Periodontitis surgery and lifting

Hello fellow lifters,
I had always had a history of gum issues. But I avoided going to the dentist for a while. Lately I hit one of my teeth and it became shaky! I had to go to the dentist and he diagnosed with stage 4 periodontal disease!
I have 4 surgeries planned ahead (1 every 5 days) to cut the gum then remove damaged tissue and in the process I will lose 4 teeth from the lower jaw and 2 or 3 from the upper jaw.
Had anyone gone through something similar?
What do you advise when it comes to training?
Because the dentist is telling me to avoid heavy lifting for now! Until we are done with the surgeries.
Let me please know your thoughts.
Thanks!

It’s because strenuous activity can mess with the blood clotting after your surgeries. It’s not something to mess around with. At least that’s what I was told when I had much more minor one time dental surgery. How frequent are your surgeries? Quick google search shows a 5 days as being a sufficient period to take off.

I am supposed to have 4 surgeries every five days. I was planning to train the 4th day after the 1st surgery and may be do the same after each surgery to limit my de-training.

Be careful! Definitely limit the weight to avoid excess pressure.

Thanks Buddy!

I just had grafting like this done in July. They said no lifting/strenuous activity for two weeks. Walking was fine. I listened to those recs. Eating is tough too, so maybe just take it easy, and take it as a life deload.

Maybe it’s time to try some new stuff for a couple weeks.

Have you ever done any weighted endurance work, like sled dragging or walking with a weight vest? Or a bunch of kettlebell swings?

Like training where you can build up your cardio or conditioning, while preserving as much mass and strength as possible.
