1 double dumbbell snatch (?)
8 x 1 @ 2x35 kg

2 deadlift
3 x 5 @ 195 kg

Originally supposed to do 5 sets but the lower back was still super fatigued from last week. So we cut out 2 sets. Load was okay but the back pump was insane. Should have warmed up better before the dumbbells, which got that going actually.

3 farmer’s walk
30 m @ 100 kg (turn at 15 m)
30 m @ 110 kg (turn at 15 m)

Tore a callus badly. Took a lot of normal skin with it and now that’s open. Have to be creative how I tape that. Farmer’s also went really shit. Stopped here causw hand needed attent

So far I was able to handle the heat actually really well but today it really was an issue… I felt super unwell.

Not a good start into the last heavy prep week. Just have to soldier on.

Man I am on a streak with those. This one is way worse than last week though. Got loads of tips how to cover it up. Will implement them and suck up the pain.

Fuck yeah! That last run was good!!

2 x 1 @ 70 kg
1 x 0 @ 70 kg
1 x 1 @ 70 kg

Close feet, aggressive clean to the face, elbow points upwards, jump out with your feet, you damn coward!

It’s 34°C. Fuck my life

Not too be to melodramatic but today felt like one of those make or break points in training. Great opportunity to make it and it feels good to do so! (Well in all honesty it was close to 4 hour workout with setting up and putting away in 34°C after a full work day and I infact feel not great afterwards… but accomplished :joy:)

Well apparently not enough (nothing). Need to file them down!

Now I try my best to cover up what is already torn.

2 13" deadlift
3 @ 200 kg

2 @ 240 kg
1 @ 245 kg

3 farmer’s walk
30 m (turn @ 15 m) @ 100 kg

Dropped them on the way back because the tape was slipping that I used to cover up my torn hand. Tore the hands some more but it made me really angry.

30 m (turn @ 15 m) @ 110 kg
30 m (turn @ 15 m) @ 120 kg

Important mental win here! Also a good test in pain tolerance. Hand was hurting like a bitch.

4 zercher marches
2 x 45 sec@ 125 kg

5 treadmill sprints

I was spent after this week. At work I was dizzy, unfocused and ready to just fall asleep standing. Very exhausted. But because of timing I only had 20 minutes to lay on the sofa before I had to train.
Not gonna lie, I loathed the thought of having to train.

Also at this point it would be quicker to list what doesn’t hurt. :joy:

1 axle clean and press
4 x 3 @ 100 kg

Good stuff and not to self praise here but I thought my shoulders and back looked freaking huge and pretty jacked in the videos.
Biceps hurt though, haha.

2 keg clean and press
3 x 4 @ 90 kg
1 x 5 @ 90 kg

Okay. No energy anymore but decent work.

3 paused monster dumbbell
6 x 2 @ 64 kg

Some sets were brilliant, others shit. Was meant to be 62,5 kg but afterwards I weighed the dumbbell and collars and it is 1,5 kg heavier than I thought the whole time.

4 keg carry
5 x 15 m @ 90 kg

At the risk of repeating myself: Things were bad at this point. Right SIJ got aggro again.

5 sandbag carry
1 x 20 m @ 128 kg

I hate myself for giving up here because at the next comp grit will be the absolute decisive factor… but I just had nothing left anymore. I dropped after 20 m because my biceps was hurting, my SIJ was hurting and I had nothing left. I was supposed to do 2 sets of 30 m but I was just empty at this point.

This concludes my last heavy session. I am proud of the work I put in and I hope I can show that next weekend.

You made a smart decision. Don’t risk further injury to finish a workout. Recover hard and comeback stronger!!

1 overhead medley
80 kg barbell - 90 kg keg - 100 kg axle - 90 kg keg

2 runs, only singles.

2 monster dumbbell
5 x 1 @ 65,5 kg

1 reps was very good and the other 4 were perfect. Very good to hit these so well before comp.

3 sandbag pick ups into carry position
2 x 1 @ 128 kg

These hurt the biceps so I left it at 2 and also I wanted to do no actual walking with them to spare my back.

Very good last deload/ priming session.

13.07.25 German Cup Siegen

3rd competition in 7 weeks but another one done and dusted and it was a really tough one too. Going in I felt fatigued but okay apart from my reaggravated left distal biceps tendon.

1st event: Overhead medley
2 x 37,5 kg dumbbells
80 kg keg
100 kg axle
92 kg keg for reps

Time cap 75 seconds
I got 4 reps on the keg

This was about what I set out to do but still I am a little disappointed. Really should have done at least 5 reps. The second keg was a horrible piece of kit though because it basically had no latch underneath that you could grip. So the grip was an issue and I had a bit of an issue with balance too. Could have done better but certainly not a bad performance either.

2nd event: 70 kg Monster dumbbell for reps

Boy this was a big dumbbell!

I got 2 reps

For never having done this in comp before and only having had 5/6 training sessions on it, this is a good result. Still of course I would have wanted 3, haha. Comparetively a weak overhead event for me but also huge room for improvement with more practice.

3rd event: Carry medley

120 kg per hand farmer’s for 25 m with a turn around a keg at 12,5 m into a 90 kg for 12,5 m keg onto a platform

This was the event I was most worried about. Mainly because of my torn up hands. Thankfully the scaps held up. It hurt like a bitch though.
The farmer’s handles were completely smooth without any knurling, which was hard on the grip (also likely good for the skin). Also they were really long and thin and the spin on them was even worse than on mine at home.
So I had to set them down once. I absolutely had the grip for the whole track but they practically stood horizontally in front of my legs. When I picked them up again, they immediately slid into my fingertips and I though I would lose them again but I made it and could proceed to the keg.

4th event: 120 kg sandbag for max distance

turns around a keg at 12,5 m

Got the sandbag up well into a good carry position. Everything felt pretty good and so much easier than in training.

Then came the mistake. Because of the bag I couldn’t see what is in front of me. I thought I had well surpassed the keg… but ended up running into it. That made the sandbag slide down into my lap. I was able to hold onto it but I couldn’t recover it and we were not allowed to pause with the bag in our lap.
So I had it in the shittiest position possible and considering that, still made it pretty far after that incident. But this ended up costing me big time. I was good for at least another lap and 60+ m total.

I got like 45 meters or so - waiting on the results

Well nothing to dwell on. I am trying to not beat myself up too much about it.

I set out to do well and show how hard I had been working and I think for that I did a decent job. This was a hard competition and a tough field. I ended up in 16th place out of 20.
