Post Your Training Program!

Bump. I have a few updates.

I use 4 week cycles with my youngsters. I usually take 6 months with them to get to proper technique. Training 2 times per week. During this time, it is all about learning proper technique and timing.

After that, I create personalised programs for them. They often start training 3 or 4 times per week.

My basic template for exercise selection is:

30% snatch exercises.
35% clean exercises.
30% squat variations.
5% other stuff.

(A little more clean than snatch exercises to account for jerk training.)

Then I sometimes choose to exchange either ALL snatches or ALL cleans for corrective exercises for the full 4 weeks if I spot holes in technique.

Intensity and volume is tailored to what phase we are in right now. In the long run, I aim to end up at an average rep intensity of around 45-47%.

(Edit: The average rep intensity is based on their average total from their last 3 contests.)

I try to use a lot of different patterns and not only straight sets, like wave loading, pyramids etc. to keep training fun and motivating.

Monday:
Snatch
Power Clean
Front Squat
Upperbody pressing (dips or benching)

Wednesday:
Rack Jerk (I do power jerks)
Snatch Pull
Back Squat
Goodmornings

Friday
Power Snatch
C&J
Front Squat
Jumping exercises

I’m trying to do a 4th session on sundays, which would be Back Squats and some ab work. I also do some chin ups and ab work at home on my rest days.

Monday-Saturday:

Work up to max for day snatch, take off 20 kilos for 4-8 sets of 2.
Work up to max clean for day, take off 20-30 kilos, 4-8 sets of 2.
Alternate front/back squat for 5x3.

Random assistance stuff as I feel the need for.

If I feel ambitious, I will do a second session on Tuesdays, Thursdays, maybe Saturdays with the following:

Power Snatch from blocks: 4x3
Power Clean from blocks: 4x3
Some kind of squat thrown in

Sundays: Yoga.

Did you work up to this kind of volume?? How did you do it and how long did it take?? What are your current lifts??

I’m interested in doing something like this once I get into my own place again and set up my gym. Thanks!!

Yes, I worked up to it. Did 3 days a week for a while, then 4, then 5 and so on. It took me three months or so to go from three sessions a week up to the eight per week I try to get in these days. My personal bests are 160/125. I’m not there right now though.
