Playstation 4 Announced

Devs/publishers make more from consoles because consoles are more popular, has nothing to do with piracy. Why sell a game for 30-40 ?£ when you can do it 50-60? Those are the average price ranges for new games on console.

I laugh at people like you who think PC gamers for the most part want piss poor console ports, we dont and they know this through the sales. However some titles DO get snapped up because they can be ported to PC well, like BF3 and GTA.
Not gonna debate Japanese games lacking quality - I get different people have different tastes. Like I said, I don’t like JRPG’s, but I don’t feel the need to shit all over the people who do enjoy them. I like the bat shit crazy Japanese games personally - like the stuff Suda 51 and Platinum Games put out.

I never said PC gamers want shitty ports - but that’s what they get due to the (lack of) money they make compared to the console versions. You get the games you deserve, not the ones you want.

You know what I find funny though? Consoles still make more money than PC games, even with the used/2nd hand market. PC games have to price themselves lower due to the lack of re-sale/trade-in ability.

Console games can be re-sold, yet console games still outsell PC games as far as new copies go.

Um, I know this?

COnsole games are popular because they’re easy to use, transport and offer less hassle.

You are deemed “cool” by playing FIFA13/COD instead of Skyrim or counter strike but then again, I dont really take to social norms so thats probably why I hate consoles so much these days.

You have to be a huge nerd… Like stuffed in lockers type of shit. You think playing CoD grants you some sort of “cool” social status and thats why consoles are big? lol

No video game makes you “cool.” just like being a PC elitist doesnt make you “cool” and same goes consoles. Being a PC elitist is the videogame equivalent of being a hipster. Is that really the root of your elitism? it all makes sense now.

It most definitely does come down to personal preference. I love JRPG’s like the FF series. I dont really like valkyria chronicles, didnt even try eternal sonata. But i cant deny that in the case of those games, it is my personal preference that dictates my like or dislike of them, because it is virtual fact that they are “good” games.

I don’t really like FPS’, I don’t really play online games, and sports games are boring (especially soccer - I’d rather play the foosball game over FIFA).

And yes, Skyrim is good, however, I prefer Fallout universe (even the shitty PS3 versions) over the The Elder Scrolls world.

I get it though, you’re a hipster PC gamer, it’s cool to hate on consoles since they are popular.

BTW PS3 players - I highly recommend The Unfinished Swan - excellent game. Also, I just got my Vita and man is this thing nice.

Im gonna wait til the PS4 comes out to get the vita. Figure at that point it will be more easily justified with all the added features and usage.

I loved Skyrim, but i also agree that the Fallout games are better. Loved Fallout 3, LOVED New Vegas…i really hope we get some info on a Fallout 4 soon, next gen would be amazing.

In more related news, the next Assassins creed is expected out mid october, and has been officially acknowledged by ubisoft as Assassins Creed: IV Black Flag. New protagonist and its about pirates and shit.

The best news though, there was a web page that was quickly taken down that stated it would be available for next gen consoles. The wording was kind of weird, but it almost sounded like it would be available at release for next gen, which would imply that the PS4 could be out as early as october.

Official reveal is monday. Either way im psyched. Love the assassins creed series.
I’m not sure how I feel about the setting of the new AC game. I love the series too, and I was a HUGE fan of the second one. But pulling the storyline backwards into Caribbean pirating seems a little strange. I don’t know how I’d feel about the game taking place at sea again, like AC3’s Naval missions. Fun while they lasted, but spending entire missions out there regularly and being obligated to do so might get a little boring, provided they don’t revamp the way sea-faring battles happen, to be more fun.

Seems like it would kind of leave out any really great architecture too, a small Caribbean port might not have the scale and planning to really make use of AC’s early tall structures ,chase scenes and the incredible hay-dives they had.

Feels to me like they’re dragging on Desmond’s story too, to me they jumped the shark with AC3 concerning intermediary plot points, wish they’d just have taken the fourth one and made it into the final climactic title focusing around Desmond and his chronologically forwarded decisions in the “present” leading up the destruction or saving of the Human race.

I hold a couple of scepticisms about it, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it regardless, but I kind of wish they’d stop milking it dry and deal with the story before the revelations of the last title get old and bore-some.
I hear ya on the concerns. Im skeptical about some aspects as well, but all-in-all i know ill enjoy it. I thought ACIII was the worst (least good?) entry in the series other than the first one but i still loved it. The entire Ezio trilogy is fantastic in my opinion, revelations included, but II is still the best.

Despite the concerns there are a few reasons why i think the latest entry will be at least as good, if not better than III and why im interested. First, Desmond is dead, so im really curious to see who is in the animus this time around, and why. Also, a next gen graphics assassins creed will look incredible. As far as the whole pirating thing, i have to think that there will be a greater emphasis on naval battles/travel, but knowing this im SURE ubisoft is implementing ways to make things more interesting/exciting, add additional elements and in general just make it a more enjoyable experience. They have to know you couldnt build a whole game around the naval battles from III alone.

