Devs/publishers make more from consoles because consoles are more popular, has nothing to do with piracy. Why sell a game for 30-40 ???????????????£ when you can do it 50-60? Those are the average price ranges for new games on console.

I laugh at people like you who think PC gamers for the most part want piss poor console ports, we dont and they know this through the sales. However some titles DO get snapped up because they can be ported to PC well, like BF3 and GTA.
Not gonna debate Japanese games lacking quality - I get different people have different tastes. Like I said, I don’t like JRPG’s, but I don’t feel the need to shit all over the people who do enjoy them. I like the bat shit crazy Japanese games personally - like the stuff Suda 51 and Platinum Games put out.

I never said PC gamers want shitty ports - but that’s what they get due to the (lack of) money they make compared to the console versions. You get the games you deserve, not the ones you want.

You know what I find funny though? Consoles still make more money than PC games, even with the used/2nd hand market. PC games have to price themselves lower due to the lack of re-sale/trade-in ability.

Console games can be re-sold, yet console games still outsell PC games as far as new copies go.
Um, I know this?

COnsole games are popular because they’re easy to use, transport and offer less hassle.

You are deemed “cool” by playing FIFA13/COD instead of Skyrim or counter strike but then again, I dont really take to social norms so thats probably why I hate consoles so much these days.
You have to be a huge nerd… Like stuffed in lockers type of shit. You think playing CoD grants you some sort of “cool” social status and thats why consoles are big? lol

No video game makes you “cool.” just like being a PC elitist doesnt make you “cool” and same goes consoles. Being a PC elitist is the videogame equivalent of being a hipster. Is that really the root of your elitism? it all makes sense now.
To call me a hipster almost made me fall off my chair laughing, a LOL almost turning into a ROFL.

I am far from a PC gaming hipster, or SWAG follower in gaming terms. PCs were never the IN thing, consoles were however. Sports simulators like FIFA/NFL come to mind.

I never said video games make you “cool”, however I see it in so many things these days from conversations in person, advertisements, internet forums and that bastion of self pity, Facebook.

I talked about getting Goldeneye years back in high school and I was looked at weirdly.

Thousands of men now talk about playing the next COD or Fifa and they get praise for it. I’m like, “so when did it become cool to be a gamer?”. The fact that you didnt see this makes me laugh even more.

A hipster? moi? 'avin a laugh m8?
I’m not calling you a hipster but I think you are missing the point on what a hipster is. Hipsters go against trends and aren’t considered part of the popular masses. A hipster wouldn’t want to play on a PS3 and play COD or FIFA because everybody does it and they want to be different.
Hipsters are a trend…penny dropped yet?

I’ve always been into PC games, popularity or money never came into it, I wanted good games.

FIFA is boring as I only follow football casually and COD is a terrible game. Consoles are a trend, plenty of them do have it and plenty will be buying the new consoles.

I’m not deep into this social bullshit but even I know these simple things.
This must be some popular trend that has been going on for around 30 years. I thought trends only last a few years…
Didnt realize consoles were just now the direction videogames were going.

Hipsters wear skinny jeans, have shit haircuts, wear stupid glasses, have stupid other clothing as well, especially shoes, listen to shit music, are skinny bitches, eat like a pussy, and are fucking delusional.

It’s not really a category I can place people into based on their video game usage.

You obviously dont share the same passionate disdain for the modern day hipster that i do.
To properly make fun of the hipster, you must first understand it.

You describe only physical characteristics of the stereotypical hipster, a generic personification of the term, but it is ultimately the essence of a hipster that defines a person as such.

I am confused about the new AC, the third one just came out, how is the 4th already coming out again in October?

Theyve been coming out in yearly installments for a while now. ACIII came out last october. Its surprising that they’d have a PS4 version ready in that time-span but theyve obviously been working on this for more than a year.

To be honest I don’t see it being very long until a complete dip in quality… they kind of turned it into the same thing as COD, milking the franchise and making updates of old versions instead of actual new games… Granted AC4 is on the PS4 so that alone means some changes but to be honest I would not be surprised if it is just borrowing some tried and tested mechanics of the old version and rush releasing the game before any actual quality work is done… People like Naughty dog with Uncharted or Hideo Kojima actually space time out between franchise releases and really work hard to bring in something entirely new… So I guess the main point is AAA production games are getting harder and harder to come by as of late.

Like their self-righteous smugness and holier-than-thou tastes in everything because of how non-mainstream it is?

We will see. So far i have yet to be disappointed by an AC game since ACII came out. 3 didnt quite live up to my expectations but was still a great game. I just have a hunch that ACIV will be better than III based on the enhanced graphics/physics, more charismatic protagonist and unique locales. The mechanics dont have to be that different for me to enjoy it. If i like it at least as much as III, ill be cool with it.

Whether they can keep that up if the yearly installment thing sticks, i dont know But we’ll find out.

