That’s it because I had to switch from yesterday to today and we didn’t want to accumulate too much fatigue before Monday. So front squats and presses were cancelled.

Fuck yes! Things are clicking right now!!

It continues to rain PRs in here—awesome!

You’re looking particularly strong and fit in that video, too! Good stuff.

This feels unreal. I can hardly realize it. This is a lifetime goal achieved. A dream not come but made true. I was bouncing of the walls like a helium filled balloon for half an hour. Even 2,5 hours after the lift, I am still somewhere up in the clouds. This was my lifetime lifting goal for such a long time even though it felt (and realistically is) abstract and always seemd nebulous and unrealistic. I want to thank everyone who followed my journey at one point or another, without tagging a bunc of people. Some will see, others will hopefully know I meant to include them. It truly feels like 15 years of work accumulated in this moment. I think the video speaks for itself.

1 btn jerk
up to
2 @ 120 kg (beltless)
1 @ 130 kg
1 @ 140 kg
1 @ 147 kg
1 @ 155 kg - by far the best this has ever moved.
1 @ 160 kg - I kinda got it but then lost balance. I wasn’t going to let that stand. I knew I wouldn’t be able to stand the voice in the back of my head, that tells me, I didn’t really get it.

1 @ 160 kg - PR!!!

Hard to describe how much that meant. And I got it for the absolutely perfect rep too! I wasn’t going to let any doubt here. I probably had a bit more in me even.

2 deadlift
3 @ 220 kg

3 vertical jump rebounds
5 x 3

That video put a big smile on my face, great to see how much that meant to you, huge well done, you’ll be getting more overhead than you’ll be deadlifting if you keep this pace up!

Slept badly and definitely felt the 160 kg lift from yesterday. Very tired.

1 snatch

3 x 1 @ 82,5 kg

2 clean and jerk

3 x 1 @ 107,5 kg

3 front squat

1 @ 140 kg

Took out the singlet which is hella awkward in the gym but also that’s the point.

weightlifting competition

Today I competed in the same weightlifting competition I did last year. I wasn’t fully fresh and recovered going in but that is okay. This was not a huge priority, so we deemed some fatigue acceptable and we also didn’t work much at or near the 100% range in training, as you usually would for weightlifting because we used a lot of recovery ressources for the btn jerk, deadlift and front squat and trained weightlifting more for technical efficiency and practice.

The meet itself was once a gain a lot of fun! A lot of people recognized me from last year.

It’s just that weightlifting meets are super confusing and fast paced for me and I can never figure out when I have to lift.

snatch

I opened with 90 kg and did that with no issue.

For my 2nd attempt I took 94 kg and I actually had to immediately follow myself with only one minute break! That was a tough thing to do and very unfamiliar. Still got it and it didn’t feel that hard.

I felt very put on the spot and just said I would take 98 kg as my third. This time I had about 2 minutes break because someone was inbetween. But still not a lot of rest.

Sadly I failed the third. I think strength wise they could be there though. 97 would have been the perfect call today under these circumstances.

Still very happy with my snatch performance!

clean & jerk

When I dropped the bar from my last warm up, I heard my name called (apparently the guys before me all changed their attempts last minute, which is a tactic to gain more time or screw with opponents). So I had to immediately go into my 1st attempt at 115 kg. Which was of course still no problem.

After I now figured out how to gain some more rest time through attempt selection changes, I also started taking advantage of that.

Second attempt was 120 kg which ties my PR and was no issue.

For the third Paul and I had originally thought 125 kg but I really wanted to be confident and finish with a good call on the 3rd. So I selected 124 kg. That ended up being the perfect call because I got it with an epic fight, which gained me the respect of everyone present, haha.

94 kg is a 1 kg comp PR and 1 kg below my training PR and 124 kg is a 7 kg comp PR and 4 kg overall PR. I got 244,64 relative points and was 3rd in my class.

I am happy with my performance and had a great day!

I was also invited to a different tournament in January and I am considering it.

Thanks goes out to my coach and my wonderful girlfriend who accompanied me today! And also to everyone following along of course