Another thing is im sure there will be substantial cities likely on par with ACIII on some Caribbean islands such as jamaica or haiti. Wont be the giant cities from Italy but still good enough for some nice free-running. Another thing to consider is that roaming the wilderness on caribbean islands will probably be way cooler than roaming the forests in ACIII.

Either way, cant wait til the official unveiling monday. Should answer a lot of these questions.
Premiere Trailer just showed up, I like those graphical displays. I’m still unsure how innovative they could really be, especially receding in time like this. But the protagonist looks pretty cool model-wise, reminds me of Ezio quite a bit. Time will tell.

Son of a bitch everywhere i look the trailer has been pulled.

From what i read though it seems its been confirmed to release for both current and next gen consoles oct 29th? This is awesome news, as i presume that means the PS4 will be out on or before that date.

Yeah, luckily caught it before it was blocked. Have you been able to see it at all before the copyrights get at it or have you missed the window on all of them?

Hopefully, they’ve had a long time to work on the project, I’m hoping it’s been ongoing for a long time and there have miraculously been no leaks, I would hate for it to be rushed at this point just for the sake of competition.

I havent been able to find a single site that has a video that isnt blcoked/taken down.

Id have to think this has been years in the making, i find it hard to believe they could have cranked out a next-gen game in 1 years time. Especially on the scale of Assassin’s creed

Always surprises me how locked in they can keep something like this, especially with all the people that must be working around it.

Anyway, the trailer doesn’t reveal too much, it looks like there’s some kind of crazy double flintlock pistol mechanic, and a rapier-esque sword made an appearance. Edward Kenway is the protagonist, his main targets look like pirate captains (of course), and his outfit from the trailer isn’t too spectacular, it actually looks more like the original AC costume more than anything else. And the narration of the trailer looks like it’s done by Blackbeard, who would make a great antagonist.

From what I remember anyway, I didn’t analyse it too much at the time because I thought it would get out before the block, so I may be a little wrong, but those are the main aspects I got from it.

To call me a hipster almost made me fall off my chair laughing, a LOL almost turning into a ROFL.

I am far from a PC gaming hipster, or SWAG follower in gaming terms. PCs were never the IN thing, consoles were however. Sports simulators like FIFA/NFL come to mind.

I never said video games make you “cool”, however I see it in so many things these days from conversations in person, advertisements, internet forums and that bastion of self pity, Facebook.

I talked about getting Goldeneye years back in high school and I was looked at weirdly.

Thousands of men now talk about playing the next COD or Fifa and they get praise for it. I’m like, “so when did it become cool to be a gamer?”. The fact that you didnt see this makes me laugh even more.

Your dig at facebook only solidifies the view that you’re a hipster.

Again, i have never seen anyone praised for talking about CoD. Or any video game. You need to get out of the basement more.

Ive been at bars and shit and seen tables of guys sitting around talking about their awesome CoD kills from earlier that day. I never thought “damn thats the table we should be sitting at.”

I’m not calling you a hipster but I think you are missing the point on what a hipster is. Hipsters go against trends and aren’t considered part of the popular masses. A hipster wouldn’t want to play on a PS3 and play COD or FIFA because everybody does it and they want to be different.

A hipster? moi? 'avin a laugh m8?

I’m not calling you a hipster but I think you are missing the point on what a hipster is. Hipsters go against trends and aren’t considered part of the popular masses. A hipster wouldn’t want to play on a PS3 and play COD or FIFA because everybody does it and they want to be different.
paradoxically they create another culture of their own and follow it just the same lol,

here is another trailer featuring the new protagonist.

Tis the hilarious irony of hipsters

Devs/publishers make more from consoles because consoles are more popular, has nothing to do with piracy. Why sell a game for 30-40 ???????????£ when you can do it 50-60?

You need to look up what hipster is, I’ll be busy LOL’ing back here waiting for the penny to drop.

Stupid people on T-Nation, its like a massive turd attracting the flies like yourself.

Hipsters are a trend…penny dropped yet?

I’ve always been into PC games, popularity or money never came into it, I wanted good games.

FIFA is boring as I only follow football casually and COD is a terrible game. Consoles are a trend, plenty of them do have it and plenty will be buying the new consoles.

I’m not deep into this social bullshit but even I know these simple things.

Your hatred of the CoD franchise is very hipster-esque. Something tells me you wouldnt loathe it so if not for its immense popularity…

The whole hipster thing is obviously over your head.

I get it, you liked PC gaming BEFORE it was cool. I wonder how many hipsters said they drank PBR before drinking PBR became cool…LOL

You are checking off every trait on the hipster identification list. Keep it up sparky.

This must be some popular trend that has been going on for around 30 years. I thought trends only last a few years…
