Took Thursday off because I am still not feeling well - I will try to Deadlift, Squat and BP between Fri & Sun. Maybe I will even do a “mini-meet” and train them all on the same day with no assistance work, just the three lifts. The April 5th deadline to get my application in for the contest has come and gone. My boss is not giving me the time off, so I will not be attending the meet in Killeen. I still plan to do either a USAPL local meet or invite 3 judges to the house and do a garage meet
I’m not terribly disappointed because I expected this to happen as it has occurred the last 2 years as well. There will always be other contests and the Nationals will have to wait until I can get time off from work…maybe next year???
To Heavythrower, Jimmy, & Malinda, the 3 who seem to have followed this thread closely, I thank you for your encouragement, suggestions, and sharing workouts of your own doing. Best of luck to all of you in all your future endeavors. I will continue posting until May, but do not see them happening daily, but we’ll see.

nice Art. i see your tapering down your volume some. on purpose or are you just going by feel?
HT - since I’m not going to the contest, I’m backing off a notch. Still training, but not pushing so hard - maybe good or bad, I’m not sure yet. I still plan on getting my lifts done in front of 3 judges in May - either at a sanctioned contest or inviting them to my garage. When at home, I feel less pressure - I perform better in the garage than at a contest most of the time. I’m comfortable/secure in familiar surroundings; the contest throws me off some, I’m not sure why or whether I’ll ever change at this stage of my life.
I find I have more pysche at a contest but too many distractions. Getting in line for warm-ups; time bet. last warm-up and first attempt not always optimal, timing of wrapping etc, commands, music being played etc. Most of the time I’m by myself with no coach so I bring this upon myself; with help there is less distractions.
Tuesday - 04/11/06 - Nice day out so I just did chain drag 20 mins backwards and 15 mins forwards before my class at 5. If I feel ok, will try to get in a quick BP workout tonight after I get home from class.
Thursady - 04/13/06 - Took dogs for 2 mile walk; had to almost run last mile to get back before it poured cats and dogs on us!!!
Friday - 04/14/06
Deadlift - 135x8; 225x5; 315x3; 405x2; 455x1; 500x3

They are in Miami…I fly out this tuesday and lift on thursday. I am looking forward to the trip. I am just about half a pound over right now, so I should be fine when the time comes.
You guys keep up the hard work! See ya soon.

That is too bad. It looks to be a big meet. Last count I heard was 155 lifters - which is kinda expected with the World’s being here in the states as well. I hope you are feeling better and that the training continues to go well. I am sure our paths will cross at some time in a meet.
Malinda
Best of lifting to you Malinda!I’ll see you in Killeen. Not much to report on my training.I hurt my right hand at work monday and I can’t close it.My palm and middle finger are hurt.I did not bench or deadlift this week and I light benched today and the swelling is down but I can’t grip the bar tight.I will give it another week and go from there.TRAIN HARD!
