And this ignores any PS2 HD re-makes such as ICO and Shadow of the Colossus or Okami HD, and any non-retail games only available as downloads from say PSN such as Journey or Scot Pilgrim Vs. the World the game. And I’m not even a JRPG fan, so I don’t have any of those in my list.
I’ll give you Journey actually. I forgot about that one. I actually was pissed that I couldn’t get that on PC.

What games did I miss out on exactly? I guess fans of Halo and God of War will need a console, but I really don’t see a huge pile of amazing games I’m wishing I could play on PC that aren’t already there. If Japan wants to release a bunch of fucking anime garbage for PS4 only, they can be my guest.
lets not forget to mention almost every final fantasy game since playstation with only a couple exceptions. That and almost every other great JRPG. Killzone series. Uncharted alone is worth owning a PS3. Gran Turismo 5. Demon’s Souls. Heavy Rain. All the great PSN games.

Unless you are solely an RTS, MMO, other various online games (League of Legends, Diablo III) type of guy, there is a lot more appeal and broader pallette of games on consoles. Specifically playstation consoles.

Also, there’s a reason developers/publishers focus on consoles - they sell more on them and make more from them!

I laugh at the PC gamers who whine that game XYZ is another shitty console port, so they pirate it instead of buying it. Then wonder why they keep getting shitty ports.
Japanese games are terrible, only a select few make it voer here. lmfao…

Devs/publishers make more from consoles because consoles are more popular, has nothing to do with piracy. Why sell a game for 30-40 £ when you can do it 50-60? Those are the average price ranges for new games on console.

I laugh at people like you who think PC gamers for the most part want piss poor console ports, we dont and they know this through the sales. However some titles DO get snapped up because they can be ported to PC well, like BF3 and GTA.

Also, heres a youtube video showing how you can make a steambox, which runs any game at a budget of £300.

There are plenty of great japanese games. You wouldnt know because you dont get any of them on PC.

And the point of piracy is completely valid. Its not the sole reason that consoles are more profitable obviously, but its undeniably truthful.

Somehow you all still dont acknowledge the fact that there are a ton of great games that are exclusive to consoles; one of, if not possibly the biggest reason to own a console.

As far as the steam box goes, none of these games are particularly intensive. The best looking one is BF3 which was being played on low settings.

I also call BS that youll be able to build it for that price.

Either way, you still havent proved to me that you can build a PC capable of outputting graphics on par with what the PS4 will be capable of for the same price. I have never seen a PC build that can run the original crysis (which is the best looking of the series) at maxed out settings for under 1000. I dont even know if ive ever seen a build thats close to a thousand that can do that. And crysis is probably the most accurate benchmark for next gen available right now.

Like what!?!?

Super smash bros? I have an N64 so I’m all set.

I fucking HATE anime.

Or I can drive to Gamestop or WalMart and buy a PS4 drive home hook up and play.

The entire final fantasy series is universally acclaimed and one of the most respected video game series of all time. Not to mention almost anything else square has ever done.

The entire Zelda series.

Konami is japanese, so the metal gear solid series. Anything by capcom, resident evil, devil may cry. Disgaea 3 and 4, Valkyria Chronicles, Eternal Sonata…those are just the first ones that come to mind. I havent played all of these, but they are universally praised.

At this point im convinced you’re just playing ignorant.

I find Final Fantasy games to be fucking terrible with the exception of the first one, which is nothing like FF games nowadays. Final Fantasy sucks hard.

I have beaten every Zelda game ever. Ocarina of Time changed my life as a child lol. So for nostalgia’s sake you got me there.

Fuck Konami, fuck metal gear solid, fuck Capcom, fuck Resident Evil, Devil May Cry is okay I guess, fuck Disgaea, fuck Valkyria Chronicles, fuck Eternal Sonata.

They may be universally praised by anime loving cumquats, but they’re not praised by me.

In the interest of not being a complete asshat though, I will concede that IF you care about those kind of games, then consoles are the only way to go for you. If you love all the anime Japan stuff, then yeah, you won’t find that on a PC.

