Let’s try doing some static holds for front squats, just a few inches above the sawhorses, 12 seconds each. Don’t know how much weight I can really do, but right now 99 kilos is enough to get shaky in 10 seconds.

Might take that week off now…
I keep talking about taking a week off, then putting it off for another week. Procrastinating when it comes to taking time off - that’s gotta be typical lifter behavior.

Previous 10 rep best was 189, went for 193 once before but only made it to 8 before my grip gave out. Nice to know I’m not getting weaker. But even if most of me doesn’t feel like it needs to take time off from lifting, my left arm does, so I really am gonna take a week off now.
And just for the hell of it - new song, new singer, more layering and automation and generally elaborate production than ever before.
Back now. Managed to take a whole week off, and of course I’m already regretting it - got stuff to do Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the evenings for various reasons, so now I’m wishing I’d put the week off of by one more week so it would be this week instead of last. But I sure am feeling a hell of a lot better.

So, yeah, this week would have been a good one to take off. Yesterday I had a rehearsal of music for the Christmas party at work, today different people from work talked me into making bacon-filled pig-shaped chocolates, tomorrow I’m supposed to record a singer, Saturday DJ at a club until 3 AM or so, band rehearsal Sunday plus a recording session with a different singer if she stops coughing and sneezing, and Monday I finally don’t have to do anything except go to work. Tuesday is a holiday so no work but I’m already supposed to have a rehearsal with a rapper.
But there’s always time for Tabatas.
Tabata front squats: 49 kg
Still sore from the Tabatas, but I’ll have less time tomorrow than I did today, so…

Just checked out your log for the first time. Amazing example of what you can accomplish with limited equipment, if you’re determined to get results!
It’s great to know that people find encouragement in this log.
I could easily afford a gym membership or clear some space in my garage and get a power rack, mats and a proper Olympic bar, but I just don’t feel the need to. I also have a weight belt and only end up using it a few times a year for squats when my back is sore from doing something else, like digging up the garden. Never felt comfortable using it for deadlifts. I have two adjustable dumbbells but end up using only one most of the time. So I don’t even really use all the equipment I have.
So, today. Ended up lifting mid-afternoon because I got something else to do at 6 PM.

Another stupidly busy week. Recording session Sunday, rehearsals Monday and today, hip-hop show I’m DJing at Thursday, another singer wants to record Friday. Sunday the people I recorded this past Sunday probably want to record another song, and somebody different wanted me to play music for some artsy silent movie with rehearsals Monday and today. It pays really good money, too, but I turned it down and found them another bassist, because this is just too much at once. I’ve got already recorded songs to mix and samples to edit, too. I obviously need to quit at least one project.
Did lift a bit after today’s rehearsal, though, and eating chicken now.

Took the day off work today, dug up the grapevines I buried in shallow ditches in the spring, split them into pieces where they put down new roots, and replanted them at regularly spaced intervals. If all goes well I’ll have 15 more shrubs next year and more grapes in a few years. And I don’t even like wine, I just eat them. Anyway, then:

In the meantime I also got to turn down playing at some out of town festival with a children’s choir tomorrow, and while setting up the gear for last night’s show was offered another DJ gig by the owner or manager (not sure) of the bar. Luckily it’s for New Year’s Eve, not anything this week.
One more singer wanted to record today. Seriously.

I’ve been letting these rest periods get ridiculously long, probably upwards of 15 minutes sometimes, so I’m going to try to watch the clock. A bit of organization will do me good. Making sure the deadlifts and the upper-body stuff are all done in 30 minutes each including any warmup, loading up the plates and whatever.
