Playstation 4 Announced

So you are saying that your 1500 dollar PC gaming rig is superior to a 400 dollar console. Thats like telling someone your ferrari is better than their ZR1 just because you paid a shit ton more for it.
By any metric you can possibly use. And - I hate to be the bearer of truth - it’s not even that close.
For 400 dollars, there is not going to be any better gaming and entertainment option than the PS4.
What a douche. You were projecting your love of cheapness onto lovers of REAL technology, now you want to use $400 as some sort of breakover point. My GPU cost more than your POS4, and the performance difference is worth every penny.
And for most people, it is far more convenient to have a console hooked up to a huge plasma than a PC. I swear you PC elitists must feign ignorance to help justify your console bashing.
There are “most people”, and then there are the elitists. What “most people” want versus what elitists deserve is just a fact of life. Don’t hate me because I refuse to settle for what is convenient for the sheeple.

LOL, dude you can twist these arguments whichever way you need to to boost your own self-esteem. You put way too much pride in your videogaming habits and you assume much.

Again, its ASTOUNDING how ignorant you come across. But its not that atypical with your type.

You dont sound like you have much else to measure your self-worth by so im cool with not rebutting those comments.

Overheard some dudes talking about computer games at the gym a couple of months ago. I kind of lost it and annihilated them with a 15lb barbell. They’re still trying to clean up all the splatter stains.
Might wanna reread the thread title you’ve stumbled into bud…

I talk about computer games at the gym all the time with my 6’6" 300lb training partner :)
One swing of the barbell and both of you are finished.

Gaming seems like a waste of time honestly. You pick up the controller, turn on the damn thing and then essentially burn 2, 3 or how ever many hours of your free time. Is it worth it? Why? Or is it just addicting and you can’t stop even though you know you’d be better off if you did?

Maybe stop making internet posts on judgments of how others should spend their free time and instead worry about lifting as well? Or are you addicted to posting unnecessary and augmentative comments in threads on the internet that are discussing things you have no interest in? Are you so addicted to posting on the internet that you can’t stop, even though you know you’d be better off if you did?

(Sorry for feeding the troll).

In other news:

Not an unbiased site, but still kind of funny.

Honestly what do you care what other people do with their free time? Not to talk shit, but this thread is obviously about video games yet you come in here to bash them. I could care less about what you do with your free time, so why did you care about what I do with mine?

LOL @ you LOLing me.

If you POS fanfags would could produce any fact at all proving the superiority of Sony’s system over any piece of PC tech in the last 5 years - maybe you deserve a place at the gaming table.

The sad reality is that you can’t. Which is why you are reduced to calling those of us who know tech from a hairy mole ignorant.

The facts are the facts, sister. Even on my most ignorant day, I am obviously more capable of recognizing facts than you are.

What does that say about you. And I certainly hope the rest of the POS4 fanfag crowd have a better grasp of factual evidence than you do.

But please - continue to further degrade your position with baseless name calling.

I don’t care, when did I say I did? I transitioned from a comical post to a serious question trying to understand the psyche of gamers. I don’t think I said anything that is actually offensive, especially given the environment I thought I was in (read: T-Nation, emphasis on the T). Seems to me some on here are a little too insecure. At least the pig freely admits he’s a nerd.

People game to have fun, maybe compete with buddies on sports games etc. Why do you lift? That’s a waste of time. You could be reading books, gaining knowledge etc. I understand you asked a serious question but people are going to give you a wide range of answers. I have played videos games since I was like 10, maybe earlier, they’re awesome. You can immerse yourself in a story or a different world like Halo or Metal Gear Solid. It is a form of entertainment. You can even make money by playing video games.

Edit: Also, the Pig is a tool bag. Please stop with your ridiculous posts. People have preferences with gaming, consoles appeal to more people. No one gives a fuck about how awesome you or your PC is.

Thank you for the reply. This is exactly the kind of post I envisaged when I asked my question.

You’ve made it clear, and you’re right about it being just another form of entertainment. When I look at gaming as entertainment in replacement of other popular forms of entertainment like TV and whatever the fuck you can do on smartphones now, I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I think I just have this (incorrect) perception that anyone who is passionate enough to care about the console war between Microsoft and Sony is devoting a hell of a lot of time to gaming. I guess it’s more of a cultural thing than an actual unnecessary nerd debate.

I’ll also add that my dad has this thing against gaming that’s kind rubbed off on me. I couldn’t even play Tetris without him calling me out.

I do not care for the console war either, I have owned both a PS3, Xbox 360, and I have a gaming PC. The thing with this upcoming generation is how Microsoft is completely fucking over the customer and being greedy. People are mad at the company so obviously they are going to praise its rival. I will be getting a PS4 and the Xbox One can collect dusts on shelves around the country, it deserves too.

I do not know how old you are but if you have some spare money or whatever, you should give this generation or the next a try. There are lots of great games coming out in the future months. I know you have heard of Grand Theft Auto, who hasn’t. A new one comes out in September, 5 years after the last one I believe. That would be a cool game to get started on. Who cares what people say or your dad about gaming. People will call you a meat head for lifting. Anyway, just thought I would offer some insight.

I am become death destroyer of threads.

