Quick question. I was wondering if it was necessary to use a Post Workout Drink after a workout… would eating foods with similar nutritional components suffice? For example, what if I just had some fruit and protein powder? Or perhaps some skim milk? Wouldn’t that be just as effective if I made the sure simple sugars and protein were in similar ratios to what is required?
That is what I did and it worked well enough for me (to lose fat without losing too much muscle). I used bananas, strawberries, milk, yogurt, and Grow! low carb protein powder.
Some people don’t like fruit because it fills up your liver with sugar before your muscles, but to counteract that all I did was eat more fruit (so a little more carbs).
The only thing if you don’t want protein powder, then eggs are probably the next best bet for fast-digesting protein.
I mean, for someone just wanting to lose fat, get in shape, etc, I think it’s fine. I am just trying Surge right now just to see how it works. I lost 65 lbs over the past year and now am working on building some muscle.
Liquid is always going to be a better choice for post-workout nutrition. You want to get that stuff into your muscles ASAP. If all you can manage is a solid food meal, so be it. At least you’re doing that. Most people don’t do anything. Just watch your ratios and make sure you’re getting enough P+C.
