Wii U sales literally skyrocketed like 900%. I mean seriously…
That’s funny. I hadn’t heard that yet.

This shit cracks me up more and more. I have interent through Verizon, not fios mind you, it’s called HomeFusion and it’s basically like a a cell phone. I have 20g a month. One game would use up like 25% of a full months allowance. Then add updates and onlineplay, there goes all my internet.
So ya I’ll stick with disks, thanks.
I really hope this is disastrous enough for microsoft that they back out of console gaming completely after this. I would hate to see all their negative restrictions influence other companies. They’re making it pretty clear that they will try their best to force the industry in this direction.
Also, they talk about amazon being “on pace” to sell out of preorders. Well i think its pretty obvious that theres only so many to go around for day one and even Xbone will sell out of launch editions. The funny thing to me though is that the PS4 launch edition sold out in about 20 hours, Xbox One’s is still available. In fact, theyre not even offering the standard edition yet because they obviously have enough of the launch models still.
That right there is telling. Lets not forget Xbox One was available for preorder about 11 hours before PS4 was.
I wouldn’t be suprised if this gen is their last. It’s really hard to say though especially this early. I’d like them to stay just so it pushes Sony to continue to improve.
Xbox 1 will succeed.
The number of kids playing it will outnumber those who are going to moan about it.

Pretty much everything, everywhere says otherwise.
It will be bought immediately by all the xbox die-hards but it will lack longevity i predict. A year after launch, those who will still be willing to deal with it will have already gotten it and the rest will have made up there minds long ago.
Even if it is modestly successful, it may not be enough. If this thing isnt as big as the Xbox 360 it may not be worth it for MS to continue developing consoles.
Here’s my take:
MS looks at the Xbox 360 stats - most people use it to play COD or watch Netflix. They infer that this means people want more (timed) exclusive COD crap and media, instead of realizing it means only shit exclusives have been put out on the 360 the last 3 years. MS also infers that no one cares their paid service (Netflix) is behind a paywall (XBL Gold), so they keep at it. They ignore the fact that something like 27% of all 360’s sold in the US have never been connected to the internet.
MS is hell bent on selling not products by services (and the fess that go along with them), and they want to sell the Xbox One as a “service”. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is both a subsidizes Xbox One with a long term XBL Gold sub, ala a cell phone with contract, and possibly a cable company subsidized version with a long term internet and/or cable tv contract.
IMO the best thing MS could do with the stupid forced kinnect is use it to stop kids from playing M rated games on XBL, but I doubt that would happen.
Will the Xbox One still sell? Sure, but I highly doubt it will outsell the PS4, either near term or long term. There are also rumors about MS having production/quality issues - I smell Red Ring of Death all over again.
Also remember that globally, the PS3 has old sold the 360, and the 360 is seen as basically an American only console. While American makes up a big chunk of the video game market, they aren’t the only ones.
I’m not sure how serious it is, but I saw some grumblings from some large shareholders that want MS to sell off the Xbox division while it’s still worth money. I wonder if they would really try to dump and run away from this mess before it’s really out there. I can just imagine day 1 how many returns come in if the authentication servers aren’t working ala Sim City and Diablo 3.

I can see the One (because of the Kinect) being in direct competition with the Wii, not the PS4. I think Microsoft is more interested in that market vs. the hardcore crowd anyway.

I agree with and have heard the same things. At least one analyst I can remember wanted Microsoft to sell off their video game division.
It’s no surprise they treat the Xbox like a service vs. a product to me anyway. It’s how they treat all their stuff.
So, Microsoft basically lied to everyone about this shit. LOL
Also, sounds like even on the PS4 we wont be seeing ANY DRM, even in the form of online passes. If EA says its wrong, then you know its wrong.

It was nice to see them acknowledge it was a mistake. I know if I got a gamefly game and it turned out to be EA (needed a pass) I shipped that shit right back after playing the campaign if I still wanted too.
So some numbers to solidify PS4’s favor over Xbox One have been appearing…
Amazon took a poll on facebook and the results are shockingly embarrassing for Xbone…it is currently at 14442 votes for PS4, to 884 votes for Xbox One. …Wow
Thats over 17 times more votes for PS4.
Also, Amazon reported that the preorder PS4’s were outselling Xbox One 3 to 2. That was yesterday morning, i have a feeling the disparity might become greater the closer we get to launch. Gamestop has reported that their preorders are heavily favoring PS4 as well.
And as if there wasnt enough bad news for M$, rumors are swirling that the Xbox One console itself is UNABLE to be resold by 3rd parties. AKA no buying used consoles, period. Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny but when asked on twitter they simply responded “We do not have any information on this right now” or something very similar.
That response doesnt exactly promote confidence.

Aw man Microsoft… I mean who knows if that’s true or not, but the fact that they responded with anything other than “Well of course they can be resold, don’t be ridiculous!” is just another shot in their own foot at this point.

I heard pre-orders are 3-1 as of this morning.
Microsoft’s gaming division is done, there’s no way that they can recover from this. Nobody will buy enough Xbox Ones to force a profit and nobody will trust any future products if they were miraculously capable of staying afloat until then.
All Sony can do at this point is continue to thrive and become the single driving force of the game market for at least the next few years, unless some dark horse rises from the shadows and gives it something to fight for.

Was waiting for Atari to make a surprise return to console production by making a next gen gaming machine that blows everything else out of the water.
One day…

Let’s not get too hasty. All they have to do is create a Dora the Explorer dance party game using the Kinect or some other equally lame garbage and attract the Wii crowd. There biggest problem, imo, is the price tag.

Ha, SNES reigns supreme! Apparently there’s going to be a remastered version of Duck Tales out there somewhere soon, do want. Do want a lot.
While not really my thing, I think the MOVE for the PS3 did a much better job replicating what people liked about the Wii than the Kinect. The Kinect is the most infuriating thing in the world but the MOVE actually worked well and they made some similar games to what drew the bulk of the Wii crowd.

Ive seen some similar reports.
Also, the PS4 was outselling Xbox One on Amazon in america 3-2. That means internationally there will be a much bigger margin, as the PS3 was more popular just about everywhere else overseas. Also, across the board, PS4 games are outselling Xbone games.
Some Gamestop Stores are reporting 3 to 1 in favor of the PS4 as well. A few people who work at gamestop stores have said that they are actually ordering around 3 to 4 times more PS4’s for preorder than Xbox One’s because they havent had the demand.
I also think its interesting that some Gamestop stores are apparently handing out flyers to educate people of Xbone’s restrictions. Obviously they anticipate a lot of kids parents going out and buying these things, then wanting to bring them back immediately when they realize this shit. Or possibly even lawsuits. Either way…this is such a marketing disaster.
