Poor Hip-Hop

I do think having AL Sharpton on is a mistake but who said anything about him being a black leader? I shudder to think what would happen if Fox refused his appearance. Would he cry racism being the reason? I think you know the answer. And what are the reasons why he does not represent you or most black people as you say? Political reasons? His past racist comments? What? He does claim to be a black leader so which black people does he represent? Nas?

I do get it. So now the WHOLE channel is racist because they didn’t edit out “some woman” as you said. Was the fact that no one correct Rather a slip as well? You said no one corrected the woman but no one corrected Rather either.

Again you asked for a black person who was highlighted in a postive fashion. They did. Now you are saying that is not good enough. So you feel Clarence Thomas who rose up from virtually nothing and became a Supreme Court Justice is a bad example? How does his story not resonate with the black community. I am curious? And which black leaders would you like to see on Fox?

Well the company you keep does reflect your stance no? Maybe Nas as well as you should do some research on Moveon.org history of racism. Maybe then, you will you realize what I am talking about. Actually here is one of many quotes.’

‘Stomp Israel Like a Bug’’
Robert Goldberg, writing in the Washington Times, surveys the MoveOn.org Action Forum, an online bulletin board for the Angry Left’'s premier grass-roots organization, and finds it rife with anti-Semitism:

Why the Jews? Or as one post quipped, “Why are the Jews so Jew-y?” According to the mind of Moveon, “(I)t’‘s those GREEDY PIGS who own our mainstream media who are placing RELIGION/POLITICS (ISRAEL) and CORPORATE GREED above the best interests of the American people (peace, democracy, clean air, healthcare, etc.). As we’'ve already agreed, most of these GREEDY PIGS are Jewish.” Fifty percent approved of this post. . . .

Meanwhile, postings (mostly by Jews) pleading for moderation are rejected.

“The amount of anti-Semitic trash on this forum is abhorrent to most Americans. These rants, castigating Israel and Jews in general, are taking MoveOn so far from its roots and avowed purpose.” Well said. But only 21 percent of Moveon members agree.

I have others. The company one keeps often reflects their value system. What are Nas’s values?

You are right that he stirs things up and he calls people on certain things which is good. I don’t know what he is like in his private life either. But the only way Nas can stir things up is by calling him racist? That is slander and he didn’t give one SPECIFIC EXAMPLE. Well you presented Ludacris as an example before. Is he one of the best ones? Again, present to me the rappers who are lauding the military, who are encouraging people to support them, who are denouncing terrorism, who are proud of their country who are not just talking about guns guns, etc. I showed you Paul Wall going to Persian Gulf. Where are the other “best ones” not the “shook ones” (yes, that was Mobb Deep).

Can’t seem to bring yourself to say the US is better than North Korea? Too positive for you?

i used to listen to some old school tracks now and then. but im tired of it now. i may be talking shit about Nas but best believe i bought Stillmatic. my problem with him is how he thinks he can declare what hip-hop is anyway that and hes in no way shape or form the best emcee.

im also not comapring nas to soulja boy. i never did in this whole thread. i told professor x not to compare them because theyre apples and oranges. nas makes political or story telling tracks. soulja boy makes party snap music. my problem isnt if you like either one, its when you start trying to be mad at one for not being like the other when they are seperate styles and seperate sub-genres. like i said, my problem with nas is that he raps a certain way and he thinks anyone who doesnt live up to his standards isnt even hip-hop. for that, nas can fuck himself.

Nas doesn’t think everyone has to rap like him. That’s retarded. He never criticized De La Soul, Das EFX, or even Devin the Dude, and they don’t rap anything like Nas.

Nas is criticizing those that are watering down the music and making the equivalent to hip hop nursery rhymes.

Kanye West is severly underrated. this guy uses some of the most clever wordplay today. (and Prawf X is KANYE not KENYA)

-2 words
-cant tell me nothing/remix

-i wonder…the list can go on man, this guy is absolutely phenomenal. i honestly think hes as underrated as Lupe because his lyrics go over so many peoples heads.

Kanye is not underrated at all. In fact, he’s probably overrated as a rapper. Just because he purposely slurs and uses a drawl doesn’t make him great. Rhyming the second or third to last word in a line isn’t especially clever. He’s just an average rapper with some great production. If you think he’s going over people’s head, then I worry about your intelligence level.

Jay-Z 2 songs off every album? ummm did you not hear American Gangster? almost that entire album was classic. seriously dude, go back listen to American Gangster then get back to me.

American Gangster was better than Kingdom Come, but that’s not saying much. The album was far from classic. There were a few tracks I really liked, but, again, there’s too much filler.

That’s what Jay does. He makes a couple good songs and fills his album with crap. Kingdom Come was pretty weak overall.

The Black Album was ok, but not great. It’s not clever to rhyme words with the same word.

He admitted himself that the second Blueprint was filled with crap. That’s why he re-released it with half the songs.

See a trend yet?
im guessing you havent heard his new song A Billie either

yes, it is clever.

so why doesnt nas come out and critisice britney spears, justin timberlake, and ne-yo? they all make commercial songs too. no, hes just mad that not only was he a struggling artist before -in terms of sales, not nesecerialy quality, but now everyone went and switched shit up on him and no one wants anything to do with him now. nas is bitter, its that simple. fuck him for thinking hes the grand master of hiphop and what the deciding factor of hiphop is. the whole hip-hop is dead b.s. is just another gimmick.

coming out saying everyone is weak and not hip-hop is just as damn gimmicky as any other hip-hop act, period. some people say, oh im gonna play the thug, im gonna play the pimp, im gonna play activist, now its im gonna play the guy whos going to revive this supposed golden era of hiphop. if anything, it just seems to me people cant let go. your favorite artist retired, get over it. youre as bad as people who still listen to Elvis.

yes, it is clever.

so why doesnt nas come out and critisice britney spears, justin timberlake, and ne-yo? they all make commercial songs too. no, hes just mad that not only was he a struggling artist before -in terms of sales, not nesecerialy quality, but now everyone went and switched shit up on him and no one wants anything to do with him now.

nas is bitter, its that simple. fuck him for thinking hes the grand master of hiphop and what the deciding factor of hiphop is. the whole hip-hop is dead b.s. is just another gimmick.

coming out saying everyone is weak and not hip-hop is just as damn gimmicky as any other hip-hop act, period. some people say, oh im gonna play the thug, im gonna play the pimp, im gonna play activist, now its im gonna play the guy whos going to revive this supposed golden era of hiphop.

if anything, it just seems to me people cant let go. your favorite artist retired, get over it. youre as bad as people who still listen to Elvis.

its so simple. just keep running with this “real hip-hop” horseshit so you can get all these tryhards to buy your shit. all these people who were 10 when TCQ last album came out but could go on a 90’s hip-hop trivia show.
cuz theyre the real deal yo.

lol lame

youre right no one will be playing this song 20 years from now because people will probaly be listening to some other type of music then, its what you dont understand; that this is just a time where people want to let loose and party. he caters to that market and you just hate on it.[/quote]

I am still listening to hip hop made 10, 15, 20 years ago. The good stuff stays around. There is a lot of good stuff from the past and some that is current. Just seems like the quality is dropping a bit overall. Really good acts are rare these days. The same could be said for Heavy Metal. Much better back in the day.

It’s like classics aren’t made anymore. You can almost tell straight away that a song will be like a one-hit wonder etc.
