Playstation 4 Announced

LOL

Then their VP basically said they arent worried about it, there are more conventions coming up such as TGS that will win people over.

So first they said “wait til the reveal, you’ll love it”

Then they said “wait til E3, you’ll love it then”

Now they are saying “No really, wait til like TGS or something, im sure you’ll come around”

They are really shooting themselves in the foot at every turn. The comments on IGN regarding pretty much any Xbox One related article right now are hilarious.
This is CLASSIC Microsoft thinking they know better than their consumers. You can’t tell people what they do and do not like lol. It’s the same shit they got themselves into with Windows 8. Changing a whole bunch of crap seemingly for the hell of it and giving consumers tons of “features” that nobody ever asked for while often even removing things people already liked. They’re regressing imo. And this comes from an Xbox 360 owner and lifelong Windows user.

The way I see it Xbox used to compete more or less directly with Playstation for the core video game playing democraphic. The housewives and small children got Wii. Now Microsoft is trying to get into the broader entertainment for everyone gimmick to get a piece of that casual audience Wii pie at the cost of shunning their base of consumers, the actual game players. Now it seems like they’ll get neither. People who want to play real, quality video games will flock to PS4, and people who want to flail around in front of the TV with their kids will still probably get the less expensive Wii.

Microsoft makes okay products at best. Case and point Internet Explorer…

PS4 has been pre-ordered. Can’t wait for Killzone, Infamous, and Battlefield 4 this winter!

Also, why does anyone still argue with Harrypotter on here?

Ya I know a few people who feel that way as well. But I’m alsopretty sure that Xbox will change their game sharing policy relatively quickly, otherwise they don’t stand a chance against ps4.
Also did you see ps4’s little video demo on how to share game’s on ps4
step1, “here ya go” (has one guy hand another guy the game)
some really funny stuff
Just going off of the e3 reveal, Sony dumped all over M$. If M$ drops its retarded DRM policy and Kinect bundle - which would probably put the console right at $399, then I would be very interested in the xbox one. I actually think it had better exclusives - Titan Fall, Son of Rome, Halo 5 (which probably will blow without Bungie), and Dead Rising 3. Not to mention the exclusive DLC deals with Activision and EA.

I feel like Sony didn’t bring the heat with exclusive games, but they were definitely on point with their console - price and spec wise at least. I’m looking forward to seeing what Naughty Dog comes out with on the ps4, seeing as The Last of US appears to be a masterpiece.

Internet Explorer has been in the dirt for too long to even still be relevant now, my dad still thinks it’s great, which is insane because I know he’s at least smart enough to know better, maybe he’s just too stubborn to pull out of his bubble.

All three of those look great, Battlefield looks beautiful in particular.

Well if Harry had just stuck with Hermione in the first place and not slithered his way sneakily into his best friend’s sister’s bed, maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess!

Pretty much. What’s funny is that the xbox one is currently seeking to do what the ps3 promised at its launch, which was to become a central entertainment hub. That really hurt Sony’s sales and kind of allowed the xbox360 to reign supreme among gamers. I feel like Sony learned from its mistakes, but Microsoft got too cocky from its success.

Really, I feel the opposite. Titan Fall does look really good and I’m sure Halo 5 will be good (I’m not a huge fan, but they are good).

I still think all in all PS4 will have better exclusive (maybe not at launch, but by year 2). You’ve got Killzone, Infamous, Uncharted, God of War, Resistance, Little Big Planet, The last of us (which looks really fuckin good), and others. Plus all the big titles are on both like COD, Batttlefield, fallout, etc…

I’ve got both a 360 and PS3 and I can’t see a single reason to get a Xbox One.

I think its a safe guarantee that PS4 ends up with a significantly better library of exclusives, relatively quickly too. PS3 not only had more exclusives, but better exclusives than Xbox 360, and the 360 was a cash machine. Now that the PS4 is poised to blow Xbox One out of the water before the systems are even launched, you will see more and more developers and publishers migrate to that system.

I honestly didnt see any Xbox One exclusives that interested me outside of Dead Rising 3. Titanfall looked like CoD with mechs, im not a Halo fan, and Gran Turismo is better than Forza. Plus Drive Club is a cooler concept than Forza in my opinion, lets hope its executed well.
Killzone and Infamous alone looked better than anything Microsoft showed in my opinion.

Not only that, but then you have Mattrick telling people essentially to “deal with it?” (didnt someone get fired for that?) That if they dont like it, they can stick with 360? They are delusional if they think anyone is going to opt to stay with their 360 and forgo the next gen. The answer? Theyll get a PS4. How these guys cant see this is incredible to me.

I also liked how he used the analogy that if you dont have cell service, you dont buy a cell phone. No…Cell phones have never existed without cell service, it is the only necessary component of a cell phone. Video games have existed for decades without mandatory internet connections and its a massively popular industry. They’re trying to change the game and convince everyone that they are wrong for not agreeing.

