Post workout carbs

Which is better for postworkout protein shakes, dextrose or maltodextrin? I keep hearing conflicting opinions on this, but I would think that the dextrose would cause a greater insulin spike faster than the maltodextrin would, thus making it a better post-workout carb.

Go a few issues back and read JM Berardi’s articles. Ideally, you should use both dextrose(glucose) and maltodextrin(glucose polymers) in your post workout drink…a 50/50 mix. 0.8g of carbs per kg bodyweight and 0.4g protein per kg, preferably from a low molecular weight, hydrolysed whey protein. In the future we will likely see the increased use of powdered honey in sports nutrition which has been shon to lead to greater glycogen storage than maltodextrins.
