Placed 3rd at a Lifting Meet this Weekend

Not because i did that well, i actually sucked kind of bad. My technique was all off and i wasn’t even able to hit my traing maxes much less even attemp a PR.

I got overtrained i think but i am new to oly lifting and my coach and i are still learning what i can handle. Fortunatly for me the first guy bombed out his snatch and it was kind of catching for everyone else.

Funny thing was when we got there my coach looked at all the competitiors and laughed and said everyone is compeating for 3rd here. It was a bunch of us local chumps and a pair of guys that are almost at national level.

The first place guy beat my total by about 80kg’s. All in good fun though. I didn’t expect to place after only doing it 6 months. LOL but considering how bad i got beat it is kind of a consolation prize!

I’d rather place 3rd then 1st out of one, like in some competitions. Woohoo! 1st in SubJunior-Men’s-age-18.2-to-18.4-Collegiate-Fire/Police-88.2334kg class!

What did you lift?

Congrats anyway.

Competin’ for trophies!!! Yeah, baby!!!

Hey man, that’s good stuff. No doubt you’ll be posting some PRs in your next competition. Good luck

Just keep working hard.

I only got 1 of my snatches 75 kg’s. Missing my opening lift got my mind messed up. My C&J was 100kg. So I only totaled 175. I was disappointed as i was expecting to total at least 180. I went to the meet expecting to snatch 83, and C&J 105.

Like i said before though i ended up overtraining. I peaked about 2 weeks before the meet. I think my snatch workout that tuesday was 5 singles @70 kg, 3x3 singles with 75kg, and i snatched 80 2x.

I am trying to total 205 by the start of next year so i can compeate collegent. I got about 5 months so hopefully i can make it.

Congratulations. In my book, PRs are more important than which place you get. But I guess it gets different for those competing internationally or in state championships.

hahahahahaha

thats how it kinda is for me…I think I placed “1st in Division” in both meets I’ve lifted in . not too many 40 year old Novices in the 181’s .good thing , or else I woulda taken last place…hahahahahaha

next time I just enter the regular Masters Division (40-plus) and take the beatdown I deserve .

oh yeah

I set a state record at my first meet !!

fuckin’ outstanding

probably not an over training problem. At my first powerlifting meet, I had the same problem, couldnt hit any of my old maxes, everything seemed to heavy, nervous, ect ect. ITS ALL MENTAL.

You have to settle down, and focus really hard on what you came to do. At leaste, thats what I learned to do. Its all a mental thing.

Plus i made a lot of mistakes like not eating enough throughout the day, and not enough water. And I didnt supplement right. Just make sure EVERYTHING is lined out before the meet. Make sure you know exactly what your gonna do/eat/warm up/ on comp day.

But…Powerlifting and OLY are two diferent kettles of fish.
