Peri-Workout Nutrition Question

Hello,

I’m a little out of date with peri-workout nutrition. Back in 2002, started using Surge Recovery post workout. Then several years later came Surge Workout Fuel pre/during workout and Surge Recovery post workout.

This is basically when I lost track of things as other products like MAG-10 and Anaconda came out with much more complex protocols (and more expensive!)

My question is: If I want a simple peri-workout strategy utilizing some of the newer products, what are my options? Ideally, I’d like to purchase 1 supplement that I take immediately before I workout and immediately after I workout. My schedule doesn’t allow me to pulse during the day or have timed doses 1-2 hours after I workout.

Could I do something like: Anaconda right before workout out, sip on it during workout, and then again after workout? Or do I really need to juggle all the different products? It’s a big confusing now since Surge Recovery and Surge Workout Fuel are still available, so it’s hard to know what’s ideal, especially for someone looking to keep the price low and keep it simple.

Thanks in advance!

Simplest = Anaconda only. Mix it up, start sipping it 5-10 minutes before your workout and finish it 75% of the way through up to the end of the work out.

Bang. Done.

Its recommended to use MAG-10 one hour afterwards to spike amino levels again and get protein synthesis rolling. If you desire and its in your schedule you can have another meal 15-30 minutes after the MAG-10.

The new Anaconda kinda sorta put Surge Workout Fuel and Recover “out of business.” But they still have their place for some athletes and trainers.

Perfect. Exactly what I needed help answering. Thanks!

How much Anaconda do you use? Is it costing 75 bucks per week/fortnight?

then why not use SR again?

Just think a mere 3 yrs ago, everyone on these boards raved about how great SR was, and now just because something else comes along and claims to make SR obsolete for 2x the price does that negate how much people liked SR?

Yup. Lonnie’s on it.

2-Scoops(1-Serving) is plenty for a 60min or so training session, you can add more scoops if you have marathon sessions but 1-serving is plenty, which will last 14 sessions worth of training. You can always check the label for serving recs.

I mostly agree with what you’re saying however there will always be improvements to how things can be done and that’s not a bad thing.

I think though if i had to work within a reasonable budget for peri-workout nutrition, which i think is probably the most important time to really nail, i would choose Surge Workout Fuel over something like Surge Recovery. I think as far as a pre/during product its pretty hard to beat. I feel like Surge Recovery is better served in a post-training type manor.

But, like i said i get exactly what you’re saying.

 also, I think ultimately you have to ask yourself, is the juice worth the squeeze… are you really noticing that much better results from a switch, or is the marketing making you see things differently.

I’m not trying to debate if one is better than the other, rather is one method that much better to justify the cost.

mainly because taking Surge Recovery before and during my workout makes me hyperglycemic. Last time I did that with the recommended serving I just got nauseous and had to leave the gym. I like taking carbs slightly before and during my workout so the carbs in Anaconda are perfect for that.
