I’d break the tip off that thing in the span of a couple days… Looks cool and sleek, just not practical for me.

Yup. I keep it in my desk drawer. Just a fancy letter and box opener, really.
For a working knife I have a Gerber something or other lockblade. They get replaced frequently because I break them.

I still prefer the good old Swiss Army knife. Victorinox steel holds an edge pretty good, and I use the can opener, etc. a lot. I’ve seen that it’s best to save the blade for cutting, and the screwdriver for screwing. Yep.
I have two knives that I generally carry. In the city I like to have something small that can easily slip into the pocket of whatever I am wearing but is still durable and holds a good edge. For this I carry the Kershaw 5200S, small, light, and a great knife. When I’m hiking, camping, climbing, etc I like something a little bigger so I go with a Benchmade 732BK Ares. A beautiful knife.

The Kershaw

Almost forgot for hunting and other heavy duty outdoor tasks I have a Buck Alfa Hunter (model 193) It is signed by both of the Bucks (before they closed their San Diego factory they had a huge event with major sales and the chance to get your blades signed).
Case makes great knives! Their lockbacks are solid, beautiful knives.
My newest knife.
Boker Automat Kalashnikov74 AUS8A.
Fully automatic. $50 on eBay.
A little bulky but good for everyday carrying.

A non-American knife isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, for a while there (early 90’s) I refused to carry a knife made in America because the quality was generally far behind one made in Japan (Seki City.) [/quote]
Shugs! A fellow Seki fan!
I have been carrying my Hattori 3718 for about six years. It is like an essential item of clothing, and not a day goes by that I don’t use it for something.
It’s perfectly balanced, and simply beautiful, with an ebony handle and brass pommel and guard. I have a few knives, but this is the one that I tuck into my belt without fail.
Kind of amusing coming to the Pocket Knives thread and finding the same weak comments here as on the Handguns and Liberty Control threads.
“Oh heavens! Why would anyone need a…”
(knife, handgun, rifle, shotgun, 20mm cannon…you name it, they abhor it.)
Would anyone on this site ask, “why would anyone need larger, stronger muscles?”
I mean, anyone beside Babalu?
I can imagine some Homo erectus wimp looking in horror at Homo habilus as he put an edge on his latest tool.
“But why would anyone need a pointy piece of flint?”
The proper answer to this is, I believe, “because men use weapons, and I am a man.”
End of story.
(Obviously, armed Vixens can modify this answer accordingly.)

One of the uses to which I put my knife today: fly-hunting.
That, friends, is what is known as point orientation.
The fly was still alive at the time of the photo, but I assure you he would have never made love again.

if I carried a knife around with me i’d get arrested.

Just tell the police that you’re a Sikh.
I heard an amusing story from England a few years back in which a woman driver was attempting to light her cigarette at a stop light with the window down. When a street thug stepped up brandishing a handgun (of course, handguns are illegal in Britain), the lady driver proceeded to set him on fire with her cigarette lighter. Now we may expect new regulations in England banning cigarette lighters.

I’ve got the same one. Had to take the spring out to comply with CT laws. A great, sharp handy blade.
I feel that Bob Dozier knives have got to be the best value for the level of craftsmanship that goes into each blade.

haha lmao, did he have long hair or something? It must have been some lighter.
I have several knives I rotate through. My favorite is my Strider SMF, next would be the Emerson Commander. I also have a CQC7, a Benchmade 707, Spydie Manix and a few customs. Good to see other T Men who carry some quality cutlery!
Oh yeah and to the guy who thinks you only carry a knife to “stab someone” umm, sure, okay. Stick to butter knives, we don’t want you to hurt yourself or others.
I have a Masters of Defense Tempest black 154CM blade. I bought it back a few years ago when I was a firefighter. I managed to cut through a few seatbelts with it. I don’t wear it much now, but it sits handy on my bedside table. -Starkdog
