my mom got me laid on my 18th birthday. Daughter of a friend of hers.
My wife always tells me not to get all gross and veiny. When I was dropping some tonage she didn’t want me to get to thin, now she doesn’t want me to get get big and nasty looking. She still buys pounds of steak each week so I can’t complain.
Dang I was really hoping this is where we could vent about our girlfriends/wives/fuck buddies telling us not to get too big.
Hell my mom and grandma tell me I need to eat more and get bigger…
Granted my mom’s ideal body is Cory Everson and my Grandpa was a bodybuilder back in the day.
My family is very funny:
- I am completely average: 1.78 m and 74 kg (this is 5’10 and 163 for you americans). Even in my country I am neither tall nor big. My BF percentage is about 11% so I am fairly lean, but when my family sees me in a towel after taking a shower, they say: “you don’t want to be bigger!”.
But when they see that my pants are 30 waist, they say: “You must eat more, you are too skinny!”
Talk me about inconsistence.
- I went to a doctor for a testicle pain, it was diagnosticated a minor varicocele (yes, a real bummer)

But weeks ago, my parents saw a TV report about steroids and rushed to call me: “son, maybe that pain was caused by all the ASTEROIDS you are taking”
It took me about two minutes to realize that they were taking about STEROIDS.
And by steroids they mean whey, fish oil and multivitamins ![]()
(sorry for my bad english)

i always liked to stay still in the middle of the screen and just shoot the asteroids that were heading for me, as soon as you have to move to dodge one then you know it is the bigining of the end.

About 3yrs ago my mother accused me of taking steriods when I came home for a weekend and brought my supplements with me (whey, fish oil and Animal pak). I was 185lbs lol. But back then I was just growing out of my size medium shirts…so I “looked” bigger.
Now that I’m over 200 and bring a cooler of my food home with me whenever i go visit; I make sure to wear my XL shirts and not talk about stuff like that. She just doesn’t get it.
But having a father who is 6-3 and 260 makes my weight “issue” not as terrible. [/quote]
dude my mom thinks whey, glucosamine, and creatine are steroids. i dont think anyones told me i look “too big” lately, the only person who ever told me not to get bigger is my mom.
really the only people who ever try to make a negative comment about me (besides my mom) are morons or cunts to start with, so i cant really let it bother me because those are the people who will try to find anything possible to bring you down with whether you had big muscles or pair of shoes they didnt like. whenever someone does that i just act like whatever theyre trying to talk down about is the greatest thing in the world, i cant let peons get me down.
My wife is the same, she always tells me to not get any bigger. Or accuses me of taking steroids and threatens to leave me if I am!! I usually just laugh at her and go make a shake!
She also gets mad when I’m cooking ground beef, steaks, chickin for my lunches bc I am not making her and my sons lunches too…I’m so selfish! I guess I’m missing something about her being home all day with the kiddo while I’m stuck in the office and don’t have time to leave for lunch. I just tell her to help herself to my plain ground beef and sweet potatoes…she says yuck. Lol, guess you just can’t win those battles.

I found humor in the fact that she complains that I’m not cooking for her yet she has no interest in eating what I’m cooking. Women are nuts.

…Not just that, but yes, that would be a huge red flag to me also.
I eat in order to make progress. If some woman I am with has a problem with me eating MY OWN FOOD when I need to regardless of who is in the house, then I see bigger problems coming later on.
I am really surprised by how much some of you married people let slide.
It isn’t like it disappears. It will get added into a box of everything else she finds a problem with until it is too big to ignore.
I would think someone looking at the future would put an end to that before it actually got bad.
…either that or you aren’t that serious about lifting weights.

More like not that serious about tripping out on my wife over something insignificant. It’s not about letting things slide…or perhaps it is. This isn’t the 50’s or 60’s, she is entitled to her opinion. A marriage is give and take, not “take everything and tell the bitch to get in the kitchen and fix me a sammich!” Believe me, you pick and choose your battles and some things just aren’t worth the hassle.
It boils down to the fact that she isn’t into lifting like I am. She doesn’t understand why I cook my own food. Why I eat seperate things than her. Why I decline eating at someone elses house if the meal isn’t something I want to put in my body. Why I get mad if she needs me to come home right after work for whatever reason instead of hitting the gym. Why I get withdrawals if I miss the gym for too long. Why I might go on the weekend instead of spending ALL day at home. It doesn’t mean we aren’t compatable and don’t have a solid relationship/friendship.
Sometimes I have to miss a workout because of family responsibilities. Doesn’t mean I am not serious about the weights, just that real life sometimes dictates that my own wants/needs are put on the backburner. My wife and kid come first. If they aren’t then you aren’t doing your job as a parent/husband. I think most married men on here will understand.
My mom had some body issues and went on some weird diets back in the day, so when I first brought home some protein powder she reacted by saying “Oh no you’re not doing anything weird are you?” but she mellowed out after.
One time she found a set of Richard Simmons motivational tapes that my friends had given to me as a gag. They were with some other crap at home and I was away at college. She called me up to make sure I wasn’t depressed about my body.

What I am getting at is that what you just wrote would be a HUGE issue if it were me. You can’t do this without eating more food…or training whenever you can fit it in…or not sitting at home so you can go to the gym.
Anyone half way serious would find that to be an issue EVERY SINGLE DAY unless you were taking a rest day.
It seems like something worth clearing up if you plan on actually making significant progress.
Maybe it’s just me…but I would think a musician would avoid getting hitched with someone who literally HATES music.
Any sane parent would be worried if their kid had Richard Simmons tapes.

word dude i feel you. at least you see that you gotta just let little shit go, i see so many couples bicker over the absolute smallest things in the world and it just boggles my mind how they can argue about the most insignificant of things. some things you just gotta take with a shit-eating grin.

Yeah, I thought it was funny more than anything else. “I swear mom, I’m holding it for a friend!”
my mother often tells me that I am getting too big, even though I wouldnt by any means consider myself big at 1.76m and 75kg (i think about 170lbs) and when I told her I need to gain at least 20more pounds of lean mass she was kind of shocked and told me I didnt need to and I was big enough… well at least my father is cool with everything I do thats good for me
My parents have always thought I was pretty big - even before I started lifting - my nickname as a kid was “the little fridge” (Go ahead, laugh)
At 34 I’m still stocky but way more muscular than I was in HS - now when I go home to visit the parents, yep, I get the "You should stop working out, you’re getting too big, lose some weight, blah, blah, blah) I know as my parents they love me to death & say it out of love ![]()
I get mixed reactions from various people (co-workewrs, friends I haven’t seen in a while, etc.) but I know I should cut down to around 190-200 from my current 235 lbs @ 5’8 so I can see my damn abs & give my knees a break…