Lol, no I run a business, have over 30 people working for me, have a wife that I spend time with, work out 5 days a week.

So no, my game time is limited and my time to get something to play is limited.

Plus if shit breaks I send it in and then wait for it to come back, I dont have time to do it myself. I have a yard service, pool service and BMW service on my car.

You asked what good Japanese games there are, i listed some.

Plenty of non-japanese games have been listed as great console exclusives as well.

Either way you’re obviously biased against anything not PC so the PS4 will not appeal to you. I think theres a pretty massive, undeniable argument thats been made for why consoles are still relevant/more popular than PC gaming though. Yeah consoles get more games because its more profitable, but you have to look at WHY theyre more profitable.

Well there’s no arguing with that. People came up with the term “PC elitist” for a reason lol.

Respect.

In more related news, the next Assassins creed is expected out mid october, and has been officially acknowledged by ubisoft as Assassins Creed: IV Black Flag. New protagonist and its about pirates and shit.

The best news though, there was a web page that was quickly taken down that stated it would be available for next gen consoles. The wording was kind of weird, but it almost sounded like it would be available at release for next gen, which would imply that the PS4 could be out as early as october.

Official reveal is monday. Either way im psyched. Love the assassins creed series.

I think consoles have done a great job in molding the gaming community in terms of graphics. Think about it, when a game developer creates a game for the PC, they have to limit themselves due to the fact that not everyone has top of the line graphics, low end processors, available ram, and so on. With consoles, that issue is non existent, they are given this box and they are made to push it to the limit while still delivering great graphics and gameplay. No worries about it not running on some machines. Everyone can enjoy the same game without tweaking graphics or running into any issues that would make the game unplayable on some PC’s.

I’m not sure how I feel about the setting of the new AC game. I love the series too, and I was a HUGE fan of the second one. But pulling the storyline backwards into Caribbean pirating seems a little strange. I don’t know how I’d feel about the game taking place at sea again, like AC3’s Naval missions. Fun while they lasted, but spending entire missions out there regularly and being obligated to do so might get a little boring, provided they don’t revamp the way sea-faring battles happen, to be more fun.

Seems like it would kind of leave out any really great architecture too, a small Caribbean port might not have the scale and planning to really make use of AC’s early tall structures ,chase scenes and the incredible hay-dives they had.

Feels to me like they’re dragging on Desmond’s story too, to me they jumped the shark with AC3 concerning intermediary plot points, wish they’d just have taken the fourth one and made it into the final climactic title focusing around Desmond and his chronologically forwarded decisions in the “present” leading up the destruction or saving of the Human race.

I hold a couple of scepticisms about it, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it regardless, but I kind of wish they’d stop milking it dry and deal with the story before the revelations of the last title get old and bore-some.

I hear ya on the concerns. Im skeptical about some aspects as well, but all-in-all i know ill enjoy it. I thought ACIII was the worst (least good?) entry in the series other than the first one but i still loved it. The entire Ezio trilogy is fantastic in my opinion, revelations included, but II is still the best.

Despite the concerns there are a few reasons why i think the latest entry will be at least as good, if not better than III and why im interested. First, Desmond is dead, so im really curious to see who is in the animus this time around, and why. Also, a next gen graphics assassins creed will look incredible. As far as the whole pirating thing, i have to think that there will be a greater emphasis on naval battles/travel, but knowing this im SURE ubisoft is implementing ways to make things more interesting/exciting, add additional elements and in general just make it a more enjoyable experience. They have to know you couldnt build a whole game around the naval battles from III alone.

Another thing is im sure there will be substantial cities likely on par with ACIII on some Caribbean islands such as jamaica or haiti. Wont be the giant cities from Italy but still good enough for some nice free-running. Another thing to consider is that roaming the wilderness on caribbean islands will probably be way cooler than roaming the forests in ACIII.

Either way, cant wait til the official unveiling monday. Should answer a lot of these questions.
