I read in the High Times bonus exercise feature that the inhalation of hot burning smoke and gases is one of the most effective ways of expanding the rib cage. That and dumbell pullovers.
Pot causes you to realx. When you abuse it you’re in a constantly relaxed state, you move less and eat more. Result? Less curculating test and weight gain not due to MJ but due to your habits of abuse lack of movement. We don’t know if MJ causes lower test or is estrogenic or the habits of behavior you develop from abuse.
I have smoked for years and nothing helps me do long sessions of cardio or sprints like MJ. I totally zone out with my thoughts some place else and my body just running for hours if need be.
Thruthfully MJ smoking in a responsible manner by individuals of a “healthy” mindset (not Loosers) can be very beneficial and relaxing. It can open lines of communication between spouses and increase your quality of life, taste in food and sex. Just don’t abuse it, once or twice per week should be plenty. Anymore then that and your the equivalent of an alcoholic on pot. Any good substance can be abused and made to look bad. MJ is far safer then alcohol and certainly cigarettes.
Now MJ and weightlifting? Depends on the individual like all tings. For me i had to go light, some more “tense” guys i know can go as heavy as they want, again it depends on you, the individual.
MIndeffer01, I just wanted to thank you for the response to my thread, although i also wanted to mention that Ebbinghaus, the reasercher known as the “father of modern cognitive psychology/memory research” did ALL of his studies using ONLY himself as a subject! Now this may not be as ecologically valid as more modern studies, but should not be dismissed as uncredible. Thanks.
thought i’d bring up this topic again…well lets see im a heavy pot user and i love to workout… i dropped 75 lbs 260 to 185 while smoking pot…all i did was a low carb diet and a rigorous workout…lifting weights running (helps keep lungs in tune) cardio.
i dont see any problems smoking pot and trying to build muscle or burn fat…as long as you have a steady eating habbit and eat healthy you will be fine… some people think that pot makes you lazy…that is complete B.S …though some pot will relax you… there is alot… and i mean alot… of diffrent kinds of pot out there that have diffrent effects… this is caued by crossbreeding with diffrent variations of plants…so dont believe anyone that says smoking pot is bad for burning fat…total lie… and now im proof

Each comes up with an optimal routine and diet, specifically arranged and designed for them in mind, including stuff they may already know is effective. Guy A is “Sir-smoke-a-lot” and Guy B is our square. They begin their diets (very strict) and training (intense) and continue for 8 weeks with only 1 difference.

So what? You’re sayin that I’m a fuckin square?
I was actually thinking about this issue today after a discussion/argument I had with my sister today. Why do most “cool” kids nowadays think that other kids who don’t smoke up are losers?
Why do people smoke weed anyways? To forget their problems? To relax? To have fun? Fuck man, all that shit happens when I go to the gym and bang plates for an hour or 2!
The difference between my release and your release is that mine builds my body and makes girls want to touch me. Yours makes you laugh and eat fuckin Doritos.
(Sorry about my rant but I’ve been steamin about that for a few hours now and had to get that off my chest.)

Just chimeing in on one of my favorite subjects. I quit pot for 6 months this year but have started again. I am a daily/heavy smoker when I am smoking. Anyhow, I have been on a cutting diet/workout for the past 3 months. I have lost 23 lbs. 220 down to 197 following a strict diet and exercise plan. I feel that even though I habitually smoke I have been successful in changing my body.
I don’t know if I would have had better results without any THC in my system, but I think I did well anyway. Now I am about to embark on gaining LBM with a new diet and exercise plan. I was really wondering if I should just quit again or will I still get good results doing it how I do it now. I would like to add that pot does make people lazy, but if you put your mind to working out, you can succeed. I consider this my only vice in life, besides having a few drinks on my cheat night.
Working out for me is a hobby/lifestyle now, I am not competing or anything. So I kick around quiting for the Bodybuilding benefits versus that I really enjoy weed. Decisions of a 35 year old man…[/quote]
I would say quit. I have a friend who I was lifting with and sure you can cut weight while on pot but when we went to do a bulking cycle he continued to lose weight since pot cuts the appetite. As soon as he quit smoking his appetite came back and he started to gain mass at a steady pace. Ofcourse I think smoking pot is just a bad idea altogether.
I don’t think it’s the THC, that is bad I think it’s the smoking part. This is one of the reasons pot smokers don’t get fat, putting that shit in your lungs makes your body work so much harder, than it would normally, This is obviously bad from a recovery, hormonal standpoint.
I used to smoke back in the day, and it had its plusses and minuses. There were times I would smoke up then just absolutely rock house on the cottage cheese before bed. And there certainly isn’t anything wrong with that. However, there was plenty of times I would rock out on candy or something. That’s more of a self control thing, not smoking per se. But that’s how the munchies goes.
Then as far as effect on training, it was definitely negative. If I smoked the night before training, the weight I moved went down at least 10#. Clearly not good. I never smoked before lifting, I view that as straight up moronic but that’s just me. As far as smoking say Friday night when you’re not lifting until Monday… not great but I guess it’s not awful. But who do you know that only smokes on a certain night of the week? That’s no fun

However, it does cause one to lose the ability to use proper capitalization and punctuation.

I had the same effect, I would get high before training, hit the gym and lift for 2 to 3 hours, the sessions were super great, I was in the zone the whole time with no outside interference, that summer my body changed quite a bit, I gained 22 lbs of lean body mass with minimal body fat, if I was to train high again I would definitely use anti estrogens like M.
My biggest concern would be the same with tobacco. If it causes vaso-constriction then less nutrients will be getting to the muscle tissue.
