I do not think anyone cares about what you think about console or PC gaming. The fact that you come in here insulting people for no reason based on their opinion is not needed. I find it hilarious you called the people in this thread “basement-dwelling hipsters,” get a fucking life you tool.
I love how a little basement dwelling hipster has appointed himself the voice of tnation.
I have quite a life, thank you very much. Getting mommy’s boy hipsters like you to melt down over what I’ve said about something as trivial as a damned video gaming console is just fun.
Maybe loosen up and stop trying to be such an e-tough guy. It’s just the internet, kiddo.

Stop perpetuating stupid PC gamer stereotypes please.
New consoles based on x86 means a leap forward for PC games too, so everyone wins and there’s nothing to whine about. Both of them will support DX11 and play at a resolution that less than 5% of steam users exceed. It gets a lot easier to make multi-platform games and even games ported from consoles whould have DX11 support, so it’s good news for everyone.
Don’t count out the Xbox one completely yet. They still have more than five years to lower the price, change their DRM policy and backpedal on “calling home” every day. They won’t sit idly by while people boycott them. Just because there’s no reason to buy it over the PS4 now doesn’t mean there will never be.

Great points. Both in regards to PC gaming and Xbox One.
By my estimation the Xbox One will not be a “failure” in terms of M$ losing a bunch of money on it, but i dont think it will do well enough to stop M$ from eventually giving into their investors who want them to sell off the videogame division.

Overheard some dudes talking about computer games at the gym a couple of months ago. I kind of lost it and annihilated them with a 15lb barbell. They’re still trying to clean up all the splatter stains.
I talk about computer games at the gym all the time with my 6’6" 300lb training partner :)
One swing of the barbell and both of you are finished.
Gaming seems like a waste of time honestly. You pick up the controller, turn on the damn thing and then essentially burn 2, 3 or how ever many hours of your free time. Is it worth it? Why? Or is it just addicting and you can’t stop even though you know you’d be better off if you did?
Honestly what do you care what other people do with their free time? Not to talk shit, but this thread is obviously about video games yet you come in here to bash them. I could care less about what you do with your free time, so why did you care about what I do with mine?
I don’t care, when did I say I did? I transitioned from a comical post to a serious question trying to understand the psyche of gamers. I don’t think I said anything that is actually offensive, especially given the environment I thought I was in (read: T-Nation, emphasis on the T). Seems to me some on here are a little too insecure. At least the pig freely admits he’s a nerd.
No one here is insecure. When you first start off your post with gaming seems like such a waste of time, people aren’t going to think of your questions as something serious. Someone else already answered your question, so I hope that clarifies it.

Nice regurgitation.
The 5% of Steam users is straight out of the talking points memo - and it is completely false. There is no way to ascertain the resolution of any steam user.
But hey - if it makes you feel better about paying $400-plus for 5th gen technology, knock yourself out, kiddo.

Strawman? I’m pretty sure that the talk of lowering XB1 prices over the next five years was to suggest that he does not intend on paying out the nose for 5th gen technology, kiddo…
So you are saying that your 1500 dollar PC gaming rig is superior to a 400 dollar console. Thats like telling someone your ferrari is better than their ZR1 just because you paid a shit ton more for it.
What a douche. You were projecting your love of cheapness onto lovers of REAL technology, now you want to use $400 as some sort of breakover point. My GPU cost more than your POS4, and the performance difference is worth every penny.

LOL, dude you can twist these arguments whichever way you need to to boost your own self-esteem. You put way too much pride in your videogaming habits and you assume much.
Again, its ASTOUNDING how ignorant you come across. But its not that atypical with your type.

STEAMbox is a mini-PC touted for the same range as PS4.
You can build a small PC box for the price of a PS4, it has been done by enough but that isn’t a reason to be PC elitist.
When it comes to a PC, I want more bang for my buck because you can get more bang for your buck. If you’re a strategy fan there are many games that take full advantage of the power from PCs which make it impossible for a console.
If you want to play with friends a console is easy but it is also just as easy with a PC. Online gaming was with PCs before consoles and LAN parties were there before console parties were even heard of.
I am a PC elitist but I do not concern myself with consoles. However I do have issues with games like Battlefield being catered to the hardware of subpar consoles. 64 players? This game is going to be around till 2015 and its still 64 players? BITCH PLEASE!
The only reason no other game studio has designed a game to beat BF is because EA has bought every one up.

What are you talking about? I got it straight from steam, and while it’s not scientific in any way, it beats most statistics on the subject. Click resolution. Steam Hardware & Software Survey
My main gripe with PS3/360 has been the resolution in most games since I sit close to the screen and notice the difference. With the next gen they’ve fixed that and few are spoiled with higher resolutions than that.
And your generation classification is just weird, it’s pointless to begin with and apparently this next generation is considered the 8th?
The hardware isn’t monstruous by any means, but Jaguar cores with somewhat modern integrated graphics should mean a solid leap forward. If it’s not for you, don’t buy it, no one is forcing you. I don’t see the problem. Most games have been held back by old console hardware, so it’s a win for everyone but IBM I guess. I’m a PC gamer and I’m thrilled to see some new progress. I’m not going to buy a new console, but that’s no reason to badmouth them and pick fights with fellow gamers and lifters on here. Stefan128 and I built our PCs from scratch, but you don’t see us whining about progress on the console side.

I thought Steambox was supposed to be like a grand when it finally comes out?
And if there is a guy on the internet who has built a $400 PC that is capable of doing what the PS4 will be capable of doing, i would really like to see it.
Obviously PC has an edge when it comes to graphics, and obviously there are certain genres that just work better on PC, such as RTS.
PC’s have their pros and cons just as consoles do. People shouldnt let their personal preferences turn into blind ignorance though.

Never saw that. Thanks.
Also, Xbox One launch editions still not sold out.
Audio, I bought The Witcher Two, shit is very cool, especially the sword fighting. I just finished the tutorial and I only killed one guy. I rarely play with a mouse and keyboard so I really need to get used to this. Haha, does the game have a steeper than normal learning curve?

There is a steep learning/difficulty curve in the beginning but it eases up as you get farther into the story. After the first half dozen hours or so i dont recall dying very often at all.
Glad you’re liking it already, it is one of those games that keeps getting better and better the further you get into its story. If you’ve got a solid gaming rig it is also one of the best looking games out.
Its been a while since ive played that, now im gonna make sure i put it on my to-do list, especially considering at about half-way through the game you are forced to make a major decision that drastically changes the latter half of your play through, and i never explored the second option.

Alright, thanks! It is very different from the games I usually play. One issue I have is trying to remember all the controls for weapons slots, menus, etc. I tried looking for the a way to set the controls but couldn’t find it.
It is a lot to take in at the beginning but I should not have a problem adjusting.
