etc.).
Given my situation, it makes little sense to take it pre-WO, when that would just intensify what I have to recover from.
If you’re the same as me I would suggest taking it post-workout (or personally I take a half serving PWO and the other half the next morning) during a heavy lifting phase. If you don’t have any major issues with CNS recovery then fire away whichever way you like.