Even if its not too late in the development cycle to eventually pull back on all the DRM bullshit and the mandatory kinect and used game fees, i think microsoft has taken their consumers for granted, proven their incredible arrogance and ignorance, and offended enough people that the Xbox one is destined to be a blip in the PS4’s rear view mirror no matter what.

First Windows 8, now this. Whats next?

Agreed.

I agree Xbox will take a huge hit. I bet they scramble and try to launch a Kinect free version for $399, but I doubt it happens soon enough. Hell the WiiU might even outsell Xbox One.

Also the Kinect is a gimmick right now and they are putting too much faith in it. Just like the damn Wii. I have a kinect I’ve used maybe 3 times. It’s just not “there” yet. One day virtual gaming, hands free, whatever you want to call it will be awesome, but it ain’t today.

Yes that’s the word I was looking for; “arrogance”. They get so freaking full of themselves and think people are just going to eat up all their stupid ideas.

The 360 comment is pretty insane. “Liek don’t buy our new product buy our old product!”

-So if I have kids and we go on vacation for 2 weeks, no Xbox One.
-If I live in the barracks and internet isn’t available (still the case in some places in USMC, no Xbox One.
-Live in rural America whose only cheap choice is dial up, no Xbox One.
-Like to play used games (Gamefly), no Xbox One.

Honestly I don’t think it will ever be awesome. You could probably put me in the “hardcore” gamer category if you like. None of us ever asked for fucking motion control or 3D. Getting sucked into a game and immersed/absorbed into it’s world is mental, not physical. The more extraneous movement I’m forced to preform, the more aware I become of what I’m doing and the less engaged I am with the game itself. The best controllers are ones where you are only using your hands to preform solid, responsive actions. There was never anything broken about the keyboard and mouse or the Gamecube controller. Ergonomic and easy to use so that 100% of your focus is on the game itself, not the controls. Big motion controlled movements are bad. Small, twitch responses made with the flick of a wrist or thumb are good. You stop even being aware of it and are fully immersed in the actual gameplay (you know the thing video games are supposed to be about rather than using technology just to prove that you can).

Now decades from now may be a different story. In the distant future where you can literally control electronic interfaces with your thoughts and any kind of movement or control scheme becomes irrelevant.

This is basically what I was getting at, like the thing in Vegas. I’ll see if I can find the article.

I 100% agree with the rest of your post.

Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of troops in every branch that are deployed and stationed over seas that wont have reliable internet access. I think companies like MS forget that even if there isnt a huge war going on, these guys still deploy all the time to places like Korea, Japan, Phillipines, Kenya, etc. You think in all these locations they are going to be solid on their internet connections?

Every military guy i know games. Many on Xbox 360.

Regarding the PS4, i think people are overlooking the awesome potential of the Vita.

So if im not mistaken Sony is claiming that with your PS4 hooked up to the internet, and your vita hooked up to the internet via wifi, you can stream your PS4 onto your vita, therefor getting a full PS4 experience on your handheld.

Think of the possibilities. I could be sitting at a car dealership getting my oil changed for an hour playing my PS4 via my Vita on their free Wifi. I could be at any hotel with Wifi on business and play my PS4 without having to bring it or hook it up. I could be at a friends house or an airport. I mean if this truly works that well its going to mean there are a lot less boring moments in my life, and i think this is the direction handheld gaming will inevitably go. Eventually you’ll be able to have ridiculously light and thin designs capable of next gen graphics and performance that can be taken anywhere.

“This is a big change, consumers don’t always love change, and there’s a lot of education we have to provide to make sure that people understand.”

Translation - Fuck you consumer, we know what’s best for you.

This shit cracks me up more and more. I have interent through Verizon, not fios mind you, it’s called HomeFusion and it’s basically like a a cell phone. I have 20g a month. One game would use up like 25% of a full months allowance. Then add updates and onlineplay, there goes all my internet.

So ya I’ll stick with disks, thanks.

I really hope this is disastrous enough for microsoft that they back out of console gaming completely after this. I would hate to see all their negative restrictions influence other companies. They’re making it pretty clear that they will try their best to force the industry in this direction.

Also, they talk about amazon being “on pace” to sell out of preorders. Well i think its pretty obvious that theres only so many to go around for day one and even Xbone will sell out of launch editions. The funny thing to me though is that the PS4 launch edition sold out in about 20 hours, Xbox One’s is still available. In fact, theyre not even offering the standard edition yet because they obviously have enough of the launch models still.

That right there is telling. Lets not forget Xbox One was available for preorder about 11 hours before PS4 was.

I’m sure you all heard about what happened immediately after that initial Xbox One reveal?

Wii U sales literally skyrocketed like 900%. I mean seriously…
