What does a typical meal look like? I really can’t afford to get 400 g/day of complete (i.e., animal) proteins–with chicken at $2/lb I can’t afford to pay rent and eat 4lbs of meat a day. Plants, however, are cheap. Right now I shoot for 6 meals, each with a can or 3 cups of veggies, 40-60 g of whole protein, 1 serving nuts, 1 cheese. with incomplete proteins this comes to about 80g/meal, but I’m getting very little grain so I’m missing so amino acids.
Not everyone has to have 2 g. per lb. for protein. I’m not saying I strictly follow one way or the other, but Don Alessi said in a previous interview that 1.8 g/kg was the high end of his protein recommendation (slightly less than 1 g. per lb). I take the middle-ground approach and keep mine between 1-1.5 g/lb.
Does anyone know if cod liver oil is ok. It taste like ass, but it’s high in EPA/DHA and it’s cheap. It’s much cheaper then fish oil caps! The only thing that conserns me is that it is very high vitamin A and D. Does anyone think this could be a problem or does anyone know what CP thoughts are on this.
What type of brands has everyone been taking?
For BCAA’s Glutamine Postworkout ect…
Anyone have any good results with reishi?
A little suggestion for all of you who love to shit. Buy Ground Flax seeds, I get a product called forty flax. I have it 2-4 times a day when i don’t want the damn veggies. It has Healthy Fats, Fiber, Aminos, Vitamins and minerals.
I remember thinking that too much cod liver oil was toxic. There’s a few threads on it, so you might want to do a search.
I got 100g of carbs from greens, and yes I had to eat a hell of a lot of greens. I started getting half of my green carbs from peas after a while - it was just too fatiguing.
Oh. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I did not lose any fat. None. Not until I started doing morning cardio, but by then I was switching into a “dieting” version - and still the fat was very stubborn.
Try Carlson’s Cod Liver Oil. It may be a bit more expensive, but I think you still get more bang for your buck if you get it in liquid form (as opposed to caps). You can find it at vitaminlady.com or many health food stores. The lemon flavored tastes like lemon-flavored oil (imagine that!). No fish taste at all. Plus it has 1 gramDHA/EPA per tablespoon.
As far as Vit D toxicity (something you do NOT want), just make sure you get your levels tested at some point. I know Dr. Mercola suggests one teaspoon per fifty pounds of bodyweight per day. If you’re exceeding that amount already, you may want to consider picking up Carlson’s fish oil for additional omega 3s and have both throughout the day.

If you’re gonna use cod liver oil for EPA/DHA, why not just use liquid fish oil? I don’t know what you pay for the cod oil, but another forum member turned me on to Health From the Sun’s Ultra Omega-3 liquid fish oil. It’s molecularly distilled, and it has over 1 g. EPA/DHA PER TEASPOON. Dirt cheap if you look in the right places too.
I just embarked on the CP diet (or whatever you want to call it.)I’m 5’10" 201 lbs at about 14%BF. I’m coming back after a layoff due to a neck injury. I’m a submission wrestler/mixed martial artist but my goals are to perform my best and I’d like to shed a few lbs of fat. I’ll keep you posted as to how it goes.
Monty, cod liver oil is of benefit because of it’s vit A and, particulary, its vit D levels. I use it because I only see the sun about three months out of the year (Pacific NW) and I have dealt with some depressive issues in the past (which adequate vit D levels can help). It’s not a bad idea for most people during the fall and winter months, really.
I’ve been doing this for about two weeks for maintainance and I like it. Still suscpicious of its efficacy–I just came off a strict ketogenic diet where I lost a lot of weight, so I’m trying to bring my metabolism back up. Anyway, I eat a canful of greens, at least, 40-60g whole protein, a handful of walnuts, a slice of provolone, and some flax oil–I’m running out, my last bottle got thrown out accidentally, 4X a day, then have a 40g protien postworkout with 50g maltodextrin. currently also using t2pro. Anyway, my maintanance levels are really low now, probably at 2300k/Cal–I’m 175 and 9%BF. Gained back a couple pounds of water. I’ve got really low blood sugar, too–probably haven’t topped 100 mg/dl, usually between 80 and 55, and once got as low as 25 mg/dl, but that was after a carb-up. My hormone levels do feel better, and I really think the massive amounts of veggies are responsible for things. I lapse into ketosis when I practice boxing, though. This is really easy to follow and it ain’t breaking the bank, and the food is great, too, I like eating pounds of vegetables a day, I just hope that it works right. Currently doing 10X1, gonna switch to 10X10 after a short layoff and next year starts.
I wonder, does maybe the pure strength program influence the low calorie threshold? It’s certainly not as anabolic as a hypertrophy phase, I’ll see how this diet holds up to that in a month.
Just thought I’d let all the homies know I went from 9.6% to 7.8% in just under 6 weeks with hardly any change in bodyweight…I’m gonna stop at 5%, I should be there by the end of January at the latest. [I’m using meltdown in morning and HIIT sprinting at night (3x week)] Then I’m gonna put on about 30 lbs of muscle. peace
Oh yea, I keep forgetting to ask you, where do you get the liquid fish oil from??? thanks in advance
bump
I see you’ve posted a couple messages for me, but for some reason I can’t actually see what the messages are when I click on the post as they are not listed. Don’t know what’s going on.
I asked you were you got the Liquid fish oil from??
I don’t know what is going on, but I still cannot view your posts, so I posted a separate message to you on here. Try posting on that…hopefully I will get your message there.

iherb.com…health from the sun liquid fish oil, 6.50 a bottle, 1.5 g EPA/DHA per serving, with i believe 40 + servings per bolttle
I still cannot view the new posts, even hitting reload/shift.
Anyway greeKDawg, I did an author search and finally got your message…I use Health From the Sun’s Ultra Omega-3. Tampa-Terry recommended it…almost 1.5 g. EPA/DHA per TEASPOON, and it’s molecularly distilled. It’s only about $6.50/bottle from Iherb. Can’t find a better deal than that.
IHERB.com??you don’t know any chains that carry it, or does anybodoy else know? So, I can just go pick some up immediately??
Do you have an Akins Food Market in your area? This is where I originally saw this particular product. HFS is a pretty common company, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.
