I’m a little late chiming in, but what the hell.
To Patricia:
"And just a big shame, shame on you for that assumption that every woman out there has no interest beyond “toning” in weight training. I am so utterly pissed after reading some of these posts. After nearly 20-years of weight training, and we’re still at the same bullshit assumptions that were prevalent when I began. "
Was this aimed at Rebecca for assuming that if you have a woman’s forum that only that you’ll have too many of those “toning” questions? I’m just curious because you said you were pissed after reading “some” of these posts. I didn’t see any other ones that assumed anything. Who elso were you referring to???
I read them all thoroughly, and think you are offended because Solo’s girl doesn’t want to be muscular. But that is her choice. She was just pointing out that some women prefer to take it beyond toning and some don’t. Solo was just defending the women who do worry about the possible effects of weight lifting… especially, if a person is inexperienced. She didn’t say or assume (neither did anyone else in this thread, for that matter) “that every woman out there has no interest beyond “toning” in weight training” as you are accusing people of assuming. To quote solo: “I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with being a very bulky muscular woman, it’s just not what my goal is.”
Just because you prefer to be more muscular that the average woman(yes, more women prefer not to have massive muscles), doesn’t mean that their are woman out there who aren’t interested in toning or whatever else that may be different from what your goals are. We all have different goals as to what our body should look like, but more than likely every person who reads this website, is already lifting and eating healthy or just interested in learning more about it, so that’s where we can learn from each other. We all have different expertise, some bodybuilding, power lifters, ect. That brings me to another point… Ko posted: “She wants to here from the female athletes out there: fighters, powerlifters, strongwomen, bodybuilders” So does that mean, you don’t want to hear from a figure competitor, model, fitness instructor… Hell, for that matter, one can be a person who doesn’t have any experience with a thing on this site, but doesn’t mean that they can learn from it. So I think you are the one that is being judgemental, only wanting woman in your category to post. If you were asking a question aimed particularly at that group, then that is one thing, but this is a thread about having a “woman’s” forum - not having a woman powerlifter forum or a woman’s fighter forum. Also, why would Ko think we misunderstood you and thought you were talking to women out there who work out just because their boyfriend works out?? What gave him that idea?? Do you know someone who posted on this thread that works out only because their boyfriend works out??
I personally think you are paranoid and very defensive of the fact that you have large muscles. That is your choice and no one on this thread has said that is a bad thing. Be proud of your accomplishments, but don’t be upset because there are girls that want muscles, but not as big as yours. And if you are upset that you are in the minority, meaning a woman who wants larger than average muscles, get over it… we are all in the minority of something. Shit, everyone on this site is in the fuckin minority if they are healthy.
Look at it this way: Just because I prefer short hair on me, doesn’t mean I don’t like your long hair on you. To each his own!!
And I believe the orininal question should have been directed completly at the woman who are reading, but not posting. Why should the rest of you give a fuck if there is a woman’s category? Doesn’t mean you have to read or even post there for that matter!!
(before you think I was prowoman’s forum, I like to clear that up by stating I never declared my opinion on that one way or another)
Oh yeah… Patricia… the shame is all on you!