Your hatred of the CoD franchise is very hipster-esque. Something tells me you wouldnt loathe it so if not for its immense popularity…

The whole hipster thing is obviously over your head.

I get it, you liked PC gaming BEFORE it was cool. I wonder how many hipsters said they drank PBR before drinking PBR became cool…LOL

You are checking off every trait on the hipster identification list. Keep it up sparky.
lmfao, again another fail.

I dont like COD because its not good and because of this, I am a hipster? You’re an idiot.

I played the early CODs on PC, they were semi-decent but the same-old same old? Sorry but I dont buy the same thing with new flashy things attached.

Maybe your brain is unable to process what I mean by hipster or maybe you Americans have it all wrong but here is the British take on of hipsters.

Dont like it? I dont care but calling me a hipster…biggest FAIL on these boards I have seen.

Someones awful touchy about being called a hipster…truth hurts bro.

So did anybody check out Microsoft and Sonys conferences at E3? I read the reviews on them and it sounds like Microsoft really fucked themselves in the ass on this one with their used game policy and needed to be logged onto the internet at least once every 24 hours. The PS4 will also come out at $100 cheaper at $399. Still not good enough for me to sell my PS3 and get a PS4 right away, but I would definitely consider one sometime down the road.

Thought this Sony commercial was funny.
therajraj wrote:
What’s the starting price? I’m guessing $999.

PS4’s launch price is $399, and the XBOX1 is going to be $499…and with PS4 you will still be able to share games, as well as the fact that your playstation plus will roll over into the PS4 generation (so if you already have ps plus, you will have it when you get a ps4)
either way, PS4 is shittin on the new xbox…can’t wait

Shitting on it indeed.

The only form of DRM the PS4 will employ is the exact same that the PS3 employs now. Basically, it really only applies to online multiplayer, is up to THIRD PARTY publishers to decide if they want it(first party will not use any) and would essentially come in the form of online passes like we have seen with recent Assassin’s Creed games. It doesnt have a negative effect on trade ins and it doesnt restrict you from loaning your game to whoever you want, whenever you want, as many times as you want.

Yesterday that MS dude who headed the reveal and press conference came out and said in an interview “We have a product for people without internet connections, its called Xbox 360.”

LOL

Then their VP basically said they arent worried about it, there are more conventions coming up such as TGS that will win people over.

So first they said “wait til the reveal, you’ll love it”

Then they said “wait til E3, you’ll love it then”

Now they are saying “No really, wait til like TGS or something, im sure you’ll come around”

They are really shooting themselves in the foot at every turn. The comments on IGN regarding pretty much any Xbox One related article right now are hilarious.

I don’t even know if Microsoft will keep themselves in the game market after this. I know multiple die-hard Xbox fans that have flipped 180 and aren’t even considering the Xbox One any more.
Big Kahuna wrote:

I have yet to talk to anyone outside of the internet that has expressed to me that they are favoring Xbox One over PS4. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if MS decided to get out of console gaming after this console generation as well. They are trying to steer things in the direction of having a media PC in your living room, but have offered none of the freedom PC’s offer.

The bottom line is some people prefer console gaming over PC gaming for a reason, and when you blur the line too much, its gonna turn people off. Especially when you start throwing gimmicky crap in there like all the kinect bullshit. Its neither a console, nor a media PC, its a hybrid of both that loses all the best benefits of either side. Microsoft has proven how incredibly out of touch they are with their market here. Sony has done the opposite and is sure to garner intense brand loyalty and trust after this. It would be incredible if the Xbox One recovers.

Ya I know a few people who feel that way as well. But I’m alsopretty sure that Xbox will change their game sharing policy relatively quickly, otherwise they don’t stand a chance against ps4.
Also did you see ps4’s little video demo on how to share game’s on ps4
step1, “here ya go” (has one guy hand another guy the game)
some really funny stuff

Oh they’d have to, but I’m not sure they can really climb out of the hole they’ve dug for themselves, and it is a long drop into that abyss.

I loved that PlayStation sharing video, it’s like a sarcastic curb stomp right on Microsoft’s Gaming branch’s silly money-grabbing head.

I agree entirely. I am also curious what is going to be the next type of gaming console (like how the Wii came out after the 360 and ps3) I would love to see them bring back an N64 style game controller

Yeah, it amazes me that nobody with authority in that division saw this coming sooner, surely they could have seen the criticisms of something like SimCity’s always online and put two and two together.

Oh man, the Kinect, the DRM and game restrictions, the online activation policy, there’s absolutely no way they put any real thought into the happiness of the consumer market with this.

With Sony releasing upwards of what I believe has so far been fifty games for the next gen consoles, it looks like they’ll be smooth sailing for the next couple of years at least, I wonder what the graphical capabilities will be a few years down the road if they’re already looking this amazing now.
