I think your confused with what diuretics actually do. Fat loss is the main part of “conditioning”. Without adequate fat loss, diuretics will just make you dry and lumpy. They just increase the secretion of water from your tissues. It helps get that feathered look of a muscle and show all the little striations that water would inhibit you to see. Many average people take them to control blood pressure and other heart conditions.
So you’ll still have to diet the same with or without them.

I stand corrected. I thought it would thin out skin and just plain make you look leaner.

Well yes it does essentially do that. Im just saying with out losing the fat underneath the skin, they wouldn’t even be considered.
I never thought Arnold’s leg size ruined his physique. He got messed with by his peers on them some, but he wasn’t concerned about it because he was winning Os.
People started talking about his calf size at one point in his career and he agreed with them and thought they were a weakness in his physique. He attacked them and built them to a point that some were talking that they thought he might have had implants.
My point is if Arnold thought his legs were a weakness he would have built bigger legs.

I know we were disagreeing in that other thread, but you’re exactly right here. He didn’t want bigger legs, period. And he was winning. Dominating. He had zero incentive to have bigger legs than he did. His contemporary with enormous legs (Platz) was not a winner.
I remember some early photo of Arnold giving a front double bicep, standing up to his knees in water. And not the ocean. Like water where ducks would be.
Arnold was extremely adaptive, and did what it took to succeed. If he had been defeated by a guy with huge quads, Arnold would have returned the following year with huge quads.
Up until '74, his legs were actually quite large. Then he suffered a knee injury when a posing platform collapsed under him, and he never seemed to bring his legs back up to their previous size thereafter.

It happens on here from time to time. Both, disagreeing with people and me getting something right.
Im late to this party so im not going to be able to read through the whole thread.
A) Arnold had legs, especially good calves later in his career. If you compare his legs to the competitors of his day, they were quite good.
B) Phil has always come across as arrogant, pretentious, spoiled and immature, i have never liked him because of this. His response in this post and in interviews ive seen on youtube regarding Arnold’s comments only solidified this for me. If anyone has watched Generation Iron, he comes across the same way.
C) Arnold is %100 percent correct, Look at off season bodybuilders like Justin Compton. Even with visible abs they look like bloated, out of shape messes when not in contest condition. The direction is certainly not healthy and most of these guys have lost their look of athleticism.
D) There is a reason that physique has become so popular so quick, and that instagram fitness gurus like the Shredz guys have become so much more popular/wealthy than the hardcore bodybuilders. Its because that is the look that people prefer. Fitness is mainstream, true bodybuilding is still fringe. Heath doesnt understand this. Its the reason we havent seen guys like Heath becomes megastars like Arnold did. Very few people admire the mass monster physique.
E) Kai is looking awesome in the leadup to the O, god i hope he dethrones Phil finally.

Although I’ve been a long time fan of Phil’s physique, I totally agree with you regarding his other attributes. His personality doesn’t reflect that of a champ.
I really wish Cedric would come in full and shredded. His whole look is from Arnold’s and Lee Haney’s day, and that’s what attracted me to bodybuilding to begin with.

I totally agree with what Steez said.
Rhoden has a great look, but is slightly bottom heavy, and could bring his back up slightly more.
He and Cedric are probably the most aesthetic guys right now. Beautiful classic lines.

Agreed, I’m surprised no one talks about them as much as they should. The Phil/Kai pissing match has kind of been distracting.

Love Cedric’s physique, and he’s a lot more humble than Phil. Seems he’ll never nail the conditioning though.

I think Rhoden looks great but i feel he’s just missing a certain “It Factor” that the other top guys like Phil/Kai/Wolf have, or even Big Ramy. I can never quite put my finger on it but i have a hard time seeing him as Mr O.

Stage presents? He does seem to always have that same blank look on his face.

Lol, you gotta smile like an idiot[/quote]
I wouldn’t say you have to smile ear to ear like a miss America pageant, but show some character, confidence, enthusiasm, hell even a little arrogance. Something you know.

Agree. I can’t stand the open-mouth, angry-looking posers.
