There is also the slaughter of sharks for their fins.
Japan really needs to up their soy intake, do us all a favor.

Fucking japanese have to get the message eventually[/quote]
If only it was as simple as the “fucking Japanese” getting the message.
First of all the International Whaling Commision has that scientific whaling loophole. Who needs to hunt hundereds, or thousands of whales for scientific research?
Many coastal towns in Japan rely on whaling and have been doing it for many generations. They must be lobbying for the continuation of whaling as that is the only thing that many of these families know. Thoses are the only skills they have. Though nobody offers up suggestions or a plan of incentives for these people to stop, that includes you.
Some whalers say that whalemeat has some historic or cultural significance. Though that doesn’t seem to be true outside these towns. Actually the occupation encouraged whaling after the war as a cheap and plentiful source of protein. Which comes with the bureauracy and politics that accompany any government program.
Whale consumtion has been dropping for decades, so yes whaling should stop. It isn’t that simple yet nobody offers a way to accomplish this they just sign petitions.
I also wonder why there isn’t a save the tuna campaign yet since at this pace bluefin tuna will go extinct. BUt people like sushi. And consumption is rising outside of Japan. Considering that high quality tuna at less than 4 dollars a piece(of sushi) means that restaurants are losing money on every piece yet people want cheap tuna. The Japanese are at fault here also for going over their quota last year by a third.
So when is Greenpeace going to start to tail boats fishing for Tuna?
i’d say stick a couple of those fake fins on some fatties and drop them in the middle of Tokyo. Japanese are happy, T-Nation is happy, we are all happy.

It isn’t limited to China
I signed it. I forget who it was, I think the japanese. But once a year they gather a bunch of dolphins into a canal or sumtin then slaughter them all for the fucking fun of it. I say we just drop another nuke on them and say fuck it.

That is pretty fucking atrocious as well. Wasteful wholesale slaughter of a predatory animal vital to the food chain.
I actually tried shark fin soup once, and it didn’t taste that good. It’s definitely not worth the price we are going to pay in the future of this planet if we keep this up.
We only have one planet to live on and our race is raping the shit out of it for all its resources.

Did you watch the video?
I don’t think so

Where does it show the Japanese fishing boats? I don’t here any Japanese spoken( I speak Japanese, since I live in Japan). Nor do I see any Japanese written anywhere.
Shark fin soup is a Chinese dish. It is one of their most prized dishes. Pressure did lead Disney Land(world?) to stop offering it.
It is served in some Chinese restaurants in Japan. It is expensive. Though consumption cannot compare to China where it is a prized dish.

it isn’t limited to China or Japan, it is gaining popularity all over Asia.
"Who Eats Shark Fin Soup?
Although Chinese and Japanese primarily consume the dish, the consumption is increasing in western societies with affluent consumers, Asian and non-Asian. "
Unfortunately it is a gourmet and an expensive dish and therefore a lucrative business for the shark fin companies.

True. Not to hijack, but I saw a commercial on tv the other day asking for people to pledge money to help dogs and cats. Are we serious? There’s millions of people in the world that have to eat their own feet for breakfast.
Whales can suck my balls.

I don’t know where in Japan you live, but here in Okinawa and nearby Sasebo, shark fin soup is served as a side dish both in chinese restaurants and in “Yatai” shops along the riverbank.
Japanese people are much to blame for all the shit that is going on with whaling. To say that “they don’t consume it that much” is an understatement of the fact that they have competitions to see which whale “bento” is the most delicious.
Ahh I read and speak japanese too. Living here for 5 years has taught me that a lot of the US reprimands are laughed at by the Japanese. And still we the american consumer buy tons and tons of their products. All the while US goods and products are thoroughly inspected; some can’t even be imported (meat).

Oh, I understand. But just sign the petition. It doesnt cost anything and youre indirectly doing the human race a favor by preserving the wellbeing of the diversity of species on our planet.
Its on the front page - all you have to do is enter your name, email address and country. It takes 3 seconds.

How do I become a whaler? I really want to take on this honorable ancient tradition…I mean if you’re a whaler, it’s like you are a Samurai of the SEA!
Are we seriously getting that bored that we are going to bitch about wailing now?
Fun little question for you. How would you take care of the people who’s lives for generations have depended on that?
People first then animals.
