Please Help a Vegan Out

That never matters. Without fail, every time a vegan/vegetarian asks for any kind of advice, somebody will recommend that he change his beliefs. As if somebody who strictly eats kosher would be told, “Come on, man, bacon is awesome bulking food and freaking delish. Just eat it.”

Works for vegan Joe DeMarco (shown above). 2007 NPC Masters Nationals Lightweight Winner, 2009 NPC Team Universe Lightweight 2nd place. So it’s possible, just uncommon.

Berardi’s wrap-up:

In about a month, he gained 7 pounds of total bodyweight, nearly 5 of which were muscle.

On the flipside, in my own eight week vegetarian/vegan experiment, I lost 12 pounds of total bodyweight but consistently gained strength and appeared leaner.

Fun fact: As coincidence would have it, I’m halfway through a vegan lunch right now. An adzuki bean, corn, and salsa mixture.

I am vegan 100% for ethical reasons. I am not here to preach to anybody or try to make you feel guilty for your own choices. If your lifestyle works for you (and your physique)… great. I have been vegetarian for most of my life and then made the switch to vegan. I never question whether I should be or not. Hence why I don’t feel the need to defend my stance.

I have always put on mass pretty easily. I have a background in rugby and actually developed a relatively muscular physique before i even touched a weight. I have never measured my bf% so I may be off a bit, I’m just going by what I’ve been told. I am flirting with the idea of entering an amateur show in late summer or fall, so I’m trying to diet down slowly. I just started this new meal plan last week. I was eating at least 1300 more calories before.

Chris, I really appreciate the links and kind words.

Thanks Chris. I completely missed that thread.
