Porn Addiction

Yea - it really is the immediate access to the kinkiest sex imaginable that makes the difference.

What the hell is a 13 year old boy going to think when he sees hundreds of hours of that shit? I mean - you’re going from zero to sixty instantly. There’s no natural progression, or step-wise initiation into sexual behavior.

I mean, I have no problem with consenting adults engaging in whatever they want - hell, I’m a dirty motherfucker myself…lol…within reason of course. But a kid with no sexual experience seeing the kind of stuff that’s available today (as Cortes said, this is unprecedented) - man that can be a recipe for a variety of BIG problems…
Can’t answer my question so you resort to a smart ass comment…lol. And yes…all that violence could certainly have a detrimental effect on a kid. Now, please show me proof of your insistence that I’m talking out my ass or STFU since you can’t seem to have an intelligent conversation on the matter. You know damn well that the kind of imagery we’re talking about absolutely can have an effect, and if you truly don’t think so you’re even dumber than I initially
thought…

Well, clearly at 22 years old you’ve completed your Phd in Clinical Psychology (with a specialization in porn addiction of course)and can provide us with a myriad of peer reviewed studies (published in actual medical journals) you’ve completed regarding this subject matter.

I hope you’ll include brain scans of teenage boys with comparison to say, 30 years ago so you can definitively make the official diagnosis of ā€œtalking out one’s assā€. I’m sure that’s in the ICD-9 book you’re undoubtedly completely familiar with.

Looking forward to your info!
Actually to an extent it’s been very well researched, just under the term ā€œInternet addictionā€ because they have never specified for porn alone… But a very
high number of those addicts were on porn sites… Also seeing how porn and social networking is the most used feature in Internet access… Why do you need such evidence to know it simply causes problems?? Can’t people just use intuition and a bit of common knowledge… Not saying you are wrong in your questions but for this case you have people who had a problem, by the thousands… Some of them start giving up the porn and low and behold look how much better they feel? You don’t have to agree with the research but the fact is people are getting their lives back because of the help so why bash it?
What the hell are you talking about? Please read the whole thread before commenting and quoting me out of context. The 22 year old wonder boy there decided to make a smart ass comment about my agreement with Cortes that all this access to such hardcore porn at such a young age can absolutely have a detrimental effect on young teenagers.

I’m the one AGGREEING that there could definitely be addiction issues because of that. Instead of intelligently discussing why he disagrees, he just acts like a typical internet dick and drops a wise ass comment. So I sarcastically asked him for his proof that it doesn’t. You get it now? You just literally got the whole thing backwards.

You sound very angry like a guy who is dying to earn respect from his peers. I never insulted your character yet here you are going off. Yet you want an intelligent conversation? Cool beans

You want me to show proof yet you have showed any proof of any sort. Cool beans once again. Once again calm down on the insults makes you seem insecure. Yes… I’m 22 I know…

Ahhh Stoya. Imhungry, from a recovering addict’s point of view that’s not particularly helpful …

Jokes aside, a simple gif like that would drive me to relapse when I was in the deepest depths of my addiction. A thought that amazes me now that I’ve been clean for so long, but that’s how extreme this disease can be.

Something interesting I found in Scientific American:

http://melindawenner.com/Clips_files/smut.pdf

I’m not for or against porn. Sexuality can be a beautiful thing. It can also be extremely ugly. As someone already said, porn is a tool. It can be used for better or for worse. I feel that it’s had positive and negative effects on me as a person.

That’s interesting, especially the interpretation in the last section:

I thought it was interesting too. That last paragraph could be applied to many things. When I used to be religious, I found the ā€œtemptationā€ to be uncontrollable. After ā€œrenouncingā€ my religion, I found that I could take it or leave it. I didn’t feel guilty about it anymore so the urge dissipated. The more we dwell on it, the harder it is to resist it. This worked for me with my diet as well. The more I focused on eating ā€œhealthy,ā€ the more likely I was to focus on food in general and binge. When I took a step back and allowed myself to relax a bit, cutting became much easier.

I can see that happening.

I have also wondered if the devout have actually had as much of a problem their church has been telling them they’ve had.

I have a friend who I’ve known for a long time before he found God. We both partied together and I admit we partied hard but never in a way that ever said to me we were out of control and not really anything out of the ordinary for people in their early twenties.

According to my recollection we just had some fun and were pretty normal but according to him he had a drinking problem was a drug addict and was recklessly sleeping with loose women (yeah right dude had a hard time getting laid!)

I’m never touching my own penis again…

lol at how this thread blew up

I hope someone else has already bitch-slapped you for making this ridiculous statement, but if not:

I have been married to She Say for almost 19 years…the idea that grabbing her ass would inspire anything but passion is insane…I know that popular idiot culture likes to promulgate older married men lose interest sexually in their wives, but it doesn’ mean it’s 100% true. I have friends that complain they’ve lost interest in their wives, but these are the guys spending 12 hours on Sunday watching football, spending 6 hours on Wednesdays playing poker with ā€˜their boys’ and taking golf vacations with ā€˜their boys’…no wonder they’ve lost interest in their wives as I can’t imagine their wives are very interested in them.

It’s really up to you whether or not you let longevity ruin a relationship. Don’t buy into your older friend’s comment.

I also fantasize backwards…I’m more interested in thinking about things we’ve already done or recently done than in things I’d like to do,
I read somewhere years ago that men tend to look back and fantasize about banging women they didn’t actually bang while women fantasize about men they actually have banged in the past…is this the same as what you’re saying…kinda?

lol. People tend to remember things in ways that they want to. Logical people call this delusion.

Not that this will prove anything, but I’m on day 2, porn-free. Although, Stoya up above nearly caused me a nasty relapse.

No Ifeelmyself.com, no redtube, no Chive, no Boston Barstool, no Fleshbot.

Work is much more boring.
