Pitching a No Hitter On LSD...

This is definitely not a “pro lsd” thread.

From what you guys have written, there is no way I would voluntarily use this. Waking nightmares and me do not get along.

Acid i don’t think is entirely life changing by itself X, but simply the way we percieve the events that happened on it. Once for me the world was like cottonballs, stripped away slowly as the wind blew, kinda intense and scary as it was happening but reflecting on it, it simply amazes me at the power of our brains.

I’m actually flying over east for an interview on wednesday to a university course for neuroscience/ physiology because of how interested it got me in the ways our brain works. That plus waterburys credentials and articles intrigue me and i think approaching exercise from a neurological standpoint is a really good way to go about understanding out bodies better.

I’m not sure what kind of dosages these other people are using (I’m usually in the 200-300 mcg range or so,) but I’ve never experienced anything like that.

That being said, they may truly be doing epic dosages, so that may be a difference. There is a difference between a “full-blown” trip and an inebriated, psychedelic state.

Like SSC said, there are varying levels of doses. Pretty much anything under 5 tabs for a dude your size SHOULD be in the safe zone. But I haven’t touched the stuff in a long time, and have run across liquid so potent one drop would have twisted me up for 12 hours, let alone the 6 I took. So it’s not like there is a hard line limit. Some shit is better than others.

But yeah, don’t bother taking it unless you are 100% in wanting to. It is interesting, and I regret no part of it, but I don’t think my life would be any less enjoyable TODAY if I had never tried it.

I’ve been thinking about this ever since I read your post this morning. “Would you make the same choices if you got to relive those days?” And to be honest, probably, but I don’t know. There were a couple times, I would have saved them for another day, but… I would probably do it all over again, assuming I was 19 again.

I have pretty much outgrown drug use. I don’t even drink all that often. And would recommend that no one do any drugs weed included, but I’m not dumb enough to think any of you will listen to me, lol. Particularly the kids.

Just be safe guys, and try to make good choices.

Trying something 1-2 times in college no big deal. Heck, one of my favourite business men of all time Apple CEO Steve Jobs said his LSD experiences were “one of the two or three most important things [he had] done in [his] life”

But generally I associate regular recreational drug use (especially hard drugs) with losers.

I’ve always liked LSD and mushrooms, especially in the fall. Just getting way out of the boundaries of normal perception and watching the trees and tall grass wave in full color was a blast.

Last year I had an incidental trip on big laughing gyms. A guy at work requested some so I went to where I knew a patch of them were growing. I plucked a few lbs. of them, and as I did I noticed that my fingers were getting saturated with the juices. I guess there was some trans-dermal absorption, cause after about a half hour my stomach started to tickle and my feet disappeared.

I looked down to see where they were and the trail I was on seemed to be covered in a thin layer of invisible liquid that kept my feet from actually touching the ground. There wasn’t much visual, just very vibrant colors, and everything in the woods seemed to be separated from its surroundings, including me. There was also the persistent feeling of a giggle trapped in my stomach.

The effect faded after about two hours. Gyms aren’t notoriously potent, and I didn’t actually eat a shitload of them, but that was my first exposure to any type of hallucinogen in about 15 years, so the effect was noticeable.

Nothing transformational, just interesting.

The guy I got them for refused them though when I told him I wouldn’t bring them to work and that he would have to stop by and get them in his off time. I just didn’t want to be the guy responsible for ever body in the shop eating mushrooms for lunch then being all goofed up playing with chop saws and mig welders.

For those that have tried both Mushrooms and LSD which do you prefer? Can they be compared?

They are similar. I never took notes comparing the experience or anything but I think people build a tolerance to mushrooms and LSD tends to stay pretty powerful.

To make a good comparison people would have to know dosages and potencies, which they generally don’t.

I have had revelatory experiences on both.

I prefer LSD. In my experience more powerful and easier to ingest.

Maybe my example will help.

I took LSD for the first time when I was a freshman in college. Continued tripping for the next two years and came to the conclusion that I was going to be an organic chemist and synthesize my own LSD.

6 years later and I’m almost done with grad school. I’m an organic chemist but don’t have the slightest desire to synthesize drugs now. Those acid trips eventually became who I am today, but I would never let anyone know (in real life). Think I’d let my advisor know that his grant money funded an acid trip come to life? Not a chance.

Edit: Note the decision to be a chemmist was considered left field given my previous interests were music and sports. However, I was always good at it.

Definitely agree that they’re more similar than people give them credit for, but I also disagree to a point.

I’ve noticed people have TOTALLY different reactions to experiences with both. I know about a group of 10-15 people that I may have or may not have taken drugs with. We all used the same dosages, got from the same source, etc.

Anyway, we were comparing trips and experiences and it’s quite funny how different they can be. If I would have taken same, I’d probably say that I feel totally in control on LSD, without many issues keeping myself under control and calm and collected. I find it very ‘superficial’ and mostly visual.

I’d also say that, to be quite frank, shrooms trip me the fuck out. I could eat only an 1/8th of whatever strain really, and just have an intensely confusing, yet somewhat profound experience. I can’t finish sentences. I think in circles… frustrating circles. But sometimes it’s really fun! It’s much more of a tricky and unexpected experience.

LSD is for calm, pleasant nights (or Tron in I-Max 3D in December FUCKING wow) and shrooms is for really pushing the boundaries of consciousness, for me.

But then I know some people that are crazy sensitive to LSD (2 hits vs 4 hits of the same stuff) and will have a much more intense trip, especially psychologically.

Anyway, don’t really know where I was going with it but generally speaking, they’re similar in basic description and function but can be miles apart in terms of effect and actual physio-neural (I guess, haha) response.