PC’s are cool, Consoles are cool too, all that really matters is being able to play the video game.

Video games entertain me in much the same vein as films do, especially now that graphics have improved and we’re drawing more towards cinematic influences and immersion to our gaming (Heavy Rain/Metal Gear Solid 4 in particular). I like to be faced with a story and situation and ponder the philosophy and morals of what I’ve seen. Films are my numero uno for that, but games are falling not too far behind.

People should be devoting their times to one particular thing and argue it passionately with others, regardless of what that thing is, because that’s how we create experts in a given field. If there weren’t a few people out there willing to spend their days learning, playing, creating all things video game related then we’d have not come close to the technological standing that we’re currently sitting in with these next gen consoles about to release. I learn weightlifting “rules”, tips and advice from those that have devoted themselves to barbell (+bodybuilding, kind of) sports, I learn films from critics and directors that have spent decades building their vision and their critical eye, and I learn all the other things that I learn from people that have spent just as much time completely devoted to that one thing. Not to say that everybody that spends enough time with games without some kind of strong innate passion will become a respectable authority on them, but if some do, then that’s good enough.

You’re still comparing apples and oranges, how am i supposed to make you think an apple is as good as an orange? This is a facile argument.

I concede defeat, you are the true gamer. Its unfortunate that i cant compete for the position but when some of us have real lives and responsibilities we have to prioritize and take whatever gaming time we can get, rather than dedicate all of our time to proving how tech-superior we are.

At the end of the day im the one who gets to enjoy the best of both worlds. I have my consoles, i have my top of the line gaming rig. I see the benefits of both and ill continue to enjoy them for many years. You just stay hunched over with your eyes glued to the computer screen my friend.

This. Its a very cultural thing. I grew up with Sony products in my home, from the original playstation. I love videogaming as i believe many of the best games can provide an experience that rivals any book or movie.

For me its definitely a cultural thing and something i get excited for but you would be wrong to assume i am a hardcore gamer in anything other than my interest level. The fact is, i work 45-50 hours a week, lift weights 5 days a week, have 2 dogs, am in a very serious relationship, have friends, groceries that need to be bought, food that needs to be prepared, etc…

Im lucky if i can sit down for more than a few hours a week to play some games. This is the thing that DrunkPig, lord of PC tech and gaming wizardry, doesnt seem to understand.

LOL. I posted to irritate the console fanboys, and I succeeded. If my posts achieved their intended purpose, how ridiculous were they, really?

I never said my PC was awesome. I said PC gaming was superior to console gaming. I own 2 360’s a PS3, and a wii - The PS3 and the 360 are decent. I have hundreds of hours of gaming time invested with all of them. None of them compare to the speed or graphics of even a mediocre PC.

I just think it’s funny to watch a bunch of basement-dwelling hipsters cream their pants over a new console that is nothing more than revamped 4th gen technology.

LMAO You think my posts are ridiculous?

SO given the opportunity to prove me wrong with facts you back out and opt to feign ignorance. Maybe you’re not faking.

I own every console on the market. Your ignorance of PC gaming does not make comparing PC to consoles apples to oranges. It means you are too stupid to understand the subject matter - which is your problem, not mine.

Are you being serious? When you’ve been married for 22 years, have 2 kids in college, own two businesses, train or cardio 6 days a week, train 2 other people 4 days a week, and take multiple international vacations per year, then maybe we’ll talk about your fucking responsibilities. But to be accurate - I never claimed to be tech-superior. I said the POS4 sucks compared to any half-decent PC.
At the end of the day im the one who gets to enjoy the best of both worlds. I have my consoles, i have my top of the line gaming rig. I see the benefits of both and ill continue to enjoy them for many years. You just stay hunched over with your eyes glued to the computer screen my friend.
I guess you missed the part where I said my monitor was a 70" HDTV. No hunching required. In fact quite the opposite. I game from my recliner - whether it is gaming on the PC, the 360, or the PS3 - and I do so with sound blasting from my Bose surround sound system.

Just because PC is superior to console by every possible metric doesn’t mean it’s the only way I game.

I love how a little basement dwelling hipster has appointed himself the voice of tnation.

I have quite a life, thank you very much. Getting mommy’s boy hipsters like you to melt down over what I’ve said about something as trivial as a damned video gaming console is just fun.

Somehow i doubt this.

When someone posts with an air of superiority based on the fact that their PC can produce better graphics than a console, they have little to actually feel superior about. Thats why its called “putting on airs” my friend.

I get it bro, you have the biggest monitor, mounds of riches, are an international man of mystery and on top of that, the #1 WoW player in the world. You win the internet. Your dick measuring knows no bounds.

This definition of PC Elitist seems to sum things up quite nicely;

A term for the PC gamers who think that they are better than console gamers because they play on a PC.

Sure, your PC may have better graphics, and cool mods for your games, so why are you spending so much time bashing consoles, if your precious PC is such a godsend?

"Could it be because the PC is constantly getting shafted by gaming companies by either not releasing content for PC, or releasing content that is better on console? Could it be because the PC is irrelevant compared to the console industry? Could it be because building a gaming rig is so much more expensive than just buying an equally worthy console? Could it be because most PC elitists are sweaty neckbeards that are butthurt because of all of the above?

I think so."
