Pope Right On About the Muslims
RoadWarrior wrote:
In Iran, supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei used the comments to call for protests against the United States. He argued that while the pope may have been deceived into making his remarks, the words give the West an ?excuse for suppressing Muslims? by depicting them as terrorists.

Perhaps he should read the words below:

MOGADISHU, Somalia (Reuters) – Gunmen shot and killed an Italian nun at a children’s hospital in Mogadishu on Sunday in an attack that drew immediate speculation of links to Muslim anger over the pope’s recent remarks on Islam. A high-level Islamist source told Reuters the attack may well be linked to the controversy over Pope Benedict’s recent remarks about holy wars, which have been taken by many Muslims as an attempt to portray their religion as innately violent.

They are not peaceful people, they are murdering dogs. They are the true infidels guilty of killing innocents.
Agreed. Amazing how that murdering scumbag protests the Pope’s ‘statement’ by murdering a nun, a woman of faith. He probably raped her first, all for the supreme joy of Allah, or some other horseshit like that.

fuck the pope, and the mullahs, and george bush, and everybody who keeps sticking their nose into the region of the world that they have no place in, whatsoever. this is America, we live HERE, not in the middle east. if we could keep our big god damn noses out o the rest of the worlds ass, there would be allot of people still alive.for every douche bag that calls Islamic’s a dog, the same is being said about them on the other side. hate only breeds hate, until you guys can get that through your dumb ass heads we are just gonna be picking up bodies in neat new places around the world. these are war countries, who have been fighting since the beggining of civilization. you really think a queer in a big ass hat, or a backwoods retard in a $5,000 suit is gonna make a difference? it will, only by adding to the body count of our people and theirs.the rest of the world knows whats up, they have also been in the game for quite some time. not us though, here we go again, bored rich and running low on oil. get out of the middle east and focus on our economy, feed our people, shelter our homeless, change our major source of fuel so we don’t have to mix it up with the crazies of the world. i think we should seal up the borders for a while and take a time out to reflect on what we have done, we have been a naught naught monkey for a while now and it’s starting to blow up in our faces. do you really think that by writing Muslims are dog’s that you are putting yourself on some higher level? you are becoming a dog yourself, you sit when they say sit and you attack when they say attack. you make an awesome dog, congrats.

What do you think your keyboard parts are made from? Your monitor case? How about that fancy new carpet you are so affraid of staining?

As long as you depend on petroleum byprosducts for your comfort and convenience - not to mention necessity - you are a part of the world stages, and the events that unfold on them.

But you would actually have to have an open mind beyond that which you have displayed in this post to understand.

Personally, I’d prefer oil be used for capital goods than simply burned… there is certainly every possibility that we could reduce our need for oil if we were willing to require alternatives. That, however, would also require some opening of minds.

Mind you, I’m not trying to support Maz’s viewpoint either.

It’s a matter of efficiency. We could all be driving electric cars right now - but is that really the most efficient? Where does the electricity come from to recharge the cars?

About 85% of it would come from fossil fuels of some sort - wouldn’t you say? How efficient is that? I am not being a smartass - I don’t know. But it seems to me that the more times energy changes states, the less efficient it will become.

That is the slam against Ethanol - it creates a net energy deficit. Not efficient at all.

Not to mention the fact that whatever we do, in terms of alternative energy, across the Pacific are 1,300,000,000 screaming Chinamen, who are developing a thirst for oil that will make us look like paragons of moderation and temperance by comparison, and who historically have shown little regard for “environmental issues.”

There is nothing to prevent China from invading and occupying oil-rich regions to secure their future reserves…except maybe us.

That is, if we are prepared to go tete-a-tete with a country equipped with a nuclear arsenal, which can afford to lose many more millions of its population than we can.

Orrrrrr, maybe we just become buddies with the Chinese and together with the US we take over all the middle east and keep the oil for ourselves. Those Muslims who don’t like it we can send to meet their 40 ugly virgins.

Oh, but Lorisco, how could you suggest such a thing? The goals of China and the U.S. are diametrically opposed.

After all, the Chinese would simply be plundering these countries for their oil, whereas we would be bringing Democracy, Liberty, and the Rule of Law to the poor, oppressed victims of despotic regimes, which are as we speak developing nuclear weapons of their own, and which probably harbor terrorists to boot!!!. The fact that these regimes also happen to control vast supplies of petroleum would be completely outside of our considerations.

But if there were not oil over there - the terrorists would have dick in the way of funding.

Oil has fueled both sides of this. Were we really the Imperialist pigs we have been accused of - we would simply take over the region and raise the Stars and Stripes.

In my worthless opinion, if we had called a spade a spade, and honestly persued interests that would solidify our well being - the world would still hates us - but the oil supply would be stable and not at the whim of radical islamo-fascist supporters.

Rainjack, how efficient is it to spend 400 billion dollars and thousands of lives largely because of the historic need for stability of oil supplies in the Middle East?

Seriously, widen the thinking a little bit. I’m not casting blame at anyone, but given the road we are traveling, it may just be cheaper to drive electric cars.

Also, as I’ve tried to bring up before, there are factors to consider above and beyond simple economic factors. There are costs and issues that economics is very poor at taking into account.

