Good for you. In “strength sports,” (this section of the forum,) they go by pounds or kilos.

Also, I’m not sure of the point of this post. Eastern Europeans go by kilos and have dominated strength sports for many years. Or was that your point?

That’s not always true. People dont want a 300 lb or 400 lb bench. They want a 315 or 405 becasue that’s 3 and 4 plates … I can’t believe it, but I htink I just agreed with blazin dave
All i said was I (meaning myself and not necessarily anyone else) like to use 45 plates as markers and don’t pay much attention to the 100s.
Ramo, technically you did not agree with me…so rest assured your sanity remains.

I have decided I will use both systems and whatever round number is next I will use that as my goal.

so goal progression will be something like:

200lbs
100kg
250lbs
150kg
300lbs

or whatever I can’t be bothered doing the math right now but it will give me twice (or more) the round number milestones. :)
That 150kg/331lbs bench PR before the 300lbs bench should definitly make the 300 easier

Never said I agreed with you bud. That was KBC. I explicitly disagreed with you. But I was probably unduly harsh and I certainly understand your point. Mostly, I think this is a stupid thread. Sorry for adding to it. Again.

OP-

If you have a problem with us using pounds feel free to go check out EUROSTERONE NATION where you can talk to your heart’s content about the metric system, cold weather, eel pie, blond hair, and gnomes.

I really don’t think the OP was having a dig at Americans on the grounds they use different units of measurement to most of the rest of the world. He didn’t even seem to be complaining about the difference, just making an observation.
I don’t understand the unprompted xenophobia

I think your sarcasm detector is malfunctioning.

I use kilos and convert to lbs, but I always think in terms of kilos first, lbs second.

I’m American btw.

Why is this a thread again?

To discuss the psychosomatic effects of lbs vs. kilos.

Its all in your head.

Math is hard

A 150kg bench (or even a 300lb one) is depressingly far away so I have a chance to sort out the system by then.

Haha, my post was directed towards the other guy but for some reason i wrote your name, my bad.

Hopefully this thread hasn’t died.

Do you think if plates weighted more, people would be stronger?

No one in high school wants to be the kid whose not benching 135 or else you just look like a total cock.

So what if there were only 50kg plates and all the other plates were the size of 25s or smaller? Would everyone be racing to 265 so they wouldn’t look silly?

I hit 265 last week, phew!

One two three four plates, in summer season Im no lying. oops not lying "no lying " thats funny.
