Maybe I should sometimes log what I eat, because it gets comical. Lunch today was four rabbit livers fried in leftover bacon and sausage grease with dried jalapeno flakes and two barely ripe apricots. And why? Because I forgot to buy a pear to go with the livers, so I used apricots instead.

Not eating anything weird today yet, though catfish with green harissa might count as an uncommon combination?

Dinner today is leg of lamb, but I also got a jar of olives stuffed with figs I might open up and try later.

Nothing real interesting getting eaten today. Dinner’s just roast beef, garlic and habanero. The olives stuffed with figs might be turning into a running joke by now as I bought them almost a week ago and still haven’t opened the jar, but I still gotta finish the olives with orange peel and rosemary first…

You should stuff them into even bigger olives

Haha, maybe. The orange peel and rosemary ones are pretty small, could fit into big green ones.

But I never liked olives, then read that T-Nation article about olives being good for muscle gain, figured I should start, and found some guys selling olives stuffed with piri piri peppers. A good gateway drug to olives, I guess. Still don’t like olives as such, but I’ll eat olives with other things to add some non-olive flavor. Figs might be a bridge too far, but at least I didnt buy the pineapple-stuffed ones.

Doing something different for the squats, instead of doing them off sawhorses I pick the bar up off the sawhorses, walk out in front of them, and do ATG squats. Going light to get used to that. And in food news, I went full hipster.

Also ate some fish, no idea what it’s called. Forgot the Polish name, never seen it before, no idea what the English name might be, but some flounder about 1-1 1/2 pounds in size gutted and decapitated. Much nicer than the smaller Baltic flounders we usually get around here.

For breakfast I fried some blood sausage in smoked lard, and ate it with Greek yogurt. I got that combination from a Lebanese guy in Houston a long time ago, who ran the local Mediterranean store which also had some Polish stuff. He told us he likes Polish blood sausage, and eats it with yogurt or kefir or some other fermented milk stuff. To this day I suspect it was just something he made up on the spot as a salesman, and not something he actually ate in real life, but I eventually tried it as a joke and damit, it’s actually a good combination.

Still haven’t tried any of the hipster figs. My parents might have to visit in a week and a half cause they’ll have some paperwork to do in the city, might leave them until then.

Dinner is wild boar butt with green harissa, extra cilantro, and Greek yogurt. Butt as in the cut of meat, which is kinda the upper back above the shoulders, not the ham which is located at the butt. Weird olives still unopened. Wild boar isn’t that much more expensive than pork here these days. I need to talk to the guy who raises goats about getting one in a week or so, too, they should be a nice size now.

Doing the ninth rep of the deadlift, I thought this is kinda getting heavy but I can do eleven. As the tenth was going up, I still thought that. Putting the tenth down, I realized eleven was not going to happen without dropping the bar, haha.

And lunch today was something illegal in many English-speaking countries - horse sausage.

And nothing really interesting, but I was frying ground beef with a pear and added some wild garlic just because that’s also called bear garlic and pear and bear sounds funny. Turned out pretty good, but would have been better with two or three pears for one kilo of beef. Sadly, I only had one pear left.

And my parents will be in town Tuesday, so that’s when the goofy olives will get opened.

Parents never too old to help their children (eat goofy olives). Have a fun time

Ha. Yes. They might get here tomorrow. In the meantime:

This isn’t food yet, but I planted some cayenne, and one of the seeds sprouted with three leaves instead of the normal two. Curious how it develops, and if I can get another generation of seeds to do this… probably not, but we’ll see.

Also, opened some of the olives! And not only are my parents too old, change in plans - they brought my grandma, who’s 91. We opened the pineapple olives yesterday. Mom didn’t like them, said they’re sweet, dad ate most of them and then finished the rest at lunch today, and grandma ate half and didn’t complain. Then the fig ones today. Mom didn’t want to try these, dad ate a couple, grandma ate half again, complained the first bite was sweet and this isn’t good, then ate the rest of her half anyway. That leaves papaya to try.