That’s not such a worthless opinion, RJ, if fact, I wholeheartedly agree. I think the US has really wasted a lot of time and energy in the name of public opinion, by calling this little campaign everything but what it is, or should be: an aggressive war of conquest.

You mentioned efficiency earlier. What could have been more efficient than mooring a fleet of oil tankers right behind the battleships and the aircraft carriers outside Basra, and as soon as the pipelines had been captured, to route them to the tankers, fill them all to capacity, and then sail away before any resistance movement could get organized?

We could do the same thing all over the Persian Gulf, then move on to the Caspian sea, the Black Sea, the Mediterranean and the North Sea.

We would fly special flags on these Liberty Tankers, of course. They would be black, the color of black gold, with the proud emblem of the elite fraternal society at Yale attended by some of our nation’s finest politicians…not to mention John Kerry!

I don’t think a battleship could pull a tanker. Especially a full one.
rainjack wrote:

It wouldn’t need to. The Suezmax tankers (Chevron’s Altair Voyager, formerly the Condoleezza Rice, illustrated above) carry up to 200,000 tons of crude, and have a top speed of around 16 knots. All they would need would be a frigate or a few destroyers for escort. And this would hardly even be necessary in the beginning stages of Operation Oil for Freedom. I mean, whose navy would pursue us? Iran’s? Saudi Arabia’s? Bahrain’s? Gimme a break. It’s only when we expand our operations into Venezuelan, Russian and British waters that the big guns might come in handy.

Drink up, me hearties, yo ho!

That or fill up an oil tanker (supersize preferably) and leave for some assholes like Hezbollah to sink with Iranian missles. Then they can explain to all the Muslim countries in the area that they killed all the fish for Allah. Similar to the same stunt they pulled in Lebanon, the oil spill there was tragic, however it won’t hurt the fishing for Japan or Korea where we buy most of our fish from.

oh ok so that makes it right? your rambling has shone a light onto another epidemic that has siezed this country, laziness. it’s too easy, why change? show me a keyboard made of hemp and i’ll replace mine, or a monitor case, or my fancy new carpet(which i don’t really have, i’m not that wealthy).

Actually, the British beat us to it.

But thanks to Lawrence of Arabia and his big mouth, they had to give it all to the Hashemite Bedouins.

You want somebody to blame for the current situation in the Middle East, here’s your man.

It’s thinking like this thats keeps Muslim problem moving. They burn down four churches and kill a nun and nobody says/does anything. They go all to pieces over a couple of cartoons, they attack and destroy and we do nothing. You can’t run and hide from the problem. This is the beginning of Armegeddon. You would do well with the French. Chirac is currently taking the same position with the Mideast, that his predecessors took with the Nazi’s. They ignored the Nazi problem right up to the point they were invaded and taken over.

Some people don’t learn from history. The Muslims are counting on the “Western” side of the world to hide their heads in the sand like political ostriches arguing that we should just leave them alone and the problem will go away. There is a “Muslim” problem all over the world and the won’t stop until every woman in the world is wearing a burka and the only available book is the Quaran. Listen to their leaders, the are voicing this daily while they blow up England, Spain, Bali and everything in their path. Do you need 9/11 everyday in order to understand the gravity of the problem?

A constant theme we hear over and ove is that the Non-Muslim world is in love with living and they are in love with dying. Be that so, we should as many attain martyrdom as possible. They say they are peaceful and misunderstood people.

You notice not one “elder” or anybody ever comes out against the atrocities. While they are telling people like you that Al Quaida doesn’t represent all Muslims they are cheering them on from within. Burn down four mosques and see what happens.

No - what it shines a light on is your hypocrisy. You sit there and tell everyone to wake up and quit using oil - while you are addicted to it and its by-products just as much as everyone else.
Headhunter wrote:

Say what you will about the Ottoman Turks…they sure made a mighty comfy upholstered footstool!

Actually, had the Osmani Caliphate not made the mistake of siding with the Germans in the First World War, it would likely have held onto Iraq, Syria and its possesions in the Arabian Penisula.

Without the power vacuum that resulted from the carving up of the Empire, Islam would not have become as fragmented and resentful of the West as it has become, and the Turks (perhaps the most Westernized people of all of the Islamic world) would have maintained close ties with Europe (and by extension with America), probably with Kemal Ataturk instituting the same reforms as he would have done anyway.

Imagine Saudi, Syrian and Iraqi oil in the hands of moderate, secular, European Turks, rather than a bunch of Wahhabi and Baathist Bedouins. Imagine an Iran in which there was no Shi’ite Revolution (as there would likely have not been, without a disaffected, West-hating Persian underclass).

Imagine as well (and this may earn me a few flames, but so be it) a world in which the British did not have a Mandate of Palestine from which to hastily and guiltily cobble together a “State of Israel” which, while great if you happen to be Jewish, is a gigantic thorn in the side of the entire Islamic world, and one more reason for a Muslim to hate the United States, Israel’s sugar daddy.

So no, Headhunter, while I don’t advocate bringing back the Osmani Caliphate, I think the world would have been a lot nicer place had they stuck around.
